So there are something like three more steps to go?

Semifinals, Finals and World Series?

And guess who's come out as a Cubs fan and authorized this limited edition bobblehead collectible?

Don't know if event the Great Chalkie can figure out how to kill someone with a basketball, though.

Nice to seem them clinch the Division but you would have thought they won the World Series the way they celebrated it.

Leaving the park we almost got run over by the mounted patrol followed by Chicago's finest with a wagon bringing up the rear.

We thought it was 1968 all over again.

I thought it was kind of silly because as soon as the squad of police moved up the street, the street filled up behind them.

Rumor has it Chalkie was in the parking lot at WGN channel 9 waiting for Tom Skilling. He expressed his displeasure with the lack of 90 degree days this summer. Police were dispatched to the scene, Mr. Skilling refused a report. I have a feeling Winter will be postponed this year.

OT.

Any upstanding citizen has a last name. So let's have a vote.

I vote that Chalkie is an upstanding Japanese-American, however, he does lay down on ocassion, as needed, and his name is Chalkie Sayonara.

His middle name is Bye-Bye, so his formal full name is Chalkie B. Sayonara. That makes his initials CBS, also his favorite foods. BTW, his best friends are Hari Kari, Sepuku Wakizashi and the twins, Iam & Ure Gone!

1. 30 years ago you could have picked it up for under 6 figures.

2. Is that 'worth much more now' with or without the yuppie piss stains?

Fact: City Hall is very concerned over possible disturbances with crowds at the Cubs or Sox playoffs.

Fact: City Hall is terrified over possible Obama riots.

Fact: J-Fed had planned to bring in another "FBI expert" to make the departments plan.

Fact: City Hall gave overall responsibility of the cities (and police) plans to OEMC.

Fact; City Hall has so little confidence in the Police Department that they put a Fireman - Ray Orozco - in charge.

Fact: Orozco has brought in retired CPD people to create the departmnets plan.

Question: What other responsibilities has City Hall taken from the Police Dept.

I have a question: If both the Sox and Cubs get into the playoffs how much more money does the city get? You known? Hotel tax, airline tax, entertainment tax, not to mention alcohol tax? Here is our big chance complete BLUE FLU during the playoffs.
Unless we get what WE want.

You know one world series win does not make you the best team in baseball. I was happy when the Sox won, even though I am a bigger fan of the Cubs. You are from Chicago right? Be proud of all your sports teams. (well maybe NOT the Bears) I seriously hope the Cubs go to the World Series and win. As a fan I would love to see it and I would love for the Sox fans to STFU already.

Sure, I'd love to pay three times more for a comparable home that couldn't be sold of need be.

I'd love to have neighbors that speak foreign languages.

I'd love to have out of control property taxes.

I'd love to have nowhere to park.

I'd love to have all the new Section 8 neighbors living in all the nearby apartments.

I'd love to have Rambo and the Dwarf as my protectors.

I'd love the chance to see Ronnie Woo-Woo every day.

Hey all....

Let me start off by saying that I am not a LEO. Just a big fan of this blog....I am a Wrigleyville resident of 13 years. After the cubs win and clinch on saturday, I threw my 3YO boy on my shoulders and we went walking around the park just to experience the action

I was standing on the corner of clark and waveland, because my son was interested in the "horsies" There were at least a dozen of so officers on mount. I was standing kind of far back, when one of the officers notcied the interest my little guy was taking, and yelled over to me an invite to bring him over. I eagerly accepted and my son was overjoyed. The Officer interacted with my son, it made his day and he's still talking about it this morning.

Continuing on for the next hour and a half, and many circuits around the park, I made notice of the professionalism, courtesy and "cubbie spirit" of the various officers on duty that day. I saw many great acts and "litte things" that went beyond just "duty"

thanks men and women of CPD

To the non-LEO whose son likes horse:1.  Thanks.  It is nice to hear things like this AND it is rare that someone takes the time to let us know.  WE appreciate it.  (and I am not in the mounted unit nor was I there)2.  Take the note you wrote, put it in a word document, and send it to 3510 S. Michigan, Attn:  Supt.  If you do not know who you spoke with by name, put it for the entire Unit. THEY will get a little atta boy in the form of your letter, it will go in their file, and most importantly, ensure that they individually receive the praise you gave them.

3. Again, thanks for thanking us. People like yourself is what makes (speaking for most of us I think) us still find value and reason in our chaotic daily tasks of serving and protecting.

The Ceriale Foundation is having a big bucks fundraiser on one of the rooftops ("Wrigley Done Right") outside Wrigley Field on Oct. 1. $600 is more than this officer can afford, but thought I'd pass along the invitation in case anyone has a relative who would like to treat them or any civilians who read the blog might want to support the cause. The funds raised will be used to rehab the baseball fields at Smith Park in 013 where Mike was first assigned and grew up. I understand the members of the Ceriale family will be attending as the guests of management.

Watch the Cubs win Game 1 while raising $$ for The Officer Michael A. Ceriale Memorial Foundation

Join us on Oct. 1 for the Cubs first 2008 playoff game at Wrigley Done Right, the closest rooftop to home plate. At this double-wide, 5,000 square foot rooftop you will enjoy:
