And Another Shooting

Down south. And once again, the police go home safe while the OFFENDER goes to the hospital:
  • A Chicago police officer shot an armed offender while executing a search warrant tonight on the South Side.

At about 7:04 p.m., officers from the Narcotics Section approached a residence in the 7300 block of South Kingston Avenue when a person confronted the officers with a gun, according to a statement issued by the police department.

An officer fired his weapon and the suspect was struck, the police statement said.
Good job officer.

I am not a police officer. But God bless this officer and his family. My grandfather was a p.o. killed in the line of duty many years ago and the hearts of his family and grandchildren still ache.

Wish it was possible to kill these offenders instead of waste'n hospital resources on these urban terrorist a.k.a. altar boys or aspiring hip-hop artists.

The Great Societal Experiment know as the Chicago Machine will not and cannot admit that its GUN laws are a total failure.

I'm glad all are safe but aren't all search warrants supposed to be run past SWAT now per G.O.? Especailly if the warrant includes info regarding guns. i'm not sayin it did, I'm just askin.

And the reporter called the suspect a SUSPECT.

Expect the Revs to take a break from praying with Blowjobovic to picket this guy for that.

(And don't threaten the police with weapons, and you probably won't get shot. Dee dee dee.)

Hey 1:08am,you are a complete and total asshole! First off, I dont know where the General Order is that says every Search Warrant must be previewed by SWAT, I'm from MIssouri so "Show Me." Second off, lets pretend there is an Order that says that (NOT), how the fuck would you know if they did or didnt run it by them.
Now,power your computer down, throw out your empties, go upstairs and give Ma a kiss goodnight, put out some food for all the cats, come back down to the basement and go to sleep.ASSHAT!

I saw an interesting comment by one poster. SWAT on all search warrants? I don't know if thats true but, Area 2 Narcotics has a search warrant team. That is all this team does. The team does at least 1 search warrant a day. SWAT doesn't have enough officers to go on all search warrants. Narcotics do search warrants non stop. Thats not including Gun teams, Tact/Gang Teams, and Gang Intel. The order probably only says if guns are known to be in the house or officers have actually seen one. Thats just my guess.

Should SWAT have to be on search warrants, the inspectors could have a field day. I've been on at least 20 SWs this year. We haven't had SWAT with us once.

Go ahead and do that after you're done with the TRR for applying handcuffs/downloading your in-car-camera/checking your webmail exchange inbox/wearing collars and slacks to a warrant/inventorying alcohol samples and hand carrying them to earps. . . . . then maybe you'll be able to leave at half past the hour retard.

You and whomever wrote the G.O. live in a fairy tale makebelieve world. It's impossible to have SWAT on every search warrant let alone every search warrant with a gun. If you do search warrants you know exactly what I'm talking about.

We do just fine without SWAT. I've done over 400 SW's in my career and I've never had High Entry / Swat on any of them. If and when the need for them arises, then I'll give them a call (word that target in SW has a chopper and will kill the police / gernades in house / pipe bombs in house/ etc).

so what, officer goes home ok to his family, gets some awards and will make good court money for him and his family during his lawsuit. officer, good job with the shoot and dont sweat the small sh*t... all that matters is you and your team is home safe for the holiday by doing what is right. if the city wants to pay, let them pay, that in no way effects you or us as police officers....let the m'fers sue...

Once again the bad guy loses...
I was very much in doubt that you guys could hit anything with those double action only pistols..
Then a PO friend of mine let me try out two of his, (S&W) and they made a believer out of me. I think the Sig with the DAK version of the DAO is the best money can buy. The pull is light and sweet. Oh, and my friend the PO has switched to the Glock.

Another great outcome. Officer goes home fine and bad guy leaves with more holes than he was originally there with.

To bad the SWAT team will never come out when you need them in a time sensitive matter. Takes them 8hrs to get ready for an SW. If you need it on mids 4 get it cuz they ain't coming either, but if you know 3 days in advance you can secure them.

When you want to move on a warrant that's time sensitive don't even thnk about the SWAT team. They are under manned, and overworked. Not to mention half the guys won't come unless ther are already at work on the clock.

Don't second guess the officers on this one sir, homework is always done on this stuff out of 189. Intell gathered was indicative of a non swat entry...the squad did an excellent, professional job before, during, and after...and they were obviously prepared and responded as professionals.

Back each other up..........Don't blame SWAT for being there or not being there. They are over worked and put themselves out there for the good of everyone......Those guys are here to help, serve and protect EVERYONE including themselves. And being from that unit for a long time, there are politics within that unit that come into play, that not many are aware of...............We are all BLUE, no matter if they wear a patch that says SWAT, or a regular beat car............Remember we are all blue and all are there for each other........ Love your brother's and sister's. Because that is all we have out there............ US.......... Stop stomping on other units that are thought of as elite....... Because we aren't elite, some are just better trained then others......

I would be happy to see the boys of SWAT backing us up......... A WELCOME sight........ Nothing more nothing less.........

We are so glad to see that this shooting turned out to be the best for the officers, and not so good for the OFFENDERS............. God Bless our CPD and all those that serve, no matter in what capacity.

I don't care to go on any more search warrants. Getting close to that magic retirement date. Short timer, you know.

Best of luck to those who still do that stuff, be careful and if in doubt shoot first.

Still remember an incident this past summer where dude was holed up in his house after girlfriend was pistol whipped and ran out the back leaving her kid inside with dude. Had the place surrounded, block was blocked off, neighbors houses evacuated, LT took on the roll of negotiator, fire was on standby down the street. Numerous request were sent through the zone for SWAT. Dude kept coming to the front window saying he ain't going down, he ain't going to jail. Everyone had their pistols pointed at him and the building as we waited for SWAT and listened to whole block bitch about how we "ain't be necessary to do all that, we know he ain't done nothing" blah blah blah. We were given a citywidezone for the incident. After an hour dude gives up to the LT. House searched, nothing found. As we start to leave and take the tape down from around the block, switching back to the zone the radio cracks with some SWAT SGT with a chicken bone in his mouth saying, "Squad, you calling us for something? Whats up?" Unbelievable.
