Cop Injured

  • Early reports had indicated that the officer struck by a car was a bike officer, but all officers involved operated cars, said Chicago police spokesman John Mirabelli.

After hitting the officer, the suspect's vehicle fled and entered the Eisenhower Expressway, where it traveled east in the westbound lanes, police said. Officers in another vehicle attempted to arrest the suspect, resulting in a crash, Avila said.

When both officers stepped out of the car, the vehicle "moved in the direction of [one] officer" and his partner fired, Avila said.
The articles are unclear if the driver was also apprehended. Best wishes to the Officer, who is said to be resting at home.

As always my prayers and thoughts are with the injured officers plus the other officers who put themselves in harms way to apprehend the offender(s).

Glad the cops win another round.

Yesterday's Scumtimes had a story about a police Lt from Florida who was fired for demanding free coffee from a starbucks store. I thought why is this news in Chicago? Today's Scumtimes didn't mention the police officer from Florida who was killed in the line of duty by some shithead. ODPM.ORG

Dear "ShavedLongCock":

While my colleague, wagonman Harold Stiffcock and I enjoy your acerbic satire, your pseudonym "shavedlongcock" begs the following questions:

Is it true that you are, shall we say, "well-endowed"? Remember, girth can be much more critical. Do you or perhaps your lady friends shave your pubes?

Just curious. Please explain the etymology of your somewhat salacious nom de plume.

* * * * * * *

By the way, a district mourns. The only Starbucks on the mean streets of 011 (3350 W. Roosevelt Rd.) is scheduled to close.

And we thought that like "our fearless leader" J-Fed, the residents of North Lawndale and Garfield Park had an insatiable appetite for premium espresso, latte and mocha brews.

Oh, well. With the sultry "dog days" upon us, I'm certain that the Fillmore economy will still flourish with snow cones, malt liquor, grape pop, hot links, FUBU summer attire, Kools, Newports and needless to say--Flamin' Hot Cheetos.

* * * * * * *

Glad to hear the injured officer from the Ike chase is okay.

Be extra careful out there.

What were the injuries to the first officer and how did it initially occur?

Did the chasing CPD officers then disregard the public's safety by following the suspect's car in the wrong lane too?

And because the chasing officers put themselves in that position, possibly causing the traffic accident, the officers further put themselves in the position to shoot an individual that will sue them in federal court.

Because after the battery to PO and a few traffic citations, did that individual deserve to be shot after he "pointed his vehicle" in their direction.

The officers put everyone on that highway in harms way with flying cars and flying bullets!

Thanks, that's the Chicago way! Maybe things will get back to normal now.

First of all, let me stress that I I am happy the officer is ok.......but,

This is an example of the city demanding more activity to stay on a tact team or mission cars that will be getting officers hurt. Let me explain.

According to the newspaper link, it sounds like the the officer jumped in a guys car during a narcotics investigation and was dragged.

This probably means the officer was desperate for an arrest , jumped in a guys car for a dime bag or a small amount of crack after the entire tact team started a surveillance, and was dragged a short distance. The officer is home so he was not hurt badly, thank god.

This dime bag investigation then resulted in a car chase placing hundreds of citizens at risk.

The chasing officers may have contributed to the car crash by continuing to chase the suspect.

When the suspect "pointed his car" in the officers direction (oh really), an officer fired his weapon hitting the passenger, not even the driver according to the link.

First, the officer missed his/her target and hit the passenger. Second, what if that bullet hit a pedestrian or a civilian driving home from work??

Now what, all this bullshit from the department wanting more arrests! These incidents will continue to happen from bullshit arrests and the demand by the upper management of the Department for more activity.

Without doubt, the officer that shot the passenger will be sued, and sued hard for hitting the passenger, and the officer will lose sleep and wonder if punitive damages will hit him also.

Again, all from the pressure of bullshit, activity number driven activity to get the Olympics and to ease the minds of the store front reverends.

Before everyone rips this post, it is not about the officers whom I have great respect for, but about the City asking US to sell our souls so they look good. We don't even have a working contract but they demand more and more from us.

Officers, no one cares anymore! What else is it going to take to get that message out. Most will not learn until they are sued or indicted.

Thats what this post is about.

God bless officers.

Obviously you are not the police. If you are Then there is truly no hope left for this job. IT'S VERY SIMPLE.... WE GET THE BAD GUY. PERIOD. WE MOST CERTAINLY GET THE BAD GUY AFTER HE HAS INFLICTED INJURY ON ANOTHER POLICEMAN. In case you haven't given it much thought if we continue to let people get away officers will continue to get injured. The crime rate will go up. Citizens are going to be victims whether we chase jaqgoffs or not. But maybe if we catch a few of them or kill a few of them maybe the next time the jaggoffs will think twice about committing a crime in Chicago.
Maybe some citizens were put in harms way that night... maybe not. I wasn't there and neither were you. Maybe because we got these guys the next time dude thinks about doing something stupid he'll think about this incident and decide not to run. To be honest I don't really care what happens to the public anymore. THEY judge us, hate us, and don't want us to "endanger" them by chasing or shooting a bad guy that tried to kill a policeman. So FUCK YOU Mr P.C. I Love OBAMA Liberal Communist. You gave up your right not only to bear arms but the right to be protected from me. I have my guns to defend my friends, family, and neighborhood, now it's your turn to hug these fuckers and see how far it gets you. These animals will kill you sir, make no mistake about it. Please remember this post when someone you love is murdered or raped by one of the animals and remember that you were warned. I will sleep well at night with my gun under my pillow. I know that you will sleep in denial holding on to your liberal beliefs and "NEW HOPE" close to your bleeding heart. The worst is yet to come so put your OBAMA sticker on the back of your HYBRID and keep your ignorant faith. THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE A POLICE OFFICER MAYBE YOU SHOULD THANK THEM INSTEAD OF SECOND GUESSING, JUDGING, or HATING THEM. LOVE US OR HATE US WE ARE THE ONLY THING KEEPING YOU SHEEP ALIVE!

