What's Felony Review For?

This is from the comments section:
  • Memo out tonight to all districts: any P.O. arrested for ANYTHING, felony review is to contacted IMMEDIATELY to see if charges will be upgraded to felony!
    Watch yourselves out there officers.
This may or may not be true. We're looking for more verification.

However, it tracks along with a little tidbit of info that we acquired. We are attempting to get this info to our readers without burning the source. It involves a high level conversation that we have to disguise the source of and we hope to have it done by tomorrow. But we feel it is important enough to bring to the attention of our readers.

It will change the entire way you approach your job. At least it should.

Well this is about all i can take!
I saw approx 5 TRU cars eating at this place and they spent a good hour and 1/2 in there as usual. So when they finally left, i handled a job and intended to go back there to eat, when low and behold i kid you not another 6 TRU cars pull up and go into the same establishment. I'm dumbfounded. And then the topper is that they also stayed for over an hour. I tell ya, those guys are really something else. Total disregard for the lowly beat cop.

This isn't exactly a State Secret SCC. You've been giving warnings in this direction for months. Anyone who's been domesticating as of late better let their spouse know before they call 911, they may lose their income. Drink at each others houses and don't be calling J-Fed for a ride home. Even if it seems funny at the time!

14 Officers are now on the medical with hairballs.

This one went bad, quick!

12 other officers broke bones bouncing off Spratte's belly.

I guess the blindflolds were a bad thing on the contestants.

Badge of Honor: Money management exec gets the industry to give back
By Drew Carter

Posted: April 28, 2008, 6:01 AM EST

WASHINGTON — David Blanchard wondered for years how he could give back to the police community after having worked more than two decades in money management, in part for police pension funds.

Following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, he knew.

“I was in New York when the planes hit, and I saw the second plane hit,” he said.

Now, thanks to Mr. Blanchard, the money management community is helping families of police officers nationwide find financial benefits they’re due when an officer is killed on the job.

“We found out there’s money available, but nobody knew,” said Mr. Blanchard, now president of Investment Management Advisors, Dallas.

He created the Badge of Honor Memorial Foundation in 2004, a non-profit organization that oversees the paperwork and other legalities so families of slain officers get the death benefits to which they’re entitled. It also presents each family with a bronze statue personalized with the officer’s name and badge.

The foundation, whose website is http://www.bohmf.org, is funded primarily by money managers and consultants.

SCC says:

SCC, there is nothing to change. I unfortunately don't do anything anymore. It sure is boring the hell out of me but now I am getting used to it.

Jody Weis trying to indict coppers isn't going to change how I do my job because I have already seen the light, going on 2 years now. I don't do anything for this disturbed, undeserving cesspool of a city.

Good luck everybody. I am going to start trying to post departments throughout the contry who offer lateral transfers and would appreciate real vetern POs on their depts. This city doesn't want us and sometimes its better to just walk away from a fight.

Hi Boys and Gals, its Lt. Richie Scothcbreath!

Due to the new order about FELONY REVIEW being called for any police officer arrested (Hic-Up, Burp, Fart - oops, I just wet my pants) I am sad to announce that we will be cancelling and further "Pin The Tail" contests at Mt. Greenwood's TR's Pub.
(Hic-Up, Burp, Fart - oops, I just wet my pants)
We will be replacing it with something with less physical contact. Next week we are proud to introduced the "Find Lt. Jimmy Carroll's Imaginary Dog Fee-Fee Contest"

Lt. Jimmy Carroll will be our special quest and wil be in his trademark Fluffy Pink Bath Robe and Fluffly Pink Slippers.

Although this new contests has not been approved by the department or ran past FELONY REVIEW, I feel that it will work out fine. (Hic-Up, Burp, Fart - oops, I just wet my pants)

The solution is very simple: don't get arrested as a PO for anything. I haven't had much trouble not getting arrsted in my 25 years as a PO in Chicago.

I have watched many careers go down the tubes because certain PO's think they are smarter than anyone else or they think the rules they are supposed to enforce don't apply to them. They get caught up in shit and then complain when they are held accountable.

It's easy, don't do shit that can get you in trouble. How damn hard is that?

Don't go drinking in public. I never saw a PO get the Lambert Tree or other award after going out drinking till all hours. Plenty are in alternate careers due to over consumption of alcohol and other misbehavior. Don't do that kind of shit and you will never need to worry what felony review is up to.

