Two Shootings Outside City

All the police are ok, but it seems to reinforce a growing suspicion among officers that attacks are up:
  • A Maywood police officer shot a 14-year-old Maywood boy in the hand early Sunday morning after the youth tried to run down the officer with a car following a traffic stop, police said.
The shooting occurred around 1:35 a.m. near 1st Avenue and the Eisenhower Expressway (Interstate Highway 290) after police stopped the car for not having a working headlight, according to Maywood Police Cmdr. Tim Curry.

The vehicle suddenly accelerated at one of the officers, who had gotten out of his car. The officer fired a single shot at the driver to protect himself from being hit, Curry said. The bullet pierced a window and struck the youth in the right hand.
We're surprised this one hasn't popped up on Mope-rah's radar yet - 14 year old, out driving, after curfew - it has all the hallmarks of a Mope-rah special. But as stated before, she seems to be sane for the moment.
  • GARY | Lake County police are investigating a fatal shooting involving Gary police officers and at least four suspects, Lake County Police Chief Marco Kuyachich said Monday.

The shootout was the result of a drug-related incident gone bad, Kuyachich said. Police have three people in custody and one person is dead, but Kuyachich declined to release the suspects' identities.
Be careful out there. These headlines appear to be popping up more often lately. We don't know if that's the media reporting better (hahaha) or the incidents of batteries to police increasing.

First off THANKS to the person(Fozzi!) from 019 for the compliment on the other page. Im not all that. just humble me doing my thing.

As far as the danger is concerned...Kids its REAL.Its out there EVERYWHERE and it doesnt matter if the contact is 12 or 85,if they are bred to hate the police(yes i said bred) then you HAD BETTER be alert and have at least one safety off on the approach. They hand out cards to IAD in Grammar School so these little wastes can drain your savings and ruin your name. They go to gun stores and buy holsters to practice how to DISARM YOU. While J-Fed would like you to believe he has you wrapped in his protective arm GET REAL. Its a BATTLE OUT HERE DAILY. Dont make the mistake in thinking that youre in anyway safe. Carry at least 2 guns,USE THAT OC LIBERALLY,and if it goes to Step 4 by all means come back home with an empty gun.The point is COME BACK HOME. more

Insofar as the media and Mope-rah go...screw them. They live in a bubble and act on what they hear, not what they see. While I may have not seen the worst out here Ive been close to it....003,006,007,008,010,011,012,014,019(projects only) 018(projects)012,009,002,021 and not boasting at all. I survived an attack in which I was confronted by 3 m-1's in Abla, disarmed(and now carry 3) and lived to tell about it. It is my OBLIGATION to all of you to remind you its no punk out here. To the "youngins" gettin on..PAY ATTENTION TO THAT 'OLD GUY' with the grey hair and the worn out leather and revolver.HOW YOU THINK HE GOT THAT WAY? New age policing means only one thing,Space Age Coffins. It boils down to this: people, places, the things they do and the times they do them. Know that and youre a successful copper.Dont heed that and Ill carry you at St Judes.Sorry for being blunt.

I was once told by an elderly black gentleman "the kids and teens around here used to respect and fear you all. Now they just challenge you to touch them so they can sue. The respect is gone as is the fear, and now everything is shit." In my view, the city council and lawyers are responsible for this. Used to be if you mouthed off to a cop, you got cracked. Now, if you mouth off to a cop and get touched, a lawyer moves in and the city pays them off. The whole system has broken down thanks to our leaders and lawyers. Soon it will be as close to anarchy as it can get and these same people will be going to the media asking why the police aren't doing their job. When you don't want the police to police, don't cry when the system breaks down.

General gripe.

I had a chance to stop by Midwest Guns in Lyons,IL today and what I heard kinda disturbed me. A salesperson was telling a customers as he checked out that "it's ok to carry your gun with you. If you get stopped by the police, the cops have no right to search, or even ask you about any guns. If it's in your car, keep it in a gym bag so the cops can't see it. And tell them you don't want the car searched. There are bad cops out there so watch out. They'll take your gun. So, go ahead and carry it".

I stood by and almost said something. Yes, shame on me for not, but I think I was so amazed that the salesperson was saying that I couldn't think. I never really liked Midwest Guns and, as of today, will no longer go in. Owning a gun is fine, but openly telling someone to fuck the cops and carry it illegally anyway is too much.

Those of you(and me) that have "been there and done that" know what i mean here. You can tell BY LOOKING at a fellow if he has the stones or in rare cases SHE has the stones for this job. You can also tell the ones that have made it thru Step Four. I agree that the City Counsel has torn all our sacks off and fused our spines. How many times have you heard,"Be mindful of the cam phone, they will sue you" I may be a dinosaur insofar as this line of work is concerned, BUT IM AN OLD DINOSAUR.IT may sound sad but THIS IS THE ONLY FAMILY AND FRIENDS I HAVE and trust and believe that I will do all I can in my scope to protect them. As for the youngins,THATS what this is all about. Not the screwed up heathccare, the asshole bosses, the JFAG,or his clones,or the social clubs in the station. Its about having someone back. That means far more to me than anything that they could offer. KNowing the guy along side me is ready to fight just as hard or harder than I am.The far few of us left out here that live that can only shake our heads in shame and disgust at the way things are now. Time for Change? yeah ok. Its changing for the worse.

To Lathrop one:

While I know youre not a card carrying member, I wish you were. I came to your 10-1 in Abla when they fought with you and took your gun. I remember seeing you standing there bleeding wanting to get back in the battle and get the offenders. That stuck in my mind for a long time. You are a rare one to say the least and Im thankful that youre pro Police. A hint: I was the female officer that was at the Domestic on Hastings that you came to (leaving your site to come help) and you took down the guy that was trying to hit me in the head with block of cement. I never had a chance then so Im saying it now...THANK YOU. I hope you're well and fighting the fight. And cudo's for putting the guy away for 4 years that tryed to disarm you.
