Cop Killer Tried Previously?

Evidently, not the first time he attempted to kill a police officer. From the comments:
  • Can someone let us know how we can alert the media that this asshole's conviction for attempted murder was for the ATTEMPTED MURDER OF ANOTHER POLICE OFFICER!!!! He took three shots at a uniformed officer when they saw him near a gang wake wearing a holster (about a block from his "neighborhood watch" site).
Gee, we wonder what, if anything, this slime may have learned in prison from his last stint.

UPDATE: Frank Main earns his check on the back of the blog...again. Thanks for catching up Frank. How about a dinner once in a while?

From what has been posted thus far, he got NO time for his first conviction for burglary. None. Crook county gave him probation. I'm sure that the victim was thrilled at "justice" in our fair city.

Then he does time for attempted murder. The third conviction for a felony, for burglary, and he's out in one year on a six year sentance. Had he stayed behind bars where he belongs, a cop may still be alive today.

Thank you Crook county judges. Thank you for getting him so little time on repeated felony conduct. It's good that he became a neighborhood leader and a good Muslim. I bet he even voted. I wonder for whom he voted?

Like I have said a million times over. let it all go to crap. Its wont get any better until we let it fall completely a part.

Back each other up. Keep the loved ones safe and let the city go to hell. Why put anything at risk for a city and a mayor who could care less?

As usual, another successful prosecution by the Cook County States Attorney. Guy tries to kill a police officer and given Baby Time for attempt murder of a P.O. Guess all those liberal parole board bastards believed the "rehabilitated" bullshit! Then again after he got pinched for U.U.W. Then again after the burglary conviction. But lets hammer that copper that got hit by a couple of drunk illegals even after the judge threw the case out!

You young guys keep up all that POLICE WORK! The city and the ASA's and Da midget and the Supt. and your Commander and your Captain and your Lt. all appreciate it!

WTF.. Anyone catch the wgn news where they interviewed a "neighborhood resident" who said this pos might have thought he was being robbed and thats why he started shooting. Or maybe its because he tried killing a cop before, had cocaine in his mouth and was carrying a gun and knew he was gonna go back to jail for most of the rest of his useless life...hey media why do you put these ignorant assholes on tv??

I read somewhere on this blog long ago about spouses forming a group to get better working conditions in the past. Can this be legally done again and will our spouses face scrutiny if this happens? We the families want to do something....anything. We are tired of unsafe working conditions and worrying if when they leave for work if it will be the last time we see them. So how can we help?

9/29/2008 08:11:00 AM

Spouses and children of police officers are forced to live in this rotten city because of their dedication to their spouse, who is dedicated to this rotten city job. Everyone in the household suffers from the Chicago stress.

Perhaps contacting the Gold Star families may be a start to gaining information about organizing this type of group.

Please share information about this.

That's the fucking problem! I bet that piece of shit didn't do his whole time either! Nate would probably still be among us if it wasn't for these liberal pieces of shit! The blood is on the hands of who ever lessen the sentence of this cop killer.. SCC we need to know how much time did this cop killer actually serve for his attempted murder on a PO and why the fuck he was back on the streets. So we know who has blood on their hands!

This morning's Sun Times mentions the fact that Lamar Cooper served 3 years for firing 3 shots at PO, and that the PO did not return fire for fear of striking a bystander. Also the "suspect'"s grandmother thanked the PO for not killing Cooper. Too bad the circumstances didn't permit it--Nate Taylor would be with us today.

Also, ST has a brief editorial praising Officer Taylor. He deserves it, but the editorial doesn't begin to offset the tons of negative publicity we get.

Also, it seems Hizzoner has decided to make the manpower shortage permanent and just cut the positions from the budget. Just when you think things can't get worse . . .