OFF TOPIC, why do we need to buy any guns on this department, when we recover so many? Why not just have an armorer look them over and see if they are fit for duty. If they are not need in a case for court. Some of these recovered guns have not been fired or were only used in one or two drive buys. Per DICK DALEY we recover a lot of assault weapons, so I'm sure we can use them insted of buying more guns, like M4's. DICK why are you now trying to help the gun industry.... Who realy has this new gun contract?

We have to wait for hours with felony review giving them all the paperwork; criminal history chris print out, leads abstract, case reports, tickets, every detail of the arrest. Each time they call us back they ask more irrelevent questions. Then we get a refusal of a sure thing and end up wasting hours and hours on a misdemeanor arrest. The statute is usually pretty clear. Why does felony review need the victims rap sheet? Why if all parts of the statute have been met do we get refusals? Offenders with long arrest histories of felonies getting downgraded to misdemeanors or even if they are approved they get down graded in court. Felony review and the ASA's office is a joke. THERE IS A GOOD INVESTIGATIVE NEWS STORY FOR THE MEDIA! Why do so many people commit felonies but then never get charged with one? Makes perfect sense for us to be slapped with a felony for defending ourselves like Mike Mette. I'm almost done with being the working police. I only do it now for myself because I enjoy it and it makes my day go by faster, I soon will stop before I get jammed up for doing things the right way but having a beef none the less or because I was right but not perfect. Once again lets make the police the bad guys and the politicians will glorify the shitheads who are destroying this country.

This department as a whole is GONE! The city will burn in crime and gang activity, there will be no need to bring in the Fed to take us over. They can bring in the national guard.

ASA's, FBI agents, AUSA's. OPS investigators and other assorted individuals, such as reporters and reverends should be held to the same standards that they are holding us too.

Many of the above have been known to drink in the Loop and then drive to their suburban homes. We should do as the police in Lake County, Illinois and arrest and charge them with the crimes that they commit.

If J-Fed and his cronies attempt to intercede it should be reported to SCC and the media immediately.

Calm down.

I wrote this before and shall reiterate it.

Who's going to be the arresting officer against another officer?
A watch commander, other supervisor, a detective, the state?

You really have to have comitted a criminal act to have the above after your ass. More likely than not you probably deserve being arrested as well and you'll be an embarrassment to the rest of the CPD.

Official misconduct, "while armed" , and discredit to CPD charges, are add ons to other violations or allegations usually.

These charges are mandated by the mayor / or a federal rat, usually both in collusion to destroy existing or perceived corruption.

With this in mind, is it possible that the mayor feels like his police dept. is corrupt beyond repair? Was the mayor declared to be suspect by the justice dept for his own corruption? Was there a federal mandate offered to the mayor attached to the olympic bid application? It just seems to be possible that the shit rolling downhill currently upon a hard working and honest police community is actually coming as runoff from the TOP.

They need scapegoats and must make examples to deflect a digging media. Yes, j-ody is a goof, and a federal rat he is also the best way for a mayor to use as a tool for covering up mayoral corruptions.

I wonder why no one has ever demanded to know what Daley was doing as the States Attorney during the years of civil rights violations he has so convenietly blamed on Area bosses of the day.
Were those cash settlements offered as a coverup to his own involvements?

What better way to cover up than to balme another and point your finger in disgust. Bad police?

Is the best defence a strong offense?

It's not you police. Keep heart.

21st district midnight officer....this is a little off topic but this is an example of the great police officers we have across the city. a couple of days ago a couple of 007th district officers observed a car going 60 mph on 57 normal. the officer could not catch up to the car till 55th and wentworth and attempted to stop the car....the car refused to pull over and just stopped in the middle of the street....the officer asked the driver for his license and the driver said you dont have me clocked so leave me the fuck alone...not to mention the guy was not wearing his seatbelt or didnt use his turn signal...when the officer insisted upon his license the drier said im a cop leave me the fuck alone you aint gonna do nothing anyways...an argument ensued and the officers just left this idiot alone...as the officers drove away this idiot gets out of his car and writes down the car number the officers were working....he goes and crys like a girl to his lt. and makes up a bunch of lies and how the officers that stopped him were rascist and wants to get cr #'s on the officers. come to find out this idiot already has gotten cr's on multiple chicago police officers bc he keeps playing the race card. then the 007 district wc reprimands stopping the officer bc this idiot has 13 yrs on the job and that must mean that he is above the law. i dont know who is stupider the idiot or his lt. that sticks up for a guy like that...keep working the mean streets of 021 and keep getting cr #'s on your fellow cops

NOT a forum for organized BULLSHIT by DISGRUNTLED, PLAYER HATIN, PUNKS who obviously have nothing else going on in the sad sorted lives than to spend hours trolling this thing and spreading all sorts of meaningless crap throughout this blog than really while at times entertaining really don't help our situation.

