He got the Martha Stewart charges of lying to the feds. Proves that the feds never had a case for civil rights violations. All they can prove is that he lied to the feds after saying one thing in 2003and another several years later.

I don't agree with the "old days" shortcut methods, I believe that we as coppers should treat those we come in contact with respectfully and reasonably until we have a reason not to, and we need to be careful not to let ourselves tarnish one person because someone we dealt with earlier was a scumbag, would not help, etc. That said, do we really need to go back mega-years to try to prosecute some weak charges that are not even germane to the original issue. I'm a cop just like most everyone else here that reads the blog.But I was trained to uphold the law.And most important.If during your arrest,if the offender wants to fight you and defeat the arrest prior to putting on the cuffs.Then it's a fight for survival,period ! But Cozzi wasn't in a fight for survival, he put cuffs on a drunk, asshole that was in a wheel chair and proceeded to whoop the guys ass. Hmmph. Torture of prisoners in Area 2 and Area 3? Damn, I worked in both detective areas, about that time, but didn’t hear a thing. Those of us in General Assignments were only one floor away, so you’d think we’d at least hear some screaming. Take a look at the indictment. A question was asked of Burge through a written iterogatory(if you've been involved in civil suits you know what this is). The question was basically have you tortuterd anyone at area two and do you know of anyone torturing a citizen at area two. Burge answered "No". That's it folks! That's why they locked him up today. The G has said that since the special prosecuters determined that there was some abuse going on at area two, Burge was lying in the written answers he provided, through his lawyer, in the interrogatories. Not ONE of these people are, were,or are going to be good respectable people in their life time; whether they were tortured by Burge or not.

Idiot Cmdrs. stealing and going to prison and scandals everywhere. I've been on the job a long time and have worked in SHIT. The Supt. is trying to right the sinking ship and I find no fault of his if it takes time. And to all the young POLICE who take offense to him wearing the uniform, he knows more about law enforcement than you'll ever know. Also personal attacks on peoples' looks,personalities or spouses-children should be kept to yourselfs. None of us are perfect. I have met the Supt's wife on several occassions and I'll tell you she is a FIRST CLASS ACT. She's the nicest person I've come across in a long time(and easy on the eyes fellas but she's married). Let's do the job and forget the B.S. bickering. Jesus, we're CHICAGO POLICE OFFICERS!

Leave his wife off the blog. What has J-FED done for officers on the street? Administrative blows off duty while walking? Watch commander at every traffic crash? Inspectors hammering officers? Cozzi indictment? 200 POW's at call back for years? His alledge open meetings where officers are free to talk and then punished? Promoting incompetent exempts? Now two civilians run the department.
