Count Us In

  • KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Reuters) - A Missouri car dealer said on Thursday sales have soared at his auto and truck business since launching a promotion this week that promises buyers a free handgun or a $250 gas card with every purchase.

Max Motors, a small Butler, Missouri dealership that has as its logo a grimacing cowboy wielding a pistol, has sold more than 30 cars and trucks in the last three days, far more than its normal volume. And owner Mark Muller credits his decision to start offering buyers their choice of a $250 gas card or a $250 credit at a gun shop.

"This thing has taken off. Sales have quadrupled," said Muller. The store sells both used and new vehicles including General Motors and Ford products.
We like his thinking. Open post for weekend stuff. It might hit 80 over the holiday. Will the monster rear its ugly head?

I like the concept

Which bring up a good point. How about Chicago realtors offer a free shotgun with every home sale?

With the purchase of every home, the buyer gets a Mossberg 500 shotgun. This would go a long way towards making Chicago a safer place, and who could possibly argue with this common sense promotion?

Off Topic, but necessary. Grumblings heard in 001 and 701 that J-Fed would be riding the green line friday night. As I was perched in a pristine spot, I observed 2 vehicles park at the Jewel at Roosevelt and Wabash. Low and behold out pops J-fed with a crew of no less than 7 other lackeys. I'll say six because I am sure his bride was there as well. He can't be missed with his "I am a bodybuilder I need more space than necessary" walk. They don't get on the green line, they attempt to get starbucks, which was closed, then pile back in the car I'm sure in search of a caffe latte. Did he mean riding the green line, or driving by it to get coffee? You wanna see how it is, how bout grabbing a partner (ONE), not a crew of 4 bodyguards and 2 note takers and ride any one of those lines to see how the everyday citizen has it along with your patrol officers.

All you PO's whine about how bad you got it. You're gonna shut down, be less aggressive, whatever.
Then you crybabies living in Garfield Ridge, Norwood and Edison Park, Mount Greenwood and the rest of your isolated little Copland enclaves bitch about the lack of police presence and activity.
You can't have it both ways.
One day something is going to happen to you, or your family, and a non aggressive cop is going to handle the matter-how far you think that'll go? Call it karma.
And before you start spouting off about how you'll take care of your own,say that bullshit for your bar talk. All you cops do , especially on this site is back bite, backstab, and
generally fuck over each other, especially in one far south district that regularly tickets off duty and retired po's(006).
Its good that SCC has this site so the public can see how sorry some Chicago cops are. And you talk all of that shit about how you're not gonna be aggressive anymore...did you talk that shit to J Fed , the mayor, or even your commander's faces? You can't and won't because you'll be publicly humiliated and slappped down like the little bitches you are. and btw you po's working in districts 1,12,13,14,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,and 24 have NO reason to whine at all. You get free money everyday just for showing up.

A $250.00 Gun Card will retain it's value over time.

A $250.00 Gas Card will loose value quickly.

DISCOVERCARD has a 5% credit card rebate program for gasoline purchases. So $4.00 a gallon gas effectively becomes $3.80 a gallon. You can redeem the rebates on-line, for gift cards, many at the rate of a $25 card for $20 in rebates. So for years everybody on my Christmas list has gotten cards from Borders Books and Music, Bed Bath and Beyond or Omaha Steaks.

Costco/American Express has a 3% gasoline rebate program.

A bit Off Topic, but related to gas and transportation...

There have been many TRU and other officers who are finding themselves with long commutes. Living in 016 or 025 and going to 006 or 005 is going to burn people out pretty quickly and gas prices will keep them broke. There are probably some officers who live far south, who would be willing to trade a spot in 011, 015 or wherever for a shorter drive to work. Just an idea, instead of waiting for openings to develop, the FOP could conduct a survey, for a one-time, one for one trade of personnel between districts. If it works, then some cops will not be traveling across town six days a week to get to work passing other cops doing the same thing going the other way. Gas prices are hitting the sky, why not? If you like the idea, fine, if not, it would be a one time shot to make people better off and no one would be asking you to go anywhere.

Stay safe, and get a locking gas cap.

They're not giving you much of a pistol with a $250 credit, but I salute the concept. :D

I'd get in trouble with that. A $250 gift card wouldn't make my $500 gun any cheaper, it'd make me look at guns for $750. Maybe $850 if there was a really good deal. :)

I hear there were three shot on the corner of 13th & Homan. 12 or 1300 hrs.

Then maybe something in 22.

It could be a banner weekend.

Hey Jodie Woo Woo, I'm sure both of these area's of the city must have missed the show of force (or silliness as the REAL Chicago Police say)

Why don't you throw on your stolen uniform and go out and throw a stop on some of these innocents out there.

to 10.21 am If you think you work too hard, the bids come out every month to go to one of the districts you just mentioned.

Most of us in those districts have worked ghetto earlier in our careers, did our time there and left.

Quit bitching about us because you are unhappy, do something about it.

If you don't like your circumstances, change them, you have the opportunities to do it here.

Subject: Doctors vs. Guns
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000

(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health Human Services.

GUNS

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188.

Statistics courtesy of FBI
So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, 'Guns d on't kill people, doctors do.'

FACT:

NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.
We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.