We got an administration and a so called " UNION - f.o.p. and p.b.p.a." that is working against us and demoralizing an entire police force. we need to use the media like the Daley regime uses it against us every time our contract comes up and start exposing their activities that in the long run are going to endanger the lives of the general public when you have a police force that cannot protect them from the surge of violence that is coming around the corner at them this summer.

Although it's true and you're correct that officers should be staying out of trouble, you missed the point. The point is this; does the dept have to go out of its way to completely fuck an otherwise good officer who made a mistake? Don't get me wrong. If the officer commits a blatant felony then it should be a felony. However, if an officer does something that any other person would only be charged with a misdemeanor, why must they go out of their way to make it a felony just because he or she is a police officer? Look at Abbate. We all despise this prick, but was it really a felony what he did?

And what's your point with the Lambert Tree or any other award? I don't get it.

Go figure. You have someone one for a real felony and they don't even want to bother w/ a review because they make stuff and say. "You don't have to read me the law, I already know it says its a felony. But I already made up my mind I am not charging him with a felony and if you have it over ridden I will just have it nolle'd"

I am sure many have heard that from those crooked ass ASA's

Hey, Vietnam Guy here. I just checked this blog today and I wanted to thank whoever wrote "Viet Nam guy for Supt." I could sure use $310K a year, but my first order would be to pull Richie's bodyguard detail and put them on mids in 007. I wouldn't last long.

To the guy who said "you had to be 19 1/2 to get drafted, what do you say now" - thanks for letting me know NOW. I wish I'd been armed with your smarts when I was drafted at 18 1/2. Oh, and three other guys drafted at age 18 would sure appreciate your information except they're dead. (Lyle Francis, age 19, KIA in RVN 12/69; Mike Blanchfield, age 19, KIA in RVN 7/69; Mike Wade, 19, KIA in RVN6/69).

I left the job after ten years in patrol and became the police in Az. It has been seven years now I have no regrets. I miss Chicago from time to time and the people I worked with. But when I see these posts I am glad I am gone I have done more here with my experience from CPD than I would have done without clout in Chicago. If you are thinking about leaving and don't mind hot summers try AZ. just practice taking a polygraph evryone is hiring out here with decent pay and plenty of OT. And the police can still do the job without being judged by the media or Preachers/Civilian review boards.

What dickhead came up with this brilliant idea? Weis? Burst? Tiny Tina? Find out WHO the nitwit is that comes up with this bullshit.
Not too long ago, there was a meeting with the exempts and our new leader. Our man in charge, Weis, told the exempts: (in summary, not verbatim) " tell the Officers out there, I have their backs, Im supporting them 110%".
How? Oh, I got it, he's going to be the one that bends us over when they stick it in our ass!
I was all for giving the new boss a chance. I changed my mind real quick, I'm not gonna give him a chance to fuck me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an advocate of getting into trouble, but when our department is going out of its way to fuck us.... Why go out of our way to do our job? If it happens in front of us, or we get a call, thats one thing, but the only thing a lot of us are going "lights and siren" to is a 10-1! I won't sit here an say a "work slow down" or "blue flue", but just doing the job, NO MORE, NO LESS. "Sorry boss, didnt see any movers today, here's the case report, time to go home." Hustle to make extra on court time? I'll pass, time to get another side job. Aint wort it any more.
But thats what the bosses want; new inventory order for prisoners property; to stop some of the BS arrests like DOPW, 1 baggers... Cameras in the cars, traffic stop survey cards; are the police violating someones civil rights, profiling, do they have prob cause? Let's cover our (the city) ass come law suit time. And so on, and so on... Think about it, how many new bullshit GOs, rules, regs,... Have come up in the past 5 years or so, making it harder to do our jobs? If thats what they want, thats what they get!

