Media Coverage

Coverage of Officer Taylor's death:
Be forewarned, there is some truly crappy reporting at some of the links, giving credence to all sorts of bullshit stories and excuses. If you notice the post directly below this one, a Philadelphia lawyer and columnist calls out the communities in which much of this violence exists and doesn't pull any punches. We imagine she's going to take a bunch of heat for her words.

The policeman stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, policeman, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My church have you been true?" The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint. Because those of us who carry badges, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny, Lord, That wasn't mine to keep. Though I worked a lot of overtime, When the bills got just too steep. I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I felt some fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, Among the people here. They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fear. If you have a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand. I never expected nor had too much, But if you don't.... I'll understand." There was silence all around the throne, Where the saints do often trod. As the policeman waited quietly, For the judgment of his God! "Step forward now, Policeman, You have borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat, on Heaven's street, You have done your time in Hell!!"
Rest in Peace fellow brother, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family

Well the Chicago Sun Times and the Chicago Tribune both think the Bear win over Philly is more important than an officer's murdered in the line of duty. The second officer murdered int eh line of duty in two months,no less.

Take a look at their websites.

Here's the link to CLTV's article. It's actually good and says the 'officer was gunned down' (not the offender). Bad guy did six years for attempt murder. They made it very clear our guys were wearing jackets marked RAID and were identifiable as police. No reference to the 'sister-in-law-we saw earlier.

Oh, and comments are not disabled. (Just don't give them an excuse to close it out.) Check it out now, since it's likely to evolve as more info is available.

Fuck the media, fuck the city, fuck the bosses. You go out there and do what you swore to do because your fellow officers are counting on you to be there when they need you, just as you are counting on them to be there for you. Back each other up. Don't be a hero and wave off your assists. Be proficient with that weapon folks. You are not a civil servant like a fucking garbage man or a ditch digger, you are a warrior, like it or not, this is what you swore to do. Get that mfer before he gets you. Don't expect an attaboy from anybody other than your fellow officers. We all knew what we were getting into here, and we all stayed.

R.I.P. Officer. And may the Lord hold your loved ones closer during this time of terrible pain & loss.

To those of us, his family in blue. Remember, we have NO life to 'give' to this department. Another 1 of us has been stolen, our loss is deep & painful.

The Mayor, City Hall, Department, Media & a fair amount of the citizens of this City could care less about us.

We will come together in a SEA of BLUE - to surround the family of our brother with the love & caring that no others will give. We will continue to do our best to look out for one another, because - that's what we do.

The time for anger & outrage over the medias blatent lies, the Mayors fake tears and Jodys feeble attempts to understand this loss will come soon enough. Right now? Push it all aside, bring out the dress blues... again, and stand proud with your 'family'.

This is our time to grieve, our time to come together as the real 'CPD'.

Yes. We are angry. No one is doing anything to help us - we will take matters into our own hands and do whatever is in our powers to ensure that Officers Francis & Taylors lives as CPD were not in vain. We are short staffed, but still large enough to create a roar so loud that the Mayor and those beneath him can't ignore.

Be safe & come home.

The Chicago media are a huge part of the crime problem in this city. Their politically correct bullshit reporting generally excuses lawlessness and criniminality and looks at the police as a vehicle to sell ads on and make money on. Its sickening. Every victim is a fallen boy scout turning his life around and every offender has an excuse be it poverty, racism, bad luck, whatever. I could rant on this for pages but there is no point in doing it here since 99% already agree. Rest in Peace Officer Taylor.

Now my outrage has taken over. Here we have an Officer doing his sworn duty who is gunned down by a criminal. Yes a criminal - IR# and sheet to prove it. Fast forward to the Channel 2 coverage. Here we have a female 1 reporter having the nerve to let a "neighbor" of the shooter who the neighbor descirbed as a "hard working family man who was good to his kid, always helped out." Then this assholes final comment was something along the lines that the criminal was shot because blacks are always wrong or some bullshit statement like that.

As I've said here numerous times - write em!!! write em!!! every time you see one of these news trucks blow a light or stop sign write em - every time they're illegally parked write em.