Oh come on SCC, I know you have to know the media by now. They dont give two craps about the police, unless we get painted in a bad light!!! If it is good or even looks good for us, it is not newsworthy. Just look at who they are interviewing on the street, the assholes family and friends who of course are saying he is a great guy who was coming home from praying and probably thought he was being robbed. One neighbor said "Why are the police doing search warrants that early" They are already trying to spin this to make this appear to the idiots that this tragic event was the Officers fault!!!
God Bless You PO Taylor, patrol the streets of Heaven and please watch over your brothers and sisters here.
To the PO's family, you are in all of our prayers, please dont listen to the media.
Stay safe all of you.

Three years for shooting at the police, par for the course as far as the Crook County States Attorney office goes. Folks we have many fights to fight out there to make this a better, safer job, however our #1 fight should be against the CCSAO. After years of seeing the insensitivity, to put it lightly, by the CCSAO in their either not approving charges against the felons who try to kill or hurt us, or their ridiculous plea deals they come up with or the nolle pros (dismissal) they so often like to use, I'm far past being disgusted and angry. I urge the FOP to devote energy towards the cause of making our voice heard and putting CCSAO on the hot seat when they continue to make these flawed deals and decisions.

But somehow, the media still can't resist sticking a camera in the face of this scumbag's clueless neighbors who portray him as yet another member of the "good boy" club.

SCC,

If Frank Main is going to buy you dinner make sure you get a handjob too.

Reading the blog today about this and the beating of the off duty PO and the newspapers about the city budget cuts just makes me think of the word "handjob".

What a world we live in. I don't expect perfection, but I won't accept incompetence. This town needs an enema.

First off and of utmost importance to my fellow family of CPD; my heart is heavy like most of yours! When we get ready and leave for work, we plan on coming home each and every day after our tour. Today was different.Today, a fellow brother took the ultimate detail, guarding the almighty such as many others are...... So here i sit with a heavy heart, but moments before reading this bathroom wall called a blog i was on fire. Then i went to the nleomf website, read some of the poems,etc... and quickly changed my tone...... To remember that we truly must live everyday as it may be our last, and cherish each and every day with family and friends. It didn't take long to find the following poem like a previous poster did. I'm sure one day Officer Taylor's child will write such a poem and move others and this one did to me. We all must remember that everyday were at work,on duty, and not at home family members worry and wait until we return.....The following is from the Late Officer John Knights son:

A KNIGHT TO REMEMBER
by Matthew John Knight (12 years old)

His name was Officer Knight
He didn't get much chance to put up a fight
His killer shot him dead
And Knight was eternally put to bed
His wife said to be safe that day
But he had an ultimate price to pay
He loved the city that he served and protected
He never wanted anyone to be neglected
Knight has been put to rest
Knowing that his kids will do their best
Now his killer will spend his life in jail
With no chance of parole
Now the Knight kids will grow up with out their Dad
Who knows what kind of memories they could have had
But Officer Knight's children will move on
Even though their Dad is gone.

just read in paper-- he shot at a copper at the same address in 1990, was caught hiding in the backyard, and arrested. three years for attempted murder of peace officer. us govt wants to give cozzi 8 years for slapping a drunk slob. also, cooper should have still been locked up on another burg conviction but was let out early. how many years do you think someone would get if they took a shot at daley, devine, alvarez, gorman, navarro, etc... the drunk hillbillies kick the shit out of the kansas city royals first base coach in a public venue in front of thousands of witness. the guy is a senior citizen, it is in all likelihood a hate crime because he is hispanic, and he suffers permanent hearing loss in one of his ears. to coach gamboa's shock, both of these assholes get probation and both eventually go on to commit more crimes against the people of the state of illinois. why didn't the federal government step in and indict these two for violation of civil rights ???. i'm sorry if i am rambling a little, but the double standard is shocking and demoralizing. peace officers have become a doormat for people with political aspirations and media types. i still bleed blue and will fight to the death to protect another po. god bless and stay safe.

“Cooper was convicted of attempted murder of a Chicago police officer in 1990 and served about 3 years in prison.” (Chicagotribune.com).