While I agree that this department has gone to shits, all you guys need to wise up!
When I took my oath I never agreed to become a second class citizen or sign away my constitutional rights. I will sue the indivual p.o., sgt., w/c.,exempt,department, and city that infringes on my rights as a american citizen to consume alcohol in a licensed establishment and even in my home while off duty. At some point the department cannot dictate what you do off-duty, in your home, or in another state. I feel if I want to drink in D.C. in full uniform it is none of the departments business and they have no legal business to worry about my actions. If I act stupid and get arrested its my business.I am a big boy and will deal with the consequences. I doubt that Mike Mettes is concerned about facing administrative action from the department with his unfortunate incident. Now if the city is paying for my trip to D.C. then can set rules and conditions.
I am very amazed that the FOP hasnt challenged or even investigated if the city has legal standing to enforce these basic right infringements.
I for one will not take my time-out like a good little boy. Just like J-Feds name was on that case report and was named in a cr# his name will be on my lawsuit!!!Thats the only way this city learns just like to the tune of $100,000,000,million.

As I sit wondering WTF has gone wrong with the Dept. I can't seem to find an answer. When I left the Dept. in the year 2000 after 32 wonderful years and all the fun that I had at all the watch parties I attended where most of the coppers would get shit faced and party until day break then talk about it at the next 4 or 5 roll calls of all fun we had and the morale was 100 % all the time between the different watches . For all you young guys that have less then 15 or so years on , you don't know what you missed and it will never be the same again. Back then almost everyone enjoyed the job even at times when we had a shitty Supt. the rest of the bosses on the job were really good and stuck up for you when you screwed up . That's never going to happen in today's Dept. Something has been lost and I can't figure out why . Stop all the bashing of one another . That's all bullshit and it leads to the bad morale.
Please figure out plan and get this Dept back on track.

what's the felony review fax for?...obviously, to see if a police officer charged with a crime is upgradable to a felony (i.e., as another poster said, armed violence, official misconduct (a conviction for which voids the pension). etc. One wonders why the State's Attorney's office is so willing to review officer arrests, while getting felony review to review and approve generic and run of the mill felony arrests (where citizens are the victims) is like pulling hen's teeth....makes one wonder.....

4/29/2008 02:10:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

This is just what it, why do you call felony review? to seek felony charges!!

They are making a mountain out of a mole hill. The end result is you are going to jail for some trumped up charge. Weis is looking to have as many police officers arrested as possilbe.

I have delt with off duty P.O.s in custody and maybe on the brink, I gave them their rights and told them to keep their mouth shut and say and do nothing only to find out that they are yapping away, doing sobrity test and blowing breathalyzer test. All done with a worthless FOP attorney standing there and watching all of this go down.

The beat officers have to educate themselves on what has to be taken into the station and what they can settle on the street. IF THE SITUATION, LIKE ANY USUAL ONE,CAN BE SETTLED ON THE STREET-DO IT. You can make decesions, you don't always need a Sgt. or Lt. use common sense.

The order says if a policeman is arrested, NOT all officers involved in an investigation, on or off-duty, are under arrest.
Don't be shakey, make a common sense decesion, know why you made that decesion and stick with it.
Try not to involve the Sgt. Lt. or W/C.

Remember these a lot of these civilians, especially the ones that are out all hours of the night, are drunk, stupid and liars. Give your fellow officers the benifit of the doubt.

USE COMMON SENSE!

If you read the rules and reg.s, know the law you can make better decesions. Don't be so quick to say 'you're under arrest".

This post illustrates the difference(s) in the mind set and world view of a “fed” versus a “local.” I am a retired fed but I come from a long line of cops and I know the view from both sides of the fence.

With a fed now at the CPD helm – and for whatever it’s worth - here’s some insight into how and why feds act and think the way they do…I’d bet the farm that most feds are bewildered at your adverse reaction to what they're sure to view as a really simple, routine and reasonable change in policy.

The “fed” view: had this FAX come into any field office of any federal law enforcement agency, the reaction would have been: Huh? Why are they sending this shit to us? Some goof in D.C. must have screwed up…We don’t get arrested; we do the arresting. This wasn’t meant for us…this is either a mistake or an over reaction to something else.

Then, after it’s been determined the FAX was legit, it would be dismissed as a typical, meaningless, bureaucratic, knee-jerk, overkill reaction from Washington…some jerk Agent must have gotten drunk and slapped his wife around and now they’re gonna overreact by threatening all of us with some B.S. that 99.99% of us will never be impacted by…”

So the thought would be: “Why should I waste any time worrying about this since I ain’t doin nothing that’s gonna get me arrested in the first place?”

The local view: On the other hand, you guys are all up in arms that if you take a pinch for ANYTHING then somebody’s gonna screw you and upgrade it to a felony…this reaction indicates to the “typical fed” that “you must be doin shit in the dark that you don’t want comin to the light.” There is just no way the “typical fed” could read between the lines and see that your adverse reaction to this seemingly simple policy change is actually more consistent with “the dog that’s been beat too much” than anything else. Paranoid, gun shy, and unwilling to take up the hunt anymore seem to characterize the reaction.

On the other hand, seems to me, that had this FAX had fallen into a healthy organization the view would be: “Hell, they could upgrade ANYTHING from spittin on the sidewalk to a misdemeanor to a felony to a ticket straight to hell and it wouldn’t pay me no never mind cause I ain’t doin no wrong anyhow. F--- them!”

But the cynical and paranoid reaction to what should be a very simple order is indicative of an organization that’s bleeding much more than those at the top can see and worse -- indicative of bosses out of step with the issues faced by the rank and file. Hope somebody picks up on these warning signs and acts before it’s too late….if it ain’t already.

God bless you and please be safe!

If this fax has any merit to it, then we are in BIG TROUBLE. Think about this: you come home from work, your old lady is still super pissed from the fight you two had the night before. She calls 911 and says you whacked her, (which you did not) you get taken into the station and now you don't want to give up your administrative rights, so you shut up. Low and behold, the w/c calls ASA and he/she charges you with a felony, armed violence etc. etc.

We are certainly in some very troubled time here in the CPD. As a senior officer, I wish I had all the rights answers to give you out there, but I don't. Use common sense.

J-Fed has overstepped and twisted his ideas of how a department should operate. By the way J-Fed and the other carpetbaggers you brought in...the CPD uniform is OUR proud tradition. You guy's haven't earned your keep here so continue to wear your three piece suits.

The new policy has nothing to do with hating the police. The policy is telling you that u the nobody, stupid, and bias police officer cannot be impartial when dealing with one of your own. This will backfire in the State's Attorneys Office face.

If I the lowly police officer cannot be trusted to be impartial with dealing with one of my own how then can I be trusted to deal with anyone??? That is the first thing I would bring up if I was a defense attorney and had a jury trial. The police cannot be trusted and the new policy proves that point.

Once again u can thanks Abbate for this. The media made it look like the police covered for this turd. That was the furthest thing from the truth.

To the friend who wrote:
This post illustrates the difference(s) in the mind set and world view of a “fed” versus a “local.” I am a retired fed but I come from a long line of cops and I know the view from both sides of the fence.
''''

Thank you for your insight and all should take heed... There is another side to this though and to those saying "just don't get arrested" pay attention...
Another difference between the fed and the local is you guys work on very long, impersonal cases where we deal with the quality of life issues for people we say everyday. It's hard when a group of seniors are complaining about a bunch of thugs taking over a corner, scarring the seniors away from walking to the store, the pharmacy, the post office, the voting place, it hards to have the constitution in mind. These seniors could care less about these shithead's rights, and rightly so, look how the seniors rights are being violated. Forever, local policemen have always done what needed to be done to maintain order and to make it so at least some innocent folks could walk around unmolested. No we are being threatened with arrest just for doing the job the way it's been done forever and for the way it must be done or there will be anarchy. The founding fathers never intended that gangs of thugs have a right to stand on the corner and scare away legit, contributing, citizens. But some lawyer whose goal is to win an argument to show how smart he is thinks that's what they meant. I'm sorry, i don't think George Washington, John Adams, or Thomas Jefferson would have stood there scratching their heads saying "boy, I sure wish i could make things better for these honest folks but I can't violate the rights of these shitheads...These were men of courage and action, just like many local policemen over the years. But now we face prosecution for doing what has to be done and that's the rub and that's the fear. I know I won't ever hit my wife, I know I won't ever shoplift, I know when to call for a ride home..What I have to learn now is to just stand back and watch as evil takes over and citizens become prisoners in their own homes, that's what I have to learn...Jesus, we need you man....