I've said my piece. God Bless you Officer Taylor you will be missed.

I am currently out of town and very disappointed that when I pull up the Suntimes and Tribune on my phone, this officers murder did not pop up as one of the top stories, I had to search for it! Two men had passed from this earth and appeared before God. God looked at one of the men standing before him who had his head bowed humbly before God. Studying him closely, God noticed that the man was scarred all over his body and his soul was heavy with life’s burdens. God then looked at the second man who was about the same age. The man stood proud, without any scars or the burdens of life weighing down his soul. God asked the man about his life and the man replied, “I’ve taken great care of myself, minded my own business, and lived as peacefully as I could, I’ve never fought. God leaned back and said, My Dear, Dear Child, haven’t you found anything on this earth worth fighting for?

Dear SCC...i know alot of police officers the past few days have had alot of mixed emotions of sadness and mourning.

Specifically, for losing one of our own in such a tragic way..however, mines is more of anger because of several things that happend after the call of a 10-1 "OFFICER DOWN" was given out of the air of surronding radio zones>>
first and foremost ...i have never met 499 and i dont plan on meeting him, but i just dont understand why 499 would disregard cars that were responding to the scene after the 10-1 was given out....the p.o. who was injured was still on-scene...shot....cliging to life. Wouldnt you think you would need those cars to make a route so the ambulance would as quick as possible. God forbid i was in a situation like that with my partner but i would want everybody and anybody to respond.

My partner and i looked at each other "baffled" at such a stupid decision. After that, i didnt see one single white shirt in route with the ambulance on the way to christ.

Secondly, the ambulance that was on its way with the p.o. didnt know where the "hell" it was going. Listen to the tapes that night on zone 6 and you could hear angry po's shouting at the parademics because the eventually took him to the wrong end of christ hospital after the fact that they took the long way to get there. After taking him to the wrong entrance, they missed the the intersection where the emergency entrace was at. For about two minutes this ambulance was attempting to turn around at a dead end intersection. At one point a p.o. almost dragged out the driver and tried to take over himself. All this technology this day end age and the thing that cfd amb. needed that nite was a map.

Finally, who decision was it for our injured brother to go and take a trip to christ...while this shit-bag gets to go to stroger.
In the end this piece of filth is still living and our brothers family is planning funeral arrangements. i always have agreed to the fact that if one of my partners our myself were injured, i better go to stroger.

In my mind, i cannot stop thinking that all these stupid and avoidable occurance "mattered" because seconds in this situation where a matter of life and death.

midnites zone 6 p.o.
my condolences to the taylor family.

We need to call a march on city hall now! We could call for a peaceful march in the name of our three fallen brothers. When the media asks questions let um have it. Screw the warrents! It isn't worth it. Screw the city, they don't care. We need to take care of our own because nobody else is. Where's Daley at?

And if we do have a march we all need to show up, active retired, police family memebers, everyone, not just a few hundred officers, we need a few thousand.

We also need the FOP to hire a PR firm. It's time for some good PR. The city's has a PR person and so should we. We need our own commercials to let the public know actually what is happening out here in the streets.

Let's embarrass the heck out of this city. Shame on Daley, this is your fault and you have to answer to God for your actions.

This should really be a reminder for all of us to never take a single day for granted and to never miss an oppurtunity to tell your friends and family how much you love them. The stuff on this job in the grand scheme of things is meaningless and after all the fake tears from mayor daley and all these other exempts he will be in some star case at 35th michigan forgotten except for his friends in family. In honor of this officer,i would like to ask everyone out there to call that friend who you have not spoken to in a while. Tell that friend you love them and how special they are to you. Go up to that coworker who is going through a rough time and make the time for that person. We need to use this as a reminder to stop the petty bickering we have with each other and to treat each other better because all the tears and the regrets when a person is gone does nothing. It is how you treat the people close to you when they are alive, that is all that matters.God bless officer taylor and his family and god bless cpd.

I post some comments on here occasionally just to rile up you cops, and I don't always agree with the sometimes wildly right wing comments on here, but this a great place to get a pulse on the city. And no respectable human being ever wants to hear news like this. I'm saddened for the city's loss of a great cop, despairing at how his wife and young daughter must be feeling, and further disappointed that the worthless piece of human debris that shot him will get room and board for the next 100 years instead of shuffling off this mortal coil and going to whatever hell Muslims believe in.