About 3 years, is that like sort of 3 years or kinda 3 years. How many years would he get for shooting at a judge or a state’s attorney. THREE YEARS FOR ATTEMPT MURDER! Do you want to know why crime is up? Here is a clue – WE DON’T PUNISH SERIOUS CRIMINALS, WE EMPOWER THEM! Dick Devine and Dick Daley = 2 dicks no waiting.

It was police wives that showed up on midnights in 007th District and picketed the station demanding to see the Commander and Watch Commander stating that they wanted their husbands to work in two man cars.( Sorry female officers no women on patrol in the early 70,s) They had the media show up and the District Commander at the time Fred Rice threatened them with arrest but they refused to budge. Guess what all cars from then on were 2 man cars. If the gold star famalies got involved with police wives and did informational picketing in the districts at 1st and 3rd watch roll calls with their babies in strollers or in their arms on the third watch and with their older kids with them on 1st watch the Media would be all over it. It wouldn,t matter what district you did it in , however the more the Ghetto District the better the effect. Notify the Media I guarantee you they will show up. Dont do it on a weekend its to slow of a news time. Right after Nate Taylor is laid to rest ( god Bless him ) would be a great time. Make picket signs with pictures and photos of officers Killed in line of duty while working 10-99, Rick Francis, comes immediately to mind most recently. Plan on several days to make it most effective. Picket in 001and 18 would get the most coverage.. Stay on th sidewalk, dont block pedetrian traffic from coming or going, stress officer safety, citizen response time and adequate safe staffing level in line with national standards. Get your stats ready to go. Have the numbers regarding the number of two mans required per watch , number of two man wagons required per watch , and the Actual numbers put out on the street each night get at least one months stats. ( might take a little behind the scenes work by an undercover desk operative) have the stats to back up your claim. Get the numbers of POs assigned to each of the watches get the total numbers assigned to your targeted districts and the numbers detailed out. Detailed out to where god only knows. Do your homework ladies, you and the kids can be more effetive then you think. If you cant bring the kids with you put their pictures on your picket signs Have them saying bring my dad or mom home safe, give them partners. You can do it it worked in the 70,s Media pressure is great, Be sure to notify CNN and FOX National News, got to get this little prick on the run. Bring a video camera and video tape your actions, Send copies to the International Olympic Committee, I bet FOP woould support you with some expenses for food , water etc. You dont have to stay out all night, Just about 2 hours before and after each roll call time. Be prepared for everal days of it, and get media statements ready to go, Provide handoouts with the information you have gathered and pass them out to people coming in and out of the stations. These are the citizens you need to support your actions, the shortages hurt them too. They are your allies not enemies. GO FOR IT WIVES, SPOUSES, SIGNIFICANT OTHERS, you can do it.

Officers, respect what these women may do for us all, support them , recognize them for their love for you and all police officers and their famalies. How, agree with them and when they show up go in and see the W/C and tell them you want a two person car. Suddenly the 8 one man beat cars working on the 1st Watch are now 4, 2 man cars.
Think that would cause a RAP and a call out to operations command and the Street deputy as well as the D/C at home.

Retired but around in the 70,s

I hate this county and the weak sentences given by its corrupt courts. used to make a ton of arrests. Search warrants, surveillance, the whole thing. No longer. If a defendant convicted of attempt murder of a P.O. does not get at least 25 years, then this job is not really worth doing right. Fuck Cook County.

We also need Female support of a Daley Center Protest, Wives, fiancees, sisters, girlfriends, we need all . Kids if old enough would be good also. It must be kept clean of Alcohol, Profanity, fights, etc. Remember, the Media will be watching for sure. 100% Professional is what we need, without fail. No punks in stupid clothes, no vulger signs, no nonsense, RAP Music, or otherwise, or it will be turned right around and thrown in our faces by the Liberal Media. They'd love to make us look even worse before Election time.