Felony review can only upgrade certaim certain criminal statutes. Some simple advice - do not break the law. Stop worrying about shit that you shouldn't be doing in the first place.

Correct, dont do anything wrong. Here's an example where it could go all wrong and you did nothing. Some asshat relates that you threatened him. Say the asshat says, "The guy said he was going to blow my fu*%in head off, and he was a police officer". All he needs is another asshat to say he saw your gun and describe it. How many cops have a black semi auto. Now the cop can be charged with armed violence.

If the department and the CCSAO wants to play games then play them as well. Don't lie down on the job. Rather, go out and make a late pinch. Talk it up as if its the crime of the century and call Felony Review for charges. Bother the shit out of them!

If you lock up some asshole for fighting anywhere but in his house, yard or somebody else's house or yard, ask for AGGRAVATED BATTERY ON THE PUBLIC WAY or AGGRAVATED BATTERY IN A PUBLIC PLACE OF AMUSEMENT, ETC. Do it!!! Do it all day long and all night long!!! They will not charge but who gives a shit?

The ASAs run errands, go home, shop, etc. when they are not assigned to review cases. Thus, take up their time. You won't get charges but who cares?!!! This shit is all a joke anyway.

When its all done, drop a big slip for overtime and check the money box!!! If you're adverse to using handcuffs, DON'T write any movers or parkers!!! Don't Don't Don't (and don't tell me about your oath either...that applies in a Utopian society where the policitians are not corrupt and the police are rewarded for hard work, not prosecuted for political purposes!!!)

Play the game people, play the game. Make them pay. Bother the shit out them!

I love ya, but consider that your post contains the following stand-alone paragraph:

"This may or may not be true. We're looking for more verification." You should have connected this "stand-alone" to the later paragraph rather than giving a literal reader like myself the impression that it referred to the felony review fax. Whatever. If you need editing help, just let me know.

This is all fine and dandy and your observations on the above are pretty much on the mark. It's a bit worse than that but you're close.

What J-Fraud doesn't realize is that if he promises to change things and watch our backs, he better produce. The only things he has produced so far, and hasn't opened his mouth on, are the flat out "fuck the working police" policies. These orders were enacted with his signature attached to them. We could be told a thousand positive things but the only thing he's doing is completely the opposite. His deeds speak louder than his empty words.

Facta Non Verba

BTW - Pete and J-Fraud will not be seeing me Sunday. I have too much respect for our fallen to see these ignorant asses don the uniform these officers proudly wore before their lives were taken. I'll donate to the charities a little more this year to make up for the insult to their families.

May I suggest an action, not a job action nor a boycott of St. Jude's, instead a very personal action I myself have already discussed with my kids..Should I ever be killed in the line of duty, God forbid, my kids know that Mayor Daley and J-fed, and any exempt who is not a personal friend, are not welcome at my wake and funeral. They could care two shits if I die or not anyway and my family is smart enough to know they wouldn't be there for them either..Although I pray a Chicago Police Officer is never murdered again I know that sadly one day this will occur. Perhaps if more officers agree to ban Daley and company from their services we could distribute a type of Last Will and Testament addendum that all members agreeing could sign and then send one copy to FOP. Perhaps some reporter would care to report on it if it should catch on..Now you may all think me an asshole but should someday I die in the line of duty, Daley and Company will not be at my services. And should they try and force the issue my kids know to hold a Family Only service...At least you have no control over that part of my life, or death as it were, you little piss ant...

The thing is, only the 'local' view matters to the locals.

If the feds were to apply their efforts to the real criminal, like the ones we citizens allow to be continually reelected, maybe then there would be some respect for the 'federal view'.

As it is, the feds are no better, and, in their own way, much worse than those whose crimes they ignore.

The feds' actions are even more politicized than the locals.

There is no joy in Muddville......

I like the post written by the former feeb. It was enlightening as well as to the point. How many of you out there are really worried about getting locked up? I am over 40 and been on the job 17 years and have never been arrested. Not even once. Never been arrested, ever, and I have no plans on getting arrested anytime in the future. I cannot call myself the hardest charger on the department, but I wouldn't consider myself a dog either. I go out there everyday and do what it is that I have to do to keep myself, my partner and the people around me safe. On occasion someone goes to jail, but it has never been me. If you are that worried about getting arrested while a member of this department then you have a lot more to worry about than the department calling felony review on you. This is just smoke and mirrors. He's is trying to show the public that he is in charge and that he is "cleaning up" the CPD, when we all know that we really don't need all that much cleaning. If you are out there doing your job and not taking money, sleeping with whores, dealing drugs, beating your wife, driving DUI then you really don't have a whole lot to be worried about. If you are out there doing that stuff, then you probably should be worried because I am quite sure this guy is going to go the whole 9 yards on your ass. There sure are a lot of Chicken Littles out there nowadays. The sky is falling, the sky is falling!! Whatever!! If you aren't doing anything wrong you have got nothing to worry about.

Please leave the midnight in 21 PO's initals. The only color I see on this department is blue! I work in a district where this PO probably will drive through.... and I'll give him a piece of my mind along with every ticket I can think of. Sad to say that this dept has these kinds of people. I once though I would never write a copper, but if you want to be so sad as to play the race card. Then try to get bogus CR #'s on coppers, then my friend Karma is waiting for you. I can't wait to see who disaggrees with me about this post..... there's always those people.

OFF BEAT, the morale in the 008 District looks the lowest I've ever seen.

1st watch seems good, other than the general consensus that the dept wants to hang everyone, the troops seem to get along well enough and back each other up.

4/29/2008 03:43:00 PM

What's up with all the talk in 008? The 1st watch has some great bosses. Best kept secret. I'm not sure what's going on in the 3rd watch, but there are some spratte haters there....

Why does this blog contiunally let people use it to degrade other coppers EX. Richie Scothcbreath. We are going thru the hardest time in department history. Why don't we use this tool for good to stick togethr. Why use it to rip into coppers we don't like. unless the info is important like a boss who is fucking over cops, why take you time with this cowardly personal attcks. The operators of this blog should understand, that for better or worse, they are a tool in the hands and lives of many coppers. THis tool can damage alot. Many coppers use this to get info when they are in the dark. false info leads to sleepless nights. How would you feel if a copper belived the flase shit on here and hamred himself or his family as a result of ignorance. Sure cry cencorship, but there should be some responsiblity

Don't go drinking in public. I never saw a PO get the Lambert Tree or other award after going out drinking till all hours. Plenty are in alternate careers due to over consumption of alcohol and other misbehavior. Don't do that kind of shit and you will never need to worry what felony review is up to.

4/29/2008 06:43:00

I am not a human being with friends ? I am not allowed to go out and have a few drinks with the boys because the supe says so ? fuck him and anyone who thinks like him. I am not saying that I want to go and get bombed out of my mind, but, this is getting a bit ridiculous.

I have been going to St. Jude's Parades since Richard J. Daley was mayor. Richard M. Daley has never gone to St. Judes, and frankly I wouldn't want him there.

March for your fallen comrades and for the camaraderie.

What we should do is to picket J-Fed and/or Richie at some big event, like at the Olympic Committee.

If Richie could see us together, he might fear us just a little.

>>>>21st district midnight officer....this is a little off topic but this is an example of the great police officers we have across the city. a couple of days ago a couple of 007th district officers observed a car going 60 mph on 57 normal. the officer could not catch up to the car till 55th and wentworth and attempted to stop the car....the car refused to pull over and just stopped in the middle of the street....<<<<<

Now this would be a good one to have on video.

I don't get the Spratte (8th Dist) bashing. He is a great boss and would never hurt you. The majority do like him, so don't listen to this idiot.

And it isn't the bosses in 8 that has morale down...it is that this department sucks to work for anymore. Seems like JFed is more interested in locking up police than bad guys. We have seen an unusual amount of good officers stripped in the last few weeks for bullshit, so basically nobody wants to really do much more than we have to.

2 guys stripped and ordered to blow Sunday night while off duty when they witnessed a fight at a bar. Neither involved in the fight only witnesses. Where is our FOP!

4/29/2008 07:29:00 PM

Why, why, why ...does this keep happening? If all they did was witness the fight, do like evry other good citizen and don't get involved. No one has to know you're the police, so when they ask if you saw anything, tell them, "No."