I'll knock back a cold beer in honor of Chicago PD this evening.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Taylor and his family. My thoughts and prayers also go out to Officer Taylor's fellow brothers in blue. Everyday I fear for the safety of our police officers. Chicago has become such a violent city to live in(third largest city, first in homicides). I fear for the safety of my family and my husband who happens to also be a police officer. Our mayor does nothing to quell the violence in this city nor provide for the safety of its police officers who put their life on the line everyday to help keep us safe. The mayor's first priority should be to protect the citizens of this city and as such should provide enough (properly equipped and fairly compensated)police officers to do the job. This should be his first priority! Daley has lost site of his priorities and another police officer has lost his life because of his(Daley's) ineptitude. I pray for the day my husband can retire and we can leave this city. I pray for his safety and that of his fellow police officers everyday. I have nothing but the utmost respect for all you do to protect us and keep us safe. Please be safe and know you are always in my thoughts and prayers.

The Scum-Times quotes a neighbor as saying "why does the car have 8 to 10 bullet holes in it if they were doing a search warrant?" Well neighbor and liberal writer, the reason is because the officers were ATTACKED ON THE STREET BEFORE EXECUTING THE WARRANT! Why this paper can't let an officer be a hero for a moment is beyond me. The damn "victim" gets as much ink and quotes from family and neighbors as does the officer and department. I was on the scene and had to listen as the people of the hood laughed at one of our own being killed. Reporters heard this, but why print that? What has come of the day when we had so much respect for police officers? That when they were near you it was like God was in the room with you and he was watching over you and you felt so safe. When you were on the streets and you saw one you knew that were out their protecting you and you had that same feeling. I fortunately still have that same feeling and would walk the street with any police officer but unfortunately fear more the other guy now because crime has become so prevalent because were not letting them do their jobs any more. They can't go out and do what they're supposed to do with out second guessing every action and the heat of bad moment do we want them to have to take a second longer to make a decision because someone might think it was the wrong one even though we know it was the right one and in that second longer it took him because we made him question his actions he gets shot or things just go horribly wrong. What have we done as a society to these brave people who go out day in and day out to protect us against all those crazed people who lash out in anger for who knows what reason. But we just need to step aside and let them do their job and give us a safe place to live again.

From Fox:

Kenneth Hastings said Cooper and his wife, Octavia, were friendly neighbors who often went to the area mosque.

Hastings, the father of Cooper’s stepchild, did not know what Cooper did for a living but said he was very “handy” and did construction jobs. Sometimes, he helped with his wife’s catering job...

Hastings said hours earlier, police removed a car with eight to ten bullet holes in the windshield.

“If they were serving a search warrant how do you get eight to ten bullet holes in a car windshield?” Hastings said.

200 assigned to Narcotics
500 assigned to vice,mass transit,k-9,airport(s)gang intel,swat,gun teams,etc... and that's being very liberal...
Now...the backbone of the Chicago Police Department.....The beat cars...There are 279 beats citywide and you need 8 officers to man a beat car so...........
279 x's 8 = 2432..NOT including rapid response cars, 06 cars, mission teams etc.... OK Math again.....9913 Total minus all of the above leaves us with 5,788 police officers and those numbers I am sure are even lower...Now out of those 5,788 subtract your beat car officers,2432...leaves you with 3358 officers.

So what we have here is something close to 5500 officers working the street and of those officers there are furloughs (vacations), days off, too don't forget that...So Mr Mayor....let us ask you this question.....How many "Patrolmen" that work the street , in a beat car....not assigned to special units or administrative work etc do we have?? 13,500 right???? WRONG!!! according to my VERY liberal math we have about 5500!!
Mr Mayor...your city is burning...you need to hire about 4,000 officers YESTERDAY.....Now tell us some more lies.