Anyone remember the "balancing test" when it comes to deciding whether or not to engage in any particular situation (not just traffic pursuits)?? IF IT'S TRUE that a P.O. jumped into a hype's car to make a simple PCS arrest, then that copper is a fuckin' idiot, plain and simple, and should be thanking his/her lucky stars that he/she wasn't hurt worse or killed. And while I wasn't there, I have been around long enough to know better. And to the asshole poster beating his chest about "IT'S VERY SIMPLE, WE GET THE BAD GUY - PERIOD", go fuck yourself. You probably don't fully understand the ramifications of what's coming down the pipe to the officers involved - particularly the one(s) who dropped the hammer. Living at home with your parents and not having any kind of responsibilities, investments, property, etc. obviously has you fanciful and carefree. I'm not saying you have to be a coward, but you've got to learn discretion and how to prioritize - FOR YOUR OWN SELF-PRESRVATION. Please, go get the "bad guys". But take a good, hard, long look at the bigger picture. I'd hate to have to buy a ticket to your benefit when you step on your dick. I'D REALLY HATE to have to attend another copper's funeral. Food for thought, my friend. Stay safe everyone.

First off, the officer is fine. Just some cuts and scrapes thankfully. They pulled over the car, which had been driving erratically in the first place. While leaning in, the car took off, dragging the officer for a bit.
Once in custody and brought to the hospitals, it was found that the 2 were as high as kites, if not higher, and 1 had a warrant and was hellbent on not going quietly.
The 015th district did what they needed to do to get these 2 dumbasses in custody. God forbid that had the pursuit been terminated, these 2 continue to speed away and end up wrecking further on the expressway killing a family of 4. Then it's the officer's fault for letting them go.
Again, good job to my officer's in 015 and I hope the injured PO is back on the streets soon.

re 7/19/2008 08:00:00 PM

Points to ponder:

1. "In case you haven't given it much thought if we continue to let people get away officers will continue to get injured."

How will officers get injured when the 'bad guy' got away? Ie., 'bad guy' sees the police, 'bad guy' flees, good guy writes the report, end of story.

2. "The crime rate will go up."

It already has. So what? Isn't that part of the leverage needed to accomplish 2 very important goals?

One being the citizens realizing just how vital their city's police officers are, and, two being those same citizens putting pressures on the politicians to cease and desist engaging in the activities that have resulted in the police no longer being allowed to be the police?

3. "Citizens are going to be victims whether we chase jaqgoffs or not."

So, why chase them?

4. "But maybe if we catch a few of them or kill a few of them maybe the next time the jaggoffs will think twice about committing a crime in Chicago."

Jagoffs don't think once, let alone twice. Haven't you learned anything about the nature of jagoffs by now?

5. "Maybe some citizens were put in harms way that night... maybe not. I wasn't there and neither were you."

Maybe, maybe, maybe......

Sounds a lot like 'Silly, silly, silly....'

6. "Maybe because we got these guys the next time dude thinks about doing something stupid he'll think about this incident and decide not to run."

Once again, 'dude' doesn't think, 'dude' justs does what 'dude' does, 'cause he's 'dude'.

7. "To be honest I don't really care what happens to the public anymore."

So, WatChaBitchinAbout?

Why let anyone raise your blood pressure?

You read the blog.

Fools!

You think that things have changed because the media is emphasizing crime stories rather than police misconduct stories. Crime really isn't up that much, but the media is making everyone believe we are on the verge of anarchy. You talk of the pendelum swinging back. It won't.

Nothing has changed.

The officers are on their way to civil court where they will be sued by the bad guys and the other people on the highway whose cars were damaged and who undoubtedly suffered back problems after learning this was a police chase.

J-Fed will hold off on discipline because he wants short-term activity. Right before he heads out in 2010, he'll come down hard on these officers and others to get another corruption-fighting job in another city.

The crime stories will subside when the first snowflake falls and the media will start again with the misconduct crap. They'll dig this story up after making a deal with the PI lawyer who will give them the inside scoop on whatever discovery materials he comes across.

Nothing has changed. Your job, your pension, and your freedom are in more danger today than ever before. It takes years for this bullshit to come back on you. Remember that when new tact spots open up after the department cleans house this August.

Are we supposed to just let these guys go?

Yes.

Unfortunately the coppers on this scene will learn this the hard way. Their hearts were in the right place and they followed the law, but in the end none of that will matter.

After a Cook County judge lets both offenders go free, there will be a nice long civil trial with many plantiffs and many lawyers. There will be much talk of general orders written by people who never did police work.

The media will work with the lawyers to taint the jury pool enough to force the city to settle. The media will then complain that officers are costing the city money and will commence with shaming these officers.

The new boss of the department will respond to the media blitz with much discipline and more public shaming.

Yes, you are supposed to let those guys go. Even better, you are supposed to not stop them in the first place. But, its your job, your family, your reputation, and your money at stake, so you do what you want.
