Rahm Cleared!

  • A report issued by Barack Obama's transition concluded that the president-elect had no contact with Gov. Rod Blagojevich or his office and no one acting on Obama's behalf was involved in any "quid pro quo" arrangement the governor allegedly sought for filling the vacant Senate seat with a candidate of Obama's choosing.
Yup, a report issued by the very people being investigated sure puts our minds at ease. A few questions though:
  • Why do we have to go to The Smoking Gun website to read that Obama himself was interviewed by the feds?
  • Why are there no transcripts included so we can all read what the lawyers have cleared the transition team of?
  • How did one meeting that Rahm had with the governor suddenly become four and no one in the media seems to notice?
We sense a great untruthfulness about this entire incident...it's almost Clinton-esque. And the media continues its willful blindness.

I heard a funny one on the radio tonight.

If Obama was caught throwing old ladies off of the pier in Hawaii, the press would simply report that he was helping them to swim.

Sorry you had to traipse all the way to "The Smoking Gun" website, SCC. The fact that Obama himself was interviewed by the Feds was mentioned on one of the local news broadcasts earlier today. As I am recovering from the flu and feeling rather woozy, I can't for the life of me remember which station or if it was morning or early evening.

You know exactly what it's all about. The media looked the other way throughout the election and paved the way for Obamna to get elected. They're not going to hang themselves out to dry and admit they sold us a bill of goods. They love this guy and he can do no wrong in their eyes.

SCC, its all bullshit.
Obama and Emmanuel were probably going to deal early on to get Jarrett appointed. Fitzgerald realized the implications of this with the wire in place and someone tipped Obama, hence Jarret's withdrawal. Fitz pulled the trigger on Blago to save Obama any further embarrassment. How did Blago know all they were offering was "good feelings"?
The last thing Fitz wants is to accidentally bring down the first 1/2 black president. Imagine being blamed for epic rioting at a time like this. It could be the final straw to break the country.

Harris will end up with immunity to squeal on Blago and thats it. They won't be asking Harris about his activities at O'Hare or City Hall, that fix has been in since July, 2006.

Blago takes pipe, Fitz moves on to bigger and better things, Illinoise rolls on......

I don't get it. Channel 7 reported that Obama had been interviewed by the Feds about it. They also said he had listened to one tape, provided by the feds. No need to go to Smoking Gun.

Not that I'm a fan of Rahm. Notice we still haven't seen or heard from him. Just because he was cleared in this part of it doesn't mean he's out of the woods in other areas of the investigation, unrelated to the sale/trade/barter of Obama's seat.

They ( the G) cut the investigation short because of who was coming up on the phone. The G never just takes a wire down and arrests someone on an information report. To stop a crime? BS - I have seen them let tons of dope go just to jump phones.
On a wire, you have to physically protect the people. If someone was going to be shot or robbed at gunpoint, you have to intervene. But white collar crime, give me a break.

i'd love for them to sate my curiosity as well, but, is the investigation on going? am i wrong in thinking cpd doesn't release to the public everything about a case while the investigation is ongoing? didn't blago say all he was offered was gratitude so fuck him? i'm not sipping obama-aid but he's not stupid enough to get involed with a pay to play with blago. according to the wall street journal's capital bureau....

Conventional wisdom holds that U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald ordered the FBI to arrest Rod Blagojevich before sunrise Tuesday in order to stop a crime from being committed. That would have been the sale of the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama.

But the opposite is true: Members of Fitzgerald’s team are livid the scheme didn’t advance, at least for a little longer, according to some people close to Fitzgerald’s office. Why? Because had the plot unfolded, they might have had an opportunity most feds can only dream of: A chance to catch the sale of a Senate seat on tape, including the sellers and the buyers.

The precise timing of Tuesday’s dramatic, pre-dawn arrest was not dictated by Fitzgerald, nor was it dictated by the pace of Blagojevich’s alleged “crime spree.” It was dictated by the Chicago Tribune, according to people close to the investigation and a careful reading of the FBI’s affidavit in the case.

(full story here..http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/12/14/the-real-story-behind-the-rushed-blagojevich-bust-how-the-feds-are-frustrated-by-losing-maybe-half-of-their-case/)

Leaked conversation between Blago and Emanuel (explicit)

RAHM EMANUEL: This is Rahm.

ROD BLAGOJEVICH: Hey Rahm, yeah it's Rod.

EMANUEL: Uh-huh. What's going on governor, I'm busy.

BLAGO: Well, it's about that Senate appointment...

EMANUEL: We already gave you the list of people we like.

BLAGO: Yeah, I been looking the list over. Interesting names. Good people. How's the transition going?

EMANUEL: It's going fine, governor. Are you calling to fucking tell me anything, or what, cause I--

BLAGO: No no, I'm just wondering if you have all your picks already made. I heard something about Dashle for HHS--

EMANUEL: I'm not gonna discuss ongoing deliberations, gov, you know that.

BLAGO: Hey, come on Rahm, let's not act like I'm a stranger here.

EMANUEL: Did I call you a stranger? If I thought you were a stranger, you think I'd be interrupting my important fucking business to take this fucking phone call?

BLAGO: Hey you don't have to get curt with me, Rahm.

EMANUEL: This isn't me being curt, Gov, this is me being fucking busy. Now what did you call about?

BLAGO: I'm just feeling you out, seeing if Valerie [Jarret] still wants that Senate seat, just wondering what kind of priority that is for the President-Elect.

EMANUEL: Actually, it's not a priority. Valerie's had second thoughts about the job.

BLAGO: What, she doesn't want it anymore?

EMANUEL: She's having second thoughts. You want more details, you ask her.

BLAGO: She won't take my calls.

EMANUEL: Big fucking surprise.

BLAGO: What's that supposed to mean?

EMANUEL: Um, I don't know, what's it supposed to mean governor? A.) You're a fucking crook. B.) You're a fucking asshole. C.) All of the above.

BLAGO: I'm clean Rahm, you know this. You think that fucking Fitzgerald would being twiddling his fucking thumbs if he had shit to go on?

EMANUEL: I gotta go, Gov. You appoint who you want, we really don't give a shit.

BLAGO: What if I appoint Valerie, what if she takes it?

EMANUEL: What do you want me to say? We'd appreciate it, I'm not gonna fucking kiss your ring over it.

BLAGO: "Appreciate it"? Come on, this is a senate seat we're talking about. It's worth a fuck of a lot more than appreciation.

EMANUEL: You asked us for a list, we gave you a fucking list, you want to make your own list then make your own fucking list. [Raising voice] But if you're asking for anything else from me, or Barack, or Valerie, then you can fucking stop talking right now Rod.

BLAGO: Wait a sec there Rahm. Wait just a fucking minute. Who are you to talk to me like that? I fucking made you.

EMANUEL: You made me? You made me? Tell me you're fucking joking.

BLAGO: No no no, you listen to me shit-face. You see this list I got, the names motherfucking Obama fucking wants for the Senate. I just ripped it in two. How you like that? Oops, Harris just dropped it in the shredder. Harris?

HARRIS (muffled): Yes sir?

BLAGO: Did you just drop that list in the shredder?

[Whirring, shredder noise]

HARRIS (muffled): I did.

EMANUEL: Do you have me on fucking speakerphone?

BLAGO: It's in the shredder, Rahm. The list is bye bye.

EMANUEL: Hold on a sec -- you got me on fucking speakerphone? Who the fuck do you think I am?

BLAGO: Who are you Rahm? Who are you? You're shit, you hear me? Don't come back to Chicago Rahm, it's not your town any more.

EMANUEL: Pick up the phone Rod.

BLAGO: I'll put someone in the senate who will fucking fuck you. I might even put myself in there, how you like that Rahm? How you gonna explain that to fucking Barack, every time he's gotta call me up for my fucking vote. He'd have to take my calls then, wouldn't he?