God Bless Officer Taylor and his friends and family at this time of need. Its time for us and the FOP to step forward and voice our displeasure with the Mayor, Exempt Supervisors, media and other politicians in the City for their lack of support i.e. no contract, the constant hunt to fire Police Officers, calling police murderers victim after Officers shot the OFFENDER, allowing these idiot family members speak and put there interviews on t.v. To hell with all of them! If anyone is to blame for the division between the Police and them are the ones mentioned above.

"A Dying Declaration"

I worked hard for you
Put in mornings, days, and nights
For this was the job I was born to do
I'm a sworn Police Officer through and through

I wore my shield proudly upon my chest
Holstered my weapon
Shined my boots
And tightly secured my vest

The hours were long and
The paychecks small
But for the friends I have made
I would change nothing at all

I never changed the world
Now we both know this is true
But I never thought this would happen Lord
I was one of the brave in blue

I lay here
For the first time the sirens sound so loud
How can this be happening Lord
I served my country proud

I worked hard for you
How could this be
I wasn't suppose to go like this
He shouldn't of got the drop on me

When you fold my flag
And hand it to my wife
Tell her I died heroically
Tell her I lived a good life

I always upheld the law
Acted fairly without prejudice
But now as I go Lord
I ask that you promise me this

Tell my girl her daddy is proud
Allow her to reach the top
So I can rest peacefully
Knowing she never became a cop

Please know that there are many citizens who pray for you every day, and are greatful when you respond to our needs.

I hate it when the media interviews a family member and you hear "my baby ain't done nuthin".

SCC, Due to the current environment between the city and its police members thanks to the mayors lies concerning man-power shortages, climbing crime rates, never a timely and fair contract etc, it would be nice for out of respect for Officer Taylor as well as all of the officers in attendance, the family request the mayor not attend the funeral. If there is ever going to be a march on city hall protesting officer safety, man-power shortage, time off denied, contract negotiations, what if immediately following the funeral services, we all meet at the daley center.

MUG and HUG

A police officer is killed, I feel bad for his family, friends and partners.

Why is there a photo on the front of the Sun Times of a police lady clutching her bottle of water as she gives the big hug to a fellow male officer.

Why is it, afte I go to page #2 of the Times that the same male officer is jot hugging yet another female officer along with still half-hugging the same waterlogged officer from the first page. How many ladies is he going to hug. Since when did the group hug enter into the police officers form of grieving. Why do these nitwits pose for the news photogs.

I know an officer, an a good officer died. I feel bad, I have over 40 years on this job and have been through this a nubmer of times. Death and dis-appointment is part of the job, you have to handle it. I've have handled investigation into these kind of cases. You can grieve but you have to seperate that from the business of investigation. I've done it seveal times.

Stop mugging for the news and be professonal.
God bless Nathaniel Taylor, Jr.

Why do these idiots in the media give the block where the officers house is and then proceed to film it, with the address clearly visible. The only way they are getting this information is thru the department. Someone needs to put a stop to this before the shitbirds family decides that some retribution is in order.

No worrys about where Officer Taylor will spend eternity, Heaven awaits him, because he surely served his time in hell here on earth keeping the lid on the garbage can, trying to keep us all safe in our beds.

Yes fellow officers we protect each other when your off duty at home sleeping weather working midnights days or afternoons your brothers and sisters in blue are protecting you and yours.

Citizens of Chicago fear not, Brave men and women from the CPD will continue to respond, resolve and ease your pain and despair although we are considered expendable by some bosses and elected officials. We know the majority of you respect the job we do and need us on that wall, you want us on that wall to quate a few good men, thats where we want to be . All we want is support, resources, manpower and equiptment, and an evenhanded prosecution of offenders with swift and certain justice, that is one of the basic tennants of an effective criminal justice system. That is not available today. We will continue to protect you the best we can, even at the risk of our own lives, because that is what we do.

Ocassionally one of us goes off course and embarasses the rest of us, believe me that hurts us more then it hurts you. We have been betrayed by one of our own. The Media uses our actions, inactions and mis-steps to sell newspapers and get higher ratings. We know that but yet we continue to fight the fight. We will be there when you need us Just help us get there quicker. We need help. The staffing levels although the administration claim are at 13,500 we dont believe it. If it is then it isnt enough. We have our guns and training and each other to protect ourselves but we need more to continue to protect the good people of this city who are under siege from the gang bangers, dope dealers and other assorted shitheads. Get to your aldermen demand answers, staffing is dismal and dangerous not only for us, but mostly for you.

