No Publicity Benefit?

There's a benefit for Rick Francis tonight at Barleycorn's on Clark. Unfortunately, the Department refused to authorize posters because Barleycorn is on some sort of "watch list" as a problem establishment. That's why no one has heard of this event.

In any case, you can see the Bears game there tonight. No idea on tickets, prices or times. We'll assume 6pm or thereabout since it's an evening game.

UPDATE: 7pm start time, but we imagine it's going to be a very somber event in light of today's shooting.

Although Rick was a "Rock" for his family, I think you have a spelling error :)
What a shame that they would not advertize for this great policeman and his family! God Bless Rick and his family.

Rick Francis's benefit tonite at Barleycorns on Clark from 7pm - midnight. $30 donation ticket at the door provides non-stop food and drink. EVERY single penny goes to Rick's family, thanks to Barleycorn's generosity. They just ask you to tip the bartender and waitresses. The Department and the City refuse to acknowledge this event because Barleycorns got too many calls for service this year, to wit: bullshit Cubs fights and your usual suburban/yuppie amateur jagoff drunks. Gee, that's a surprise being right in the heart of Wrigleyville. You'll even get to watch da Bears blow another one. Fun for all!

Watch list? What BullXXXX, I work over there and they don't like Daley or the new Commander and let it be known. Chicago politics as usual.

"the Department refused to authorize posters because Barleycorn is on some sort of "watch list" as a problem establishment"

The Problem is Barleycorns isnt kicking back hard& deep to the powers that be. That's the rub, one can easily read between the lines.

There are lots of problem establishments East of Barleycorns in Boystown. Like SPIN on Halsted& Belmont, just ask noted bar patron Huberman. These Dens of Depravity seem to be immune from scrutiny??

We had an issue like this planning a Retirement Party. Who in the world designates something as a problem bar, etc. I could see if we were having a Party at North and Laramie, but wrigleyville? This depatment has gone far deeper than pathetic when we are not allowed to advertise Benefits and such because of some red flag system developed by probably Keating.
I, myself had no Iea about this benefit until Friday night and I am disgusted at the fact that this department didn't support it enough to allow publicity.
I apologize to the Francis family and wish great success to the benefit committee on tonights event.

Probably b/c those assholes turned over video tapes from the fight involving cops a few months back.
F*ck them. They aren't getting a penny of my money. I'll give it straight to the family, but not a dime of mine will go to any bar that turns in tapes against the police.

I just heard it's because liquor is being served and the department won't sign off on parties including liquor. Are we not all adults?

The comment was made that this could be a real problem for all pending Christmas/retirement party flyers. GIVE ME A BREAK. They serve grown-up drinks at grown-ups' parties.

P.S. I don't know anything about them turning over tapes, or not, but the money isn't going to Barleycorn's. It's going to the family. The FAMILY. Don't boycott the party over a non-issue.

Please do not let up about the lack of police officers and police officer safety.
The little guy on the 5th floor is only concerned about how much more money he,his son and the rest of his blood family(nieces and nephews)can skim and amass.
Observation from a a visitor who stayed in Chicago over the summer "Why are there so many shootings and killings in the City, especially on the South Side?
Weis will be gone by January.
"Short Pants" Tommy will be an interim until the little guy on the 5th floor can find and hire another puppet.

There are posters in many districts, unofficially. Fuck the department, it is IAD that approves or not posters like that. If an officers retires under a cloud, open CR etc, IAD will not allow that officer's name to appear on an approved retirement poster. You know, the department is all honest, legit and above board.

Now don't mention the former commanders in prison now or who have been in prison or the Chief of Detectives hooked up with an outfit jewelry theft ring.

All of IAD and every Inspector failed to find even a trace of that corruption. They were too busy finding officers who made it to you tube or writing up officers for taking too long at lunch.

And please, make no mention of that thief, liar and outfit connected mayor of ours.

But a poster for a killed-in-the-line-of-duty officer? At a bar that feeds and waters it's share of bosses, hell no, no official poster there.

What a stinking pile of hypocritical horseshit!

To all those who do go to this event, a deep and sincere thank you.

To the stuttering prick and the phony cock suckers who work in IAD or as an Inspector: Fuck You.

I'm tired of this departments stance against alcohol!

A legal product sold in all states and cities! It is good for everyone else but us!

But, yet you are made to feel like a jagoff if there is booze at the events by this fucking nerd J-Fed!

He totally fucked up the memorial ride just with his presence! Hey, "asshole" stay home if you don't like our culture!

Sorry, from a previous post:

Is it true Ron Huberman is going in front of the Pension Board, Monday, 29 Sep 08, to request CPD pension credits for the time he is working for the CTA?
He says working for the CTA is part of Homeland Security.
If this is true the pension board trustee’s should be flooded with calls on Monday before the meeting.
This is absolutely outrageous.
--------------------------

ATTENTION ! ! ! !

PAY ATTENTION to how the current board members on the Pension Board vote on this ASSHOLE ! ! !

They are up for re-election.
Banish them to hell if they in fact vote in behalf of this Huberman scumbag!!

Jeez, ask Frank Radke if he ever had a problem at an event that served alcohol. Or maybe ask Terry Hillard, who had to go to that suburban police department to get Frank Radke out of the slammer and keep him from getting a very public and embarrassing DUI.

If the bosses had to pay for all the alcohol they have consumed at watering holes like Barleycorns for free they all would still have healthy livers.

Don't just blame IAD for this kind of shit. I have personally witnessed Sgt R.G. from Personnel put a stop to retiring coppers party posters and have seen him hold back their retirement stars and ID's because he felt that they had left under a "cloud" I bet exempts like Acosta got their retirement stars and IDs just wonder if he had to give it back before he went to the joint?

That's where the bar owners and the City met today to iron out the no beers after 7 innings issue. It is now no beers for 1hr after the
7th inning. Loved that the stuttering prick's threat to vote them dry was shown to be false bravado.

The paperwork for the posters and the tickets was sent to Graphic Arts and then to the print shop and then to Special Activities in August and they sat on it until
5 days before the benefit to tell the 019th District they would not approve the posters. When asked why, 019 was told it was a problem building. When asked if they could get the order on this they were told there was no order, but it had been in effect for 8 months. Then they were told of more establisments that were also problem buildings. When asked if they could have the list of approved establishments they were told there was no list. When asked
who was in charge of this they were put on hold until they were disconnected. They never mentioned IAD. It seems that the inmates are running the asylum. If you were paranoid, you would get the feeling that someone didn't want the benefit to happen. The people behind this should be ashamed of themselves. They are a disgrace. They could of told the 019
district back in August but they didn't. I believe in Karma and what goes round comes round.
