Shooting in 010 or 011

  • Chicago police arrested a person who tried to disarm an officer this evening on the West Side, causing the officer's weapon to fire.

No one was hurt during the incident, which happened about 6 p.m. near West 11th and South Mozart Streets.

Ogden District officers initially spotted the offender in a suspicious vehicle in that area, police said. The offender was arrested while trying to elude them, police said, but later tried to disarm one of the officers during a struggle.

Sounds like no one was hit. We aren't sure, but this effort to disarm the police seems to be a worrying trend. Be very careful out there. Every call you go to has a gun on it - yours. And your partner's if you're lucky enough to be riding 10-4 lately. And controlling that weapon means the difference between going home and never going home again.

There is NO "11th St." in 011. Fillmore St. is located at 1100 South.

There is an 1100 S. Mozart St. (at the SW corner of Fillmore and Mozart Sts.) "11th St." only runs in 001 with Fillmore extending into the West Side at 1100 South.

I don't believe Mozart (2832 W.) exists within 010, certainly not in Douglas Park or the Cook Co. bldgs.

Mozart St. does run through the South/Southwest and North/Northwest Sides a 1/2 block west and parallel to California Ave.

The punks are getting more bold as they see how weak j-fed and mayor asshole are trying to make us! As SCC stated be careful, and watch out for each other the city and the clown exempt structure is not for us. Lets hope for a safe 2009 and that we go home safe, the offenders let them die!

10th District officers followed offender into 011. Offender put up a big struggle but was no match for the officers. Felony approved for disarming and 2 counts agg batt/PO.

Keep up the good work. Stay safe. Stay strong.

Hey 5:10, j-fed and the asshole mayor can not make me weak when I'm on the street,no one can, I always do my best to go home to my family at the end of the tour. For those of you that are out there and worry about possible consequences after an incident, maybe it's time you find another line of work, before you get yourself or another copper killed...seriously.

The stop was initiated in 010, where the offender then went over into 11, after a short foot chase (about 20 feet- where the offender was holding his left side the entire time) he stopped and turned on the officers and began to fight. The officers had their weapons out during the chase which, when the fight started caused the discharge as he attempted to grab the weapopn. The mut was on parole and did not want to go back. Good job rangers, stay safe.

Wherever the heck the incident occurred (and if it occurred on the 1100 block of So. Mozart, it very well could have involved 010th
Dist. officers, since Roosevelt is the dividing line between 010 and 011), thank God the officer(s) survived the attempted disarming.
Stay sharp, people. These are hard times, and there are a lot of hard folks out there with nothing to lose by taking your life.
God bless you all, and stay safe next week when the New Year's fun begins.

I know most cops treat this job as a social gathering these days, and a lot of them don't clean or oil their weapons (shame on them) they think it won't happen to them. they spend more time rushing to get their beverage of choice rite out of roll call. carry a big gun, and carry a back up gun.

No Officers Were Hurt, Thank God.

The incident occurred on the 1100 Block of South Mozart, just over the border from 010 in 011. The offender, an M/1 recently released from state custody who did not want to go back to jail for something as silly as driving stupid and no license, no insurance and all that stuff that other people have to have.

The 10th District Officers curbed the vehicle, there was a short foot chase, a struggle and one of the officer's gun discharged.

No one was hurt, bad guy will ring in 2009 with his homies at CCJ.

The Officers will celebrate with their families.

Stay safe, and think gun retention.

Todays holsters are pretty good... and if you have the current Safariland rig, (and im not going to say how it works on this blog ), look into the optional "sentry" device from the manufacturer. Its about $10,it takes it up from level three to level four . Also consider getting the lastest ALS version. Its another retention in itself. Dont forget about the good old fashioned punch in the nose...Its hard to grab a gun when seeing stars ! Im in favor of shooting anyone who trys to grab a police weapon.

O.T.
Just saw the Covina, Ca. P.D. Chief talk about the Santa shooter who took out 8 or 9 people. Chief said they received 911 call of an Active Shooter and his responding officers formulated a plan and were prepared to Engage an Active Shooter with their AR-15 semi-autos.

J-fraud are you listening?

The Tribune Co. has since corrected the SCC link "Attempted disarming" from "11th St." to FILLMORE ST.

Be accurate if you need help, 9:01 AM and 6:22 PM. Your life may well depend on it.

Police officers have been seriously injured because they were unable to provide the zone dispatcher with their actual location.

Don't count on this new GPS bullshit agenda on a 10-1. The city is not implementing GPS in squad cars to help YOU out.

side story: 25 years ago,
after handling a domestic dist during my PPO time, my FTO angrily asked why I had my hand in my pocket during the DD; I gained his respect and confidence when I reached in my pocket and pulled out a chief special. I had his back!

Boys and Girls!!! If ANYONE tries to grab your weapon, they mean to kill you! Act accordingly...beat the fuck out of them, and write ALL of the reports later...being ALIVE to do the reports...I agree with the officer who stated "a punch in the nose" will stop asshole ....only sometimes more FORCE is NECESSARY.....and for godsakes, handcuff them with wrists in back....old timer.....

Uflacker Academy located at 7355 w Archer rd. near Midway. Has alot of Law Enforcement officers training Brazilain Ju Jitsu. This type of training will increase your chances of winning in a situation of an offender attemping to defeat an arrest or disarm an officer. We can't depend of the department's training we have to find ways of training ourselves and this is a very good option. If you have any questions the web site is bjjsouthside.com

Never ever punch anybody!!! Strike with your elbow or heel of your hand but do not use a fist!! Washington and pulaski punched a guy in the nose but missed and knocked his front teeth out. Gun hand swelled up like a balloon and had to hold him in a choke hold and lay on top of him until the troops arrived. Got a tetnus shot, cast and six weeks IOD

Remember, the Police go home at the end of the tour... shitbird who attempts to disarm gets to wear a cheap, shiny suit with no back to it while supine...preferrably in the cardboard box the coffin was shipped in... sweet justice if p.o. was reimbursed by shitbird's family for spending several nearly $1.00 projectiles to solve a problem they couldn't...

Chicago is lost... it will take many years of grim, bloody policing to put the animals in check so that decent people can be safe in their homes, vehicles and on the public way... the people have no appetite for this so they hope to appease the animal with more link, wic & other freebies...