To Annie Sweeney, Maureen O'Donnell and Lisa Donovan a big fuck you for that report. Did you ask the neighbors if maybe they also got high with the offender? Or maybe buy drugs from him?

What the hell is the matter with you? Where is your conscience? Why do you interview these useless people?

I sent an e-mail to CLTV to complain about that bit with the asshole's family and here's the response I got:
"Thank you for your feedback on our news coverage. As with all stories we cover, we work hard to insure that we are accurate and sensitive when reporting on victims and suspects in any criminal case. When that story involves a police officer, we take extra care to sort out the facts as best we can on tight deadlines. Our intent is to be netural and objective, not to take sides.

Your e-mail has helped us to look closer at how we handle such stories going forward.

Thank you for watching CLTV."

NYPD has protests everywhere Mayor Bloomberg goes during their contract negotiations, why cant we! It is time to make our voice heard, keep the pressure on city hall, do what they fear most.....stay together and form a sea of blue to protest the Mayor, Alderman, media, and these phoney reverends! The time to organize and march is NOW!!! Where the fuck is the FOP??????? They should have a press conference proclaiming our outrage at the MURDER of P.O. Taylor and why the piece of shit was even out on the streets !!!!! They should take out full page ads in the papers to show how dedicated and heroic the men and women in blue really are, full page honorable mentions for good deeds by our brothers and sisters, and fallen brothers and sisters who gave the ultimate sacrafice. Why are we silent when we have the largest operating budget, over a billion dollars, and we sit back and do nothing? WHY?

Upcoming March on City Hall

The date is set for Wednesday, October 8,2008 at 1000hrs.

Be there rain or shine if you care about your safety, contract, rights, family and the City of Chicago. Please bring relatives, friends, coworkers, retirees and anyone who cares about the quality of life in the City of Chicago.

Design your own signs and keep them courteous and respectful.

The reason for selecting this date is simple:

The next meeting of the Chicago City Council is scheduled for Wednesday October 8,2008 at 10:00a.m.

We had tremendous success in our last City Hall protest, the contract was ready within weeks. The NYPD has had great success in the past demonstrating at One Police Plaza and at New York City Hall.

Please conduct yourselves in a respectful and courteous manner.

Anyway, a copper named Mike Shields who is running for a Pension Trustee spot was all over it. He confronted Huberman face to face and even gave an interview to Fox 32 calling BS on Huberman's pension grab. This Shields guy even brought his own camera. He asked a Pension Board secretary (ON FUCKING CAMERA!!) why she gave Huberman a private office as a waiting room while a disabled female PO on crutches was made to stand. Excuse me, but where is the damn outrage in our city?????????????

WE have lost yet ANOTHER star and I am so incredibly sad yet also angry as hell!

No disrespect in this post but it's time this city/state passed tougher, rigorous laws against these armed savages. Tomorrow I am off of work and faxing Daley and the Gov. about passing such laws.

We also need MORE officers in our city and to raise morale ASAP aka better treatment to all of you.

Ironically, I was so upset at work today that I had one of you call me @ our corporate facility for assistance and I got the call.

Guess what?

He is a vet w the mounted unti and we talked for a long time. It turns out he tells me after I tell him I have a small memorial that he mentions that the mounted unti has been naming the horses after recently killed LODD stars. I did not know that. He said they have Solorio, Doffyn & a new one for PO Gordon.

He made me laugh though when he described the horse: feisty as hell -a rebel yet will allow anyone to pet him and everyone loves him.

It sounded just like him.

In the end, this Officer on the phone was thanking me... when we should be thanking him. You see, this is our CPD, their attitude. Always looking out for us, and not for themselves.

I'm sorry this is so long but now it's time for you to demand MUCH BETTER.

My heart and love go out to all of you and it saddens me so very much typing all of this ... I promise to do anything I can to help you.

Yes!!

