How could the Mayor hire someone who appears to have been completely overwhelmed by the responsibilities of the job of Supt. of Chicago Police? And why has such incompetence been allowed to remain in place, after his first year, which most people (civilians and sworn) can plainly see was a failure at every level? With all the changes Weis has made, can anyone point to any successes from last year? Anything positive that can be directly attributed to him? I live in 016 and I'm SHOCKED to hear they made any sort of arrest that doesn't have to do with traffic!! But you're right about one thing, they're jag offs and treat the law abiding tax-payers in 016 like they're ghetto dwellers. Hey, my brother got an ANOV from some handjobs working special for smoking on the CTA platform which is the pimpiest of all pimpy ANOV's. He also told them his brother was CPD and they didn't give a shit, treated him like an ass, and gave him the ANOV. Life goes on, get over it. How could the Mayor hire someone who appears to have been completely overwhelmed by the responsibilities of the job of Supt. of Chicago Police? And why has such incompetence been allowed to remain in place, after his first year, which most people (civilians and sworn) can plainly see was a failure at every level? With all the changes Weis has made, can anyone point to any successes from last year? Anything positive that can be directly attributed to him? The last question to ask is, why in the hell is he still here?

The fact that the rank & file don't like him probably makes the Mayor happy (see Rule 1).
The drop in Police parking ticket revenue has been more than made up for by hiring cheaper civilian ticket writers, and by selling the parking meters.
No one outside of the CPD really has a clue what J-Fed is doing... they voted for a Mayor to worry about that stuff for them, and most of those people think having and ex-FBI guy running the show is a great idea!
Daley had to have an idea of what kind of year this would be couple years ago. With the economy how it was and becoming worse, a terrible budget looming paired with an election year coming up where a top presidential candidate was from Chicago, not to mention a CPD contract up, how couldn't you know things would be bad? You knew crime would go up. Plus future CPD scandals had to be dealt with. What a great time to hire an outside person to head CPD through a shitty time especially a FED right? I mean why embarrass a CPD guy that has come up through the ranks, probably made by Daley and put him/her through this. Not that I am defending him, but you can't be a mayor for 20 yrs and not have a feel of how things will go in near future. Once Daley gets paid back all the money given to Obama to get him in office, things will change! lol

I hear that he's gone by his first anniversary with the department. A lot of money was spent on an inexperienced person. This should not be allowed to happen again. The mayor should be stripped of his power to appoint the superintendent. There should be an impartial committee making this important decision. The impact of the superintendent's decisions effects the rank-and-file, ie. GPS, reopening long closed investigations against officers, etc.
If that really happened to your sister with those Tact guys, I would contact the 16th District commander directly and let him know. He is a stand up guy and wouldn't appreciate that kind of professional courtesy toward a P.O.'s family member.

We've got drunk-ass kids in the streets and alleys around T.R.' s Pub all Spring, Summer, Fall , and sometimes winter, every weekend. That coupled with the drunk teens coming from the block-parties all Summer long make it really enjoyable to live here. Can't wait to move. Wish the cops would lock ALL of em up, every weekend.

I will never bad rap the on duty police for doing their job. ANOV, arrest, DUI, whatever, they do their job and my family won't put themselves on the wrong side of a police officer. If they do, too bad for them.
My kid got caught stealing a hood ornament in 016 when he was in high school. The priest called me from the church where he got the hood ornament from. The priest did me the favor of not calling the police but by time I was done my son wished the on duty police were called instead.
I ran the guys plate and found him and had my son go to his door and tell him he was the kid who damaged his car and he would pay for it a little at a time. I was standing behind listening. By time sonny was done he was in tears and the citizen was glad a parent would take the time to do this to teach a young boy a lesson.
Kid never did that again, that I know of and I hope he never forgot it. That was 16 years ago and son has had no run ins with police since. If a family member got a ticket or even if the police were rude etc, hell, I have bad days too, if I wasn't there I would not interfere, so help me.
So officers from 016, do your job, it is damn tough dealing with kids and family members of police, firemen, bosses and political fucks. I have had lots of passes and nothing but good treatment from 016 police.
And the Fillmore Rangers that I worked with were the real Fillmore Police, they didn't need to identify themselves as such and they worked at 4001 W Fillmore, the real Fillmore. The current 011 District is Harrison.
Now I have to say something to you supercops in 016, I believe the fillmore ranger was not bitching about the pissy boyfriend, but you left his SISTER out in the cold, needing a ride, and I agree with him on that point. Furthermore, I can understand your point about probable cause to find something better, but you still didn't have shit, so move on!!!
