Yeah, that's about right. Roughly only 40% bothered to fill in a dot and put the self-adressed and postage paid envelope into a mailbox.

Now let's see how we get all of our families out to the polls in November.

Don't vote, DON'T BITCH!

Mike Shields congrats and your brother Danny too. You really shook it up. Never in the history of the FOP has the candidate for trustee that was backed by the FOP ever lost. Today was historical. What is Steve Robbins going to do with all those extra pens? Perhaps donate them to the CPFCU

Shields had a good victory with Ron Huberman withdrawing his request for a pension last friday. That wouldn't have happened if he never got involved.
If he can keep the buzz going, he'll do well. Let's keep an eye on the other elected trustees and see how they're voting. I think this is a good win.

The Pension Trustees are not being altruistic, they are in it for the free trips to attend "conferences"

Why are these "conferences" in such exotic locales? They should be in places like Tulsa, Omaha, Butte, Boise, etc. so the attendees could actually pay attention and pay less for accomidations.

Less than 1/2 of the eligible voters bothered to take two minutes and send in the ballot, WTF is with that? These are the same types who don't vote in the FOP elections and then bitch about Donahue and the others. You probably don't vote in any elections and then complain about who's in government.

Speaking of 10 hour days, why haven't the FOP top honchos come to the districts involved to explain.

Our contract states we get OT after working 8 hours, why do they get to alter the contract without the permission of the members involved?

The people who make these decisions are nowhere near working 10 X 5 hour shifts a week (which will be the norm)

There is a simple way to get five 8 hour shifts a week for everyone--straight days off. Sure it will suck for a newbie, but then again their seniority will rise, especially when the senior officers start to retire.

You idiots voted out the guy that stood up to Huberman and re-elected the the guys that stood behind him. It was easy for Sheilds to beef when he was a nobody. Now he's got a chip in the game and you're paying for it. Your 5 lazy minutes in 011 don't make you the police Mikey. You've been a cake eater (and proud of it) for a long time. This is the problem with any attempt to try a new schedule. 5-2 only will work for you because you have the time. Why don't YOU try working 20 years without a weekend off. That is what will happen. Ever try to get that 13B furlough?

I would rather make you work 10 hour days than to get stuck with 20 years of Wednesday-Thursday. Change or retire.

Its you people who are slowing down this change. I can't work this schedule. I can't work that schedule. Oh I need 3 day weekends. Oh I can't work 10 hour days. Oh I like this schedule we are working now.

Bitch Bitch Bitch. You want to get rid of this schedule as long as you get whatever day you want.

Seniority does not come quite as quickly as you say it does especially with the lack of new hires. I still can't work that airport. I haven't been able to get it in 8 years of the program. You think I will get a good day off group in a reasonable amount of time? Retire already while you still have a pension plan.

Obviously good timing by shields drawing attention to this election. Otherwise i wouldnt have known anyone on the ballot and probably 70% of other coppers dont either. What are guys supposed to do? Part of the problem is that all of the ballots were not sent out at the same time. I received mine this past MONDAY! After reading the deadline was a mere 3 days later, I drove it to the post office that night. Just goes to show you that the Pension Board is not above board. I am sure I wasn't the only one sent a very late ballot that would virtually assure that vote would not arrive in time.

Hello SCC,

How about a thread on the new work scheds.

Why is it at contract time, all we get is pilot programs. We have tried them all before over the last ten years.

We want an end to the 6 day work week now! We want in this contract! The City says lets give them a pilot program, that will shut them up. After all it worked in the past.

The FOP says yes, we get yet anonther pilot, the contract will get settled and we go back to the 6work days.

Fuck another pilot, lets vote on one and get it this contract.

We have been doing this for ten years. The City and FOP will keep us doing pilots for another 10 years!

Oh I get it just fine. You are the guys whining about the pilot programs, not the new guys. You are the bitches, not the "pussy police."

The new guys are at least willing to try them out. You probably bitched with straight watches too.

Senority is fair to all, however, when we deal with things such as days off, most of the department wants rotating days.

16 years of rotating, afternoons for 4 and then days after 20?

Why don't you retire already while you get the chance to collect a pension? We have been on straight watches for at least 15 years. Its time for you to go.

Change bothers you too much. You are holding up the new schedules just like you held up the straight watches because no doubt you bitched about it when it came into being.

That worked out. A new schedule will too.

=======================================
YES there will retro checks you mush. And NO we do not want arbitration if we can help it. After pay the number one issue for members is health care. Lowering the age for health care to fifty-five is not something that an arbitrator would even rule on because it is what is called a break thru issue. It saves the city money and gets older officers to retire earlier. The city is afraid that an arbitrator would allow us to sell back 200 hours since Sgt., Lt., and Capt., already have it.

So all O.T. this cycle mark the money box and stick it to Daley.

What do you know? The only person who voted against the Invesco deal (daley's nephew) was Sgt. Lazarro-not because it was Daley's nephew but because he thought it was too risky. Then at the last segreant's meeting- that goofy Voight stood up and grandstanded over a retiree's column that promoted the retiree's personal opinion that was printed in the Sgt's newletter-he felt that the newletter wasn't giving him equal time when it was a small part of a personal endorsement of an individual. Sorry Mr. Viagra, but reading your post you were crying how the only fair schedule is 5-2 with fixed days off by seniority. I know you are having many a senior moment and forget things sometimes; however, you complained about the schedules not me.

I never said seniority should not count, but I will say it should definitely NOT count if its going to be used for a permanent day off group.

You definitely are one of the dummies holding this up. You are all over the place and can't even see it.

p.s. Taking Viagra without a prescription is against the law and department policy. Lil' Man.

I remember attending an in service training program last year. Mike Shields was there also. All he did was bad mouth the old time coppers, particularly two former SOS guys that have forgotten more about Police work than Mike Shields will ever know. Now he's going to sit on the pension board. How ironic. I hope he's grown up a little since then.

THAT'S A REAL FUTILE ATTEMPT TO BADMOUTH SHIELDS TO THE "OLDTIMERS" AND "SOS" GUYS. I CALL YOUR BLUFF.

I KNOW SHIELDS WELL AND HIS PARTNER IS AN SOS GUY. IF HE WAS IN ANY TRAINING, IT WOULD'VE BEEN WITH HIS SOS PARTNER. I CALL B.S. ON THIS ONE. GO CRY SOMEWHERE ELSE YOU LOSER. HIDE BEHIND YOUR COMPUTER YOU SISSY

I was at the training and Mike was put in a mock jury stand situation and was asked how he would answer a certain senerio, shit all over himself. But in his defence I thought what he did to Huberman took Balls and he might have grown up since that day. I wish him great luck and remember to watch your back and stand up for the little guys.