It's funny, ironic not haha, that there are crimes committed every day in Chicago, yet not one criminal.
Contrary to what the media reports,
or the play revrunds claim, criminals do exist. Our job is putting those criminals in prison.
It's rewarding to know that at least for a short time, the crap locked up today is not victimizing anyone for a little while.

We need to contact THE COMMERCIAL SPONSORS of the media that chooses to slant the reporting against us. We need to contact the sponsors and tell them that you will no longer purchase their products.

We need to contact friends and family members and have them join us in this boycott.

I would take my partner or a police officer to either one. Christ was closer, if Officer Taylor didn't have a pulse on scene, we take him to the closer trauma center. I have alot of respect for the CPD. I know what you have to deal with on the street. (CFD will take you to whatever hospital you want) My heart aches for you guys to be burying another. I was assigned to the firehouse at 40th and Dearborne when Officer Ceriale was murdered in August of 1998. It seems like yesterday....and we have lost too many more since then. You guys need to march on city hall, the animals are out of control, and Daley needs to be held accountable for the mess he has created. The media is our enemy too, turn off the tv while you mourn, it will only make your blood boil. My condolences to the brothers in blue and Officer Taylor's family. No brother cop should die in the line of duty. But it happens. You guys that came on here, saying I'm just answering calls, not being proactive.
Ok, thats your gig.Guns taken off the street 50% down from last year. Your your worst enemy.
Sorry, but if I had to ride with a do nothing because he didn't get a 4% raise, I would rather shoot the SOB, and I almost did that Years ago in 11.
2 man car which was a rairty. On foot chasing an armed guy and partner didn't call it into squad operator. Didn't have hand held at that time.
So, you hot shots who do nothing because you don't have a raise or a new contract. Look in the mirror at the guy who may have made a difference by being proactive and gotten that piece off the street and saved a brothers life.
Ya, older and retired and sick of hearing they, who ever that is of not having my back.
Know the law and operate within it and the gray area is and has always been a problem and thats why we have a judical system.
As far as the guys who completely f--ed up and got fired or suspended, thats part of the game except for the Bro in Iowa, a clear mis-carriage of justice.

OT, but....was at the Pension Board today to get payout info and walked into a shitstorm. Fox news covering Ron Huberman's effort to get credit for his CTA service. Total Bullshit. I never worked with this Shields guy, but he stood up for us, for sure.
he has my vote. See if you can get the video SCC. Its got to be really funny.

9/29/2008 07:09:00 PM

SCC, you've got to put a post up with a link. I found it on You Tube. I searched the names Shields and Huberman. Frickin hysterical. Michael Shields has some gigantic balls. Good for him. Hope he does not get sent to midnites in 002.

Can someone let us know how we can alert the media that this asshole's conviction for attempted murder was for the ATTEMPTED MURDER OF ANOTHER POLICE OFFICER!!!! He took three shots at a uniformed officer when they saw him near a gang wake wearing a holster (about a block from his "neighborhood watch" site).

And the shitbird lives on! Why?

I just watched channel 9 news at 9:00pm. This was not only the biggest mistake I've made today, but I actually cried. They interviewed a neighbor on the street who said she didn't understand why the police would serve a search warrant at that time of day and (get this) maybe this asshole thought Nate was going to rob him. OK, I'm done with channel 9, actually I'm done with the media. There's only one source we can count on ot trust and that would be . . . US!

We had tremendous success in our last City Hall protest, the contract was ready within weeks. The NYPD has had great success in the past demonstrating at One Police Plaza and at New York City Hall.

Please conduct yourselves in a respectful and courteous manner.

I was there. PO Dan Shields led that protest from the sidewalk up to Daley's door. Check out what his brother Mike is up to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgyQhiIJCes

Un-fucking-believable. The vid is worth a post of its own. Those boys have the balls we all wish we had. I'll vote for Shields to guard my pension.

On the Huberman thing, pension credit for his CTA service would only give him about 12 or 13 years. Well short of the 20 he needs. So, is Ron going to stay at CTA for another 8 years. Doubt it. Or is Daley smoothing the way for Ron Huberman's return as police superintendent once he runs J-Fraud out of town? What up wit dat?

