Police Shooting
- Chicago police officers shot a man tonight after a confrontation on the South Side, police said.
After a police well-being check in the 7700 block of South Kedzie Avenue, an armed person confronted officers about 7:15 p.m. and was shot, police said.
The condition of the person was unknown. No one else was injured.
Police said a weapon was recovered from the scene.
Cops OK. Be careful out there.

this is becoming an almost once or twice a week occurence. has the new police review board even ruled on any shootings that they are investigating ???. thankfully no officers were injured-- be safe out there.
I locked a guy up at 1am the other night for two class A's. He goes to lockup around 130. He was I-Bonded by 340AM. Why aren't we holding these people for ANY amount of time? Un-fucking-believable. ... . city can't afford the bologna?
O.T. I saw a high resolution video of a fatal accident involving a pedestrian. The video was taken by a red light camera. They RECORD VIDEO CONTINUOUSLY! Not just when someone blows a red. You can see far past the intersection as well. Unknown how long they keep the files. Be very careful on stops out there. We are turning into London with these cameras.
There is a benefit for a murdered sheepdog named Rick Francis, it's at Barleycorns on Clark. Funny part is the department did not approve the announcement posters. Said it's a "problem business." Well what about the other places on Clark...NO they said, when a licensed liquor establishment plays by the rules, they still get fisted by the little tinker. Did you know that the caps office was informed of this unofficial policy when they asked where the posters were, since they did not see them posted a week before the event?

What you say about SP all may be true. But your missing the point about Lt. J.G. First of all, he conspired behing Tommy's back to get his job when Tommy wasn't there. That in itself makes him a POS. Then, when he finally does get the job, he goes to one of the open meetings with new sup and throws SP to the wolves in order to ingratiate himself with Weis. And after he made his comments, he then made sure that Weis knew who he was, only to make himself look good. At the expense of SP. But don't take just my word for it. Ask anybody else that was there. You will find that they echo my comments. Now keep in mind that SP has not been convicted of anything, only indicted. Indicted in a system in which an ASA once said that he could indict a ham sandwich. He may be as guilty as sin. I don't know. But that's not the point of my post.So the moral of the story is that if I worked tac in 025, I'd be very,very careful around this guy. You could end up being the next guy he throws under the bus to further advance his career. And for the record, no, I'm not Tommy. I don't even like him. But what I do like are bosses that standup for their guys. At least until proven guilty. Not bosses that are more than willing to eat their own!

The steroids and testosterone they were giving you before you got shipped out of SOS must really be affecting your brain. I know you guys have huge egos and all, but I never knew you singlehandedly kept the violent crime down one the WHOLE southside. Wow I'm really impressed now.... asswipe!!!
It seems to me that if most of officers will refuse to work 10-99(at least for a couple of periods) during 3rd and 1st watch and if officers call for backup when appropriate and handle all calls "by the book" and because they are to busy answering radio to write tickets, curfews, etc, the system will slowly grind to a halt.
Perhaps the media will be forced to talk about problem,

The officers responded to a check the well being and were talking to the offender's roomate when the offender exoted a gangway and started chasing the roomate with a knife the officers ordered the offender to drop the knife. The roomate stumbled to the ground and the offender was about to stab him when the officer opened fire killing the bad guy. Fantastic job by two young officers.

This has to stop. The Mayor and the Superintendent have to make a decision to put more police on the street and let us take the city back. This is happening because the powers that be have taken our powers to do what is needed. They want a warm and fuzzy no balls police department. Now that they have it, the vermon aren't afraid of us anymore. They know we all are handcuffed to do our job and the department has a leash on all of us. As long as Daley is in power, we will all be targets unless they give us the power to take back the streets. Fear and respect is what makes the police department effective. They scumbags know we can't do our job because of the Mayor bowing down to the reverends. We are no longer feared. The sad part is the citizens don't respect us because the Mayor and Superintendent don't even respect us or back us. When I came on you did what you had to and the bosses, from the sergeant to the commanders and deputies made sure you were covered for doing your job. They backed you 100 percent. Mayor how about growing some testicles and giving the power back to the police along with some more bodies on the street. Until then there is going to be much more violence, not just against the citizens, but especially towards the police. 20 years ago, this trend never took place. Yes there were police killed, but now they don't even second guess shooting at us. And the Superintendent wants us to be more proactive. You want proactive, hire more police, get the dead weight back on the street, give us a fair and equitable contract and start giving us the power to do our job. Then back us up instead of letting us hang out to dry.

So many districts, so few POLICE.
Again...what can you say at a time like this ? Hope and pray for the best. Having participated in serving numerous search warrants, they are one of the more dangerous activities that an officer can do. You are walking into someone else's domain and can never be completely prepared for everything that could happen. They can be fun and interesting, but, also very dangerous. If these officers did absolutely everything correctly, there is still always the unknown factor of going through a door while not knowing exactly what is on the other side. No monday morning quarterbacking here, the fact remains that we work in a very dangerous line of work, and even the best planned activity can go awry if the badguys have a deathwish and don't go with the program. We work for a mayor that doesn't care about us and still we try to go out and do the right thing. Pray for these officers' recovery and remember, even though these guys were participating in a dangerous duty, the most dangerous thing an officer does is to get in his car after rollcall and roll out into the great unknown, that being this rapidly declining city.

I'll agree with you about BH being one of the biggest backstabbers in the CPD. But I'll go you one further by saying that not only is BH one of the biggest back stabbers in the CPD, BH is also one of the most evil members of the CPD. Notice I didn't say officer because officer is the last term a real officer would use to describe that poser. But it ain't me and I ain't TC either. I'm just a guy that believes in right and wrong. Hey genius. Assuming you work the total 480 minutes of an 8 hour day, your 35 jobs would average a mere 13.71 minutes of service rendered.
So; let's take away 30 minutes for roll call and finding your car and the 60 minutes for lunch and 2 personals.
That leaves 390 minutes to answer your 35 jobs That means you are giving the citizens only 11.14 minutes of service. Shame on you bullshitter.(exagerator)
May I make a suggestion?
Give each and every one of your calls your absolute undivided attention. Handle the request for service as if your were answering a call for your mom or dad.
Better to do ONE great job then a lot of 1/2 ass ones.

doesn't really solve the problem of the politicians being unwilling to lock away the bad guys and losing the key.
as long as there is no desire on the part of the politicians to lock up a big part of their base of support, nothing street cops do is going to make much difference.
you can fight a losing battle for a while, but in the end you will have detroit or DC until the political climate changes. and the chance of that happening is slim.
if for whatever reason daley does not run for reelection, chances are the guy that takes over will be far worse.

During the 3 years I was held accountable for answering calls numbnuts it was working midnights on the busiest and biggest beat(many times working 99)in 004. I would surely put my stats up against yours any day of the week

The only way to know is to ask J.G. , the commander or the captain who dumped t.c.
j.g. may be a ambitious, but he is no back stabber. you're giving him too much credit to think he could sway a new commander to dump someone and put him in as a replacement.
I was at the meeting with the supt and in now way did J.G. "throw s.p. under the bus". No doubt he was vocal at the meeting, maybe to get noticed or maybe because he just had questions. But he said nothing negative about s.p. that indicated he was guilty.
A.Z. from 11 was the most vocal at that meeting. Even M.P. from 1st watch had a few things to say.
But since you seem to be in the know, be specific about what was said that was so bad.