Better yet, when a fight breaks out, leave. A friend of mine owns a bar that has a 4 o'clock license. When I stop in, I make a habit of leaving by 2, because nothing good happens after that hour. And, I make sure he knows when I leave. That way, if something happens, he can't claim I was there and didn't do anything.

Be smart and stop showing your star to avoid paying a cover and stop telling people in bars you're the police.

I'd like to know if the copper from 21 that these guys stopped showed you a star AND ID. If not, you're soft. Why would you cut anyone a break who gave you attitude like that. I can understand trying not to escalate things if he really is a PO, but that had better been confirmed. Just because someone knows the right things to say and has an FOP sticker doesn't mean they are the police. And lastly, I would always cut another PO a break on something like speeding, but come on...if you step to me with attitude like that, all bets are off. I take enough from the general public and politians. I'm not taking it from other PO's as well. What happened to being respectful and polite when stopped by the police. Jags like him are when so many other departments don't respect CPD. I wonder what he does to the general public on duty.

PO's should re-learn some of the methods practiced by old times: hit the hole frequently and do little or nothing.

Last I heard they can't indict you for doing nothing.

This department is going down the tubes in a big hurry. 1st and 16th and take care of your family, that is all anyone should be concerned with.

Don't get jammed up trying to be the police, it isn't worth it. Do only what you have to do, no more. Reach retirement with life and pension intact.

Screw the mayor and screw this inbred FBI snake motherfucker superintendent.

Do not for one second that Jody Weis has our interests foremost in his mind. He has absolutely no understanding of what it is we do. He's a FED for christ sake! He is NOT here to help us.

Hey, the mayor is NEVER at St Jude. At least not this mayor. I was told by a Lt. assigned to the mayor's office that Sunday is his day to be with his family. I have not seen the stuttering prick at St Jude since he has been mayor. Fine with me too because he is not welcome.

I guess Harld's Chicken was too busy to accomodate the sergeant's?

You baby's in 018 gotta stop crying every time an outside officer eats in one of "your" restaurants. I didn't know Freddie Hoffman was assigned to 018 ?

I remember when I was assigned to Public Housing North. A couple PO's from Housing were eating in a restaurant in 018. A couple 018 officer's that were in the restaurant tell the waitress not to extend any courtesy to the Housing officer's.

No wonder you guys in 018 need outside units to handle the projects. Your too busy enforcing the "police Discount" laws?

FYI boys n girls, Had a trip to the Medical Section recently for my so called Mandatory Drug Testing.....Was told that the city wants and will probably get in the new contract......ALCOHOL testing....Thats right boys and girls....testing for alcohol in your system.. When I told the P.O. so what if you have alcohol in your blood.....what are they gonna do to you.....they are trying to say that the alcohol would be in you system if you had a drink within two hours of being called down to test. So that will be an indication that you are an alcoholic or that you are a cronic drinker.....They then will test you swiftly in another couple days to see if you have alcohol in your system again......ANYBODY in the UNION paying attention to any of this...???? Be careful all you nooners/and daytime dollies who party late and sleep till you have to go to work....or 1st watch guys who think no one will know I had a few watching the BB game....

Call for your sergeant. Now, you have a witness AND the sergeant can give the guy a direct order to produce his DL & ID. If he refuses, voila! A CR is obtained for failure to obey a direct order, conduct unbecoming and whatever else this jagoff did.

This happened many years ago to a gal up north. Like this idiot, she refused to stop. When she was finally pulled over, she got out and pitched a bitch. A sergeant was called, she was ordered into the district. Instead, she took off. She took 30 days for that.

Oh yeah, she's no longer on the job. She got fired a few years later for cussing out the WC, Sergeant and pretty much the entier desk crew.

There are ways to take care of this idiot.....

Hey 812, We keep chasing out this car . 4 dr Ford Contour Gold Temp tag 839j737. They are scoping out garages over by 63 rd and Nashville. They have been seen about 6 times and no one can ever catch them. They run over to LeClaire Courts 44pl and Cicero. It looked like they handed off something to a male hispanic in the alley between Narragansett and Nagle at 6200 south. Someone needs to catch them before I do. In my fucking garage!!!

I disagree with simply ignoring J-Fed and the brass during the St. Jude's March.

I would prefer that we do "eyes left" and make eye contact with our middle finger deeply inserted in our right nostril.