By the by, the Shields-Huberman video on youtube is freaking awesome!!! Someone to be proud of, finally.

We are all fighting a war out there, and Nate was a warrior. This is for my friend Nate:

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

We will break the faith Nate. Thats a solemn promise.

The media is unbelieveable. 18 min into the 2100hr newscast before it is even talked about. WGN and FOX all had to talk about the Wall Street bail out, house explosion in South Holland, Sox game, and why the yuppies can't drink past the 7th inning up by Wrigley, and how Huberman want a pension because he is acting as a Policeman with the CTA. What bullshit! The Abbate and Jeffeson Tap were the lead story for days! Just goes to show you where everybody in Blue stands. STAY SAFE. You, your family are the most important thing. Maybe it's time to march on City Hall AND F.O.P. Headquarters.

reply" - dude I marched downtown at city hall several years back when all unions in the city gathered to fight for better pay and pensions, etc. busses were supplied and left from all 5 areas. the bus i was on had 3 passengers including myself. good luck getting coppers to all come together. the police presence in attendance that day was embarassing.

OT When the city budget is set at the beginning of every year the police department is budgeted for 13000 officers AT TOP PAY if there are not 13000 oficers on the payroll where is the money that is in the police budget for the 13000when there are only 9000 on the payroll- I know this is a fact.Top pay includes every police officer
rookies and officers that have not reached top pay yet-so in other words if there are only 9000 police officers on the payroll where is the money for the 4000 that are not on the payroll.

I was at the pension board today too. The Sergeant's worthless rep, Mike Lazzaro, along with the Lieutenant's worthless rep, Mahoney (or maybe Maloney) and the worthless rep for the retired, Ken Hauser, had the votes to deny Huberman pension credit for his CTA work and they took a pass. All they had to do was vote along with the active rep and it would have been over, but these three pussies voted to defer. This was because a City-appointed vote was missing and a completed vote would have spelled doom for Huberman. On behalf of Mayor Daley and Ron Huberman, many thanks to the puppets Lazaro, Maloney and Hauser. Who gives a fuck if the pension isn't funded.

Anyone that votes for any of these three pussies is an ASSHOLE and can kiss their pension good-bye.

Hauser voted to DEFER so the City could round up its votes. F THAT!! Mike Shields and his bros did a good job, too. I'm voting for Shields - would vote for Underwood if I could. When you were not onscene, please don't fault 499 for stopping more cars. The last thing someone needs at that point in time is a car accident to make another situation. I wasn't there and anyone who is mentioning this obviously wasn't either.

I am however a zone 8 cop and feel sure 004, 006, and 003 flooded the place quickly, and even though it was east, 007 is pretty darn quick about getting where they are needed.

I am not brass and don't know who 499 was, nor do I care. We are all angry and looking to blame someone for anything, let's not blame someone wearing a badge.

The shithead who pulled the trigger is the one who needs to be blamed. The parole board who set this felon back out on our streets needs to be blamed. For heavens sake, I could type out blame all night.

499 was in a terrible position that night, his watch, his district, and this happened. Please, let's not start blaming each other.

The media has always sucked. However, I get joy out of watching them self destruct.

They (media) had it good for so long that they became complacent. All of the sudden they woke up to find that their "business model" had changed. NOW they are all scrambling to remain relevent.

BUT, they are losing. Example: the tribune is hemorraging money. They just redesigned the paper, and couldn't even give them away today! Nobody wants to read this shit.

Also, I am laughing at the strokes at the Reader. These dumbshits from Florida bought that liberal rag a couple of years ago for ALOT of money. Today, it is reported the new owners are throwing in the towel. The READER is shutting down and declaring bankruptcy!

GOOD RIDDENCE!

And one more thing. I'm sick of some of these elected posts such as the pension board or FOP going to guys that are going to sit around on their ass and do nothing.

These are no longer positions that an old timer deserves. Look at how Robbins lets the pension raiders come in and steal without even batting an eye.

Pay attention young guys, cuz you gotta live with the decisions that are made today.

When does this pension board mail out the ballots? I remember last ime they gave you one week to return it. That's nonsense.
