- MILWAUKEE - MillerCoors LLC says goodbye to Zima.
The joint venture between SABMiller's U.S. unit and Molson Coors Brewing Co. told distributors in a letter Monday that production of the malt liquor beverage was discontinued as of Oct. 10.
Chief Marketing Officer Andy England says the decision was due to weakness in the "malternative" segment and declining consumer interest.
Actually, we thought they stopped brewing this stuff years ago. Who knew?

I tried a Zima when it first came out.
Needless to say I never bought it.
Back in my younger and wilder days, I worked at a north side bar whose owner offered for sale Miller Lite and Genuine Draft, but no Budweiser. The bartenders at the joint next door enjoyed Miller products but their owner served Bud. So they worked out a deal with a couple of us waitresses -- they'd trade us a few Zimas for some Miller brews. Zima got me through a few long nights dealing with obnoxious sports fans. It was a light and dry-tasting alternative to the alcohol I'd grown weary of (and I drank it all). Those were the days. Cheers.
Zima? I haven't tried one in over 10 years. It was pretty shitty back then.
How about some sort of new brew for those of us with Celiac Disease? The only one that comes close to a good brew is from Anheiser Busch (sp?)called Redbridge. No Wheat or Barley. No terrible stomach aches.

I needed a Zima after listening to talk radio last night. They played the following audio clips--

Zima? Good riddance. I've never seen it for sale at Sox Park, but then I only go to the Beers of the World stand for Becks, Heineken, or Pilsner Urquell. (Wish they had Goose Island.)

There is a copper in 010 (I won't name names) who only drinks Zima because he says you can't smell it on your breath. Uh-Oh I guess he'll have to turn to Vodka.
