Crime Down!

  • Heading into the weekend, police hit the streets of a jittery Chicago rocked by violence. By any measure, this is an emergency. And the response is coming from all directions.

[...] Mayor Richard M. Daley called a summit Friday to tackle gangs and guns, spurred by 40 shootings and 12 dead in seven days.

Police Supt. Jody Weis personally inspected his troops Friday night before they hit the streets on the South Side, kicking off the first weekend of beefed up patrols to combat the recent wave of violence.
We'd like to personally take credit for doing our part in reducing the weekend casualty totals. We wrote three parkers, two contact cards and a curfew. We'd also like to thank this guy, too:

Saturday: High of 59, Low of 40

Sunday: High of 48, Low of 33 and a chance of snow?

Maybe we can get Tommy a Department Commendation?

Yeah, I remember Fat Phil two or three years ago during a particularly rainy spring bragging about how the homicide and agg batt numbers were way down. He acted like he was some kind of tactical genius.

I personally think that Tommy Skillethead rocks! At least his predictions are more accurate than those of Sneed.

When I get some downtime, I need to write him a short note to find out if during the summer months when we have periods of precipitation, (rain) what is the chance of people in direct proximity of an intended tasing recipient from experiencing a second-hand tase.

I like Tommy the weatherman too; too bad his brother is a convicted thief! But on this dept/city, it could be a badge of honor, if he were to be employed............

Jody Weis has TRU and SWAT standing in the rain for an outside roll call at 68th Marshfield Friday night what a joke. News cameras circle the units as he recommended that police presence will deter crime. It hasn't before why now? With shaving half of the Intelligence unit and TRU, I forecast that morale will be at its lowest! After all who really wants to work after being dumped! Florida and Mexico vacation here I come!!!!I cant wait to sit out in my bikni and catch the sun, as I watch the tact/gang team sweat their balls off and have their days cancelled...Ahhhhh. It pays to get dumped after all! more time with the kids and outdoor activites for me!!!

Ya everything is working as planed, BULLSHIT! Dick Daley said "we don't need more police" ya right! That's what he gave them, but only for a weekend, he won't be able to do it all summer. When there is a stand off I gues SWAT won't be out on the street. When the TAEST needs the copper they won't be able to patrol the far south sides. Than what?

Some of the shooters are persistent despite the cool weather:

CHICAGO -- Michael Phipps, of 9146 S. Clyde Ave., was shot to death early Saturday on the South Side, police said.

The shooting happened about 3:25 a.m. in the 7500 block of South Wabash Avenue, police News Affairs Officer David Banks said. Banks said Phipps, 25, died at the scene.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.

•A SECOND FATALITY was reported Saturday night in the North Side’s Rogers Park neighborhood.

Police said a male in his 20s had multiple gunshot wounds about 8:10 p.m. while standing in the street in the 2000 block of West Birchwood Avenue. The victim was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating

"Obama called Mayor Daley on Friday, asking what he could do to help counter a recent upsurge in gun violence in Chicago. "A lot of the emphasis is going to be on how we are working together to give young people more constructive things to do and to give them more perspective in terms of why violence is unacceptable," Obama said."

Asked if he needed to worry that he will be perceived as "elitist" in Indiana, Obama said he had the humblest origins of the three candidates."

Considering Obamas' elitist background, he doe not have a clue about what needs to be done.

It's to bad the weather wasn't as nice this weekend. Now J-Fed will take credit for curbing the violence in Chicago with his awesome tactics. The violence will be taken off of the front pages and forgotten until summer actually gets here to stay. But summer is coming my friends... it is coming.

Daley has decided that we do need more police. He wants an additional TWENTY TWO personal lackys, bootlicks, coat hiolders, valets, fetchboys, and lickspittles assigned to his personal Crime Family immediately.

Thank you national media for descending upon our humble town of Chicago.

Nothing like irrational fear and panic spreading nationwide.

Nothing has happened in Chicago that hasn't happened almost every year since the turn of the century (the century before last, that is). But you'd think the sky has fallen if you pay attention to the national media.

Has the national media opened up offices recently here in Chicago?

Why all the unreasonable hyterical attention all of a sudden?

Is the CPD going to be continually victimized like the 'coast' cities have? The LAPD has been absolutley destroyed by the media. Are we next?

Interesting way to skew the stats:

Chicago Tribune Metro Section 2 - Monday, April 28, 2008 - Page 1 states:

"The weekend's fatal shootings showed the violence isn't contained to one area. The three deaths, which don't include a man fatally shot by police or homicides involving weapons other than guns, took place on the city's North, West, and South Sides."

Chicago Tribune Metro Section 2 - Monday, April 28, 2008 - Page 3 states:

SOUTH SIDE: Man stabs brother to death, police say

SOUTH SIDE: Woman, 87 found dead after possible break-in

I suppose that this is one way to lower the violence numbers...We'll just count the ones that involve firearms.

Bats, knives, bricks, and pushing people out of project housing windows shall miraculously have no effect on the Summer of blood's body count.