EMANUEL: [Screaming] I said pick up the FUCKING phone!

BLAGO: [Picks up phone, speakerphone off] I got your attention now, didn't I?

EMANUEL: Shut the fuck up and listen to me for one second Rod. And I want you to listen carefully, because this is the last time I'm ever going to talk to you. You are fucking dead to me. You been fucking dead to Barack since '06, now you're dead to me. Know what that means? That means you're dead to my people in Chicago, Daley on down, and all these friends you think you have aren't gonna touch you with a ten foot fucking pole.

BLAGO: Oh now you're the fucking Godfather? Fuck you.

EMANUEL: No fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you.

BLAGO: Fuck you!

EMANUEL: Listen up asshole. The shit's gonna hit the fan, maybe tomorrow, maybe next month, and when Fitz finally brings down the hammer it's gonna be my name that's going through your head. You won't know the hows or the fucking whys, but it's gonna have my fucking fingerprints all over it. Have a great life fatso.

BLAGO: Hey fuck--

EMANUEL: [Click.]

I think you hit the nail on the head. The FEDS knew this was going to his Obama the Messiah in a negative way. I mean his connections with Rezko was swept under the rug. Who wants to be the whistle-blower revealing MORE scandal before this guy heads into office? Obama is still the media sweethart and can still do no wrong. We are going to have to wait untill he really f@cks-up in office.
So they were tipped in order to save face...Harris will save his own ass from a stretching in federal prison and will tell all. And I believe the above post that he will not reveal any Daly indiscretions because a Daley is on the Obama transitional team. Don't want to hurt 'ol Dickie.

Rahm laid low in Chicago going to his kid's holiday functions and keeping a low profile until the "official" Obama report came out. For all of us in Chicago, we aren't fooled by this continuing Chicago-Cook Co-Illinois democratic charade, but I believe the fools in the rest of the US with the "rose-colored" glasses are.

Speaking of Obama, for a guy who refused to put his hand over his heart during the pledge and refused to wear an american flag lapel pin, now he's the only president since Lincoln who will be sworn in with Lincoln's own bible. And the media reports he's riding the train to DC like Lincoln did. This guy flim-flams like a fart the wind. Watch out America, Chicago politics is rearing it's ugly head across the USA.

To: 12/25/2008 4:51, 5:13 and 10:49 PM.

Are you actually that stupid or naive to make such a completely inane and unfounded comparison?

Police "misconduct" is investigated by either police supervisors or internal affairs rats, both who have a vested interest in punishing the involved officers. It isn't investigated by the accused's partner and some other guy from the watch, you moron.

Osama's "investigation", on the other hand, is done by those with a vested interest in covering up any misconduct found, as should the Osama gravy train end, his staffers would be painted with the same brush, and looking for work.

God, police hating liberals are so pathetic in their closed-mindedness.

I actually bend over backwards to ALWAYS give those I deal with the benefit of the doubt, to treat people fairly, to make sure I err on the side of never charging anyone that didn't commit the crime...but go ahead, swim in your liberal fantasy pool of brutal blue-clad bigots holding secret meetings to plan how to beat and falsely arrest those who differ from them. Just don't ever hold anyone of the liberal persuasion accountable for their actions.

And just for argument, so you are stating here that you don't agree with the police "investigating themselves", do you then agree that Osama's self-query is untrustworthy?

I'll bring the Zinfandel, and you warm up the brie. I'll explain this, slowly if you need.

Cops can and are investigated by IAD, SA's, AG's, Feds and second guessed by the press and a entire industry built around frivolous lawsuits.

Rahm investigated by Rahm. Rahm asked self if he was clean on this. After some pointed questioning Rahm convinced Rahm he was clear of any problems. Rahm is much relieved.

Bingo, indeed. If you see these two as equal, you should dial back the recreational use of inhaling paint thinner.
