Nice Pinch

Of course, this never would happen if the ACLU successfully eliminates "consent searches" as they are trying to do in the article listed right below this one:
  • A traffic stop by Chicago police overnight led to two arrests and the confiscation of 11 weapons, ammunition and hand grenades, authorities said this evening.

Officers assigned to a Surgical Strike Team mission Thursday night pulled over a car containing two men after witnessing the driver make an illegal turn at 63rd Street and Western Avenue, according to police News Affairs.

Police saw a weapon in the car and arrested the two men. After getting permission to search the men's homes, police seized a total of 11 guns -- a shotgun, three rifles and seven handguns -- along with two hand grenades and multiple boxes of ammunition.

Grenades appearing more and more lately, but we don't hear Shortshanks calling for a ban on them for some reason. Maybe Daley thinks the gang bangers are using them to practice for the shot-put or something.

BY FRAN SPIELMAN City Hall Reporter/fspielman@suntimes.com

With tax revenues plummeting, the Daley administration has pulled off the table an offer to raise the salaries of Chicago Police officers by 16.1 percent over five years, according to City Hall sources.

The decision to withdraw a contract offer the Fraternal Order of Police deemed inadequate to begin with could further depress police morale, which is already so low the union took a no-confidence vote on Police Supt. Jody Weis.

It also could prompt the FOP to pull the trigger on arbitration, a potentially risky move for both sides.

This is fucking great........now what do we do?....any suggestions?

This might be what we need to end Dream 2016....

But then it gets fishy because what idoit in their right mind will let anyone CONSENT to a search of their home while they sit in jail! Sounds to good and smells to good to be legit! Smells like a old time FED set up Officers!

Any money found? Was anyone home during the search? Did the bad guys accompany you? With all that happened in the past about SOS and the old gang teams I would not put it past J-Fed to call a couple of buddies to pull something like this and see who they snare! Daley got 1 billion for the sale of the parking meters. The alderman say they have 900 million in their TIFF slush fund. Daley has 500 million in his rain day fund and he put up a 500 million bond for the Olympic bid. That’s 2.9 billion without the precedes of the sale of Midway. The city has already allotted a 16 % raise for the police. Last year the cost of living for Chicago went up 5.6% and the aldermen and the mayor took a 6.5% raise. If the city wants to roll the dice at arbitration they could lose big time.

The City settled with the other unions, only police and fire are left. Does anyone actually believe that an arbitrator would allow 30 unions to get raises and then tell police and fire that there is no money for you?

All Daley wants is to take your attention off of Al Sanchez, Bill Daley, Victor Reyes and his wife, Degnan, Donovan, Joyce and the Mayor’s extended family and himself. Remember that the mayors nephew is under investigation by the IG for loans from the Police Pension Fund! Kiss the Olympics good bye. The city is running third out of the four contenders for 2016. The police will picket the IDOC now and Daley will blame the police for Chicago not being picked.

OT,Daley pulled the 16.1 percent measly raise that was on the table for us. How strange after the No confidence vote he sticks it up our ass again. He really wants to drive the morale of the last few people who will do some work down the gutter. Time for CPD and CFD to get together and hold an informational march while the IOC is in Chicago. This guy is truly fucking unbelievable. I know he wants to fuck us over, but he just went overboard. All the money set aside for the Olympics and fuck the city, fuck the employees, fuck the citizens. Is he off his meds. Time for unity and show this little bastard we are not taking his shit anymore. Let's embarass the hell out of him while the IOC is in Chicago. We need a strong showing of unity. With a large group doing an informational picket. Someone somewhere set this up. FOP should step up and put this together. Bus people in by the hundreds.

We need to protest the IOC committee next week.

SHUT DOWN THE OLYMPIC BID

Say 'NO' to the Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid!

Thursday, April 2, 2009 = 5pm, Federal Plaza (50 W. Adams)
March at 6pm (time approximate)

The International Olympic Committee will be in town from April 2-8th to evaluate Chicago's potential as a Host City for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Let them know that Chicago 2016 does not speak for the people of Chicago. Let them know that Chicagoans have other priorities. Let them hear your voice.

RALLY. SPEAK OUT. PROTEST. SHUT DOWN THE OLYMPIC BID!

We need Better Hospitals, Housing, Schools, and Trains -- Not Olympic Games.

They Play and We Pay. NO GAMES!

THEY LIE ABOUT THE IMPACT OF THE GAMES...

WILL THE OLYMPICS PRODUCE JOBS AND HELP THE ECONOMY?

Based on the 13 Summer Games between 1964 in Tokyo and London in 2012, the overall costs have exceeded a billion dollars ten times, with a net profit only once.
Source: Chris Shaw. Five Ring Circus: Myths and Realities of the Olympic Games

Bid Books Lie. They overstate the benefits of the games and understate their costs. The result is huge coasts and debt for the tax payers of the host city.

"The most important piece of advice that a local government can take regarding mega-events, however, is simply to view with caution any economic impact estimates provided by entities with an incentive to provide inflated benefit figures. While most sports boosters claim that mega-events provide cities with large economic returns, these same boosters present these figures as justification for receiving substantial subsidies for hosting the games. The vast majority of independent academic studies of mega-events show that the benefits to be a fraction of those claimed by event organizers."
Source: Prof. Victor Matheson, "Mega Events: The effect of the world's biggest sporting events on local, regional and national economies"

'Long-term unemployed and workless communities were largely unaffected by the staging of the Games in each of the [last four host] cities. Much of the employment was temporary, and there was also little evidence that volunteer skills transferred to
the post-Games economy,' says the report co-authored by Dr Iain MacRury. 'Greece actually lost 70,000 jobs in the three months following the [2004] Games, mostly in the construction industry.'
Source: www.london.gov.uk/assembly/index.jsp

A report by Roger G. Noll and Andrew Zimbalist of Stanford University found that a new sports facility has an extremely small (perhaps even negative) effect on overall economic activity and employment. Stadia rarely earn anything approaching a reasonable return on investment and sports facilities attract neither tourists nor new industry.
Source: "Sports, Jobs, and Taxes: The Economic Impact of Sports Teams and Stadiums"

WHAT ABOUT HOUSING AND DISPLACEMENT?
Approximately 30,000 poor residents were displaced from their homes in Atlanta by gentrification, the demolition of public housing, rental speculation, and urban renewal projects associated with the Olympics. Approximately 2,000 public housing units were demolished and nearly 6,000 residents displaced. African-Americans were disproportionately affected by displacements, housing unaffordability, and harassment and arrests of the homeless. The criminalization of homelessness was a key feature of the 1996 Atlanta Games: 9,000 arrest citations were issued to homeless people in Atlanta in 1995 and
1996 as part of the Olympic Games 'clean up'.
Source: Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions

The Olympic Games have displaced more than two million people in the last 20 years, disproportionately affection minorities such as the homeless, the poor, Roma and African-Americans, according to ... "Fair Play for Housing Right: Mega Events, Olympic Games and Housing Rights".

Source: Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions

THEY PLAY. WE ALL PAY.

THE OLYMPIC GAMES WILL BANKRUPT THE CITY OF CHICAGO and
YOU WILL BE STUCK PAYING THE BILLS.

RALLY ON APRIL 2!

OT::::::::::
Heard on news this morning that Shortshanks said that we're not getting the 16% offered due to these hard economic times. WTF?! But there's money for the Olympics, right?
Obama gave the Cincinati Police Dept. $1.25 million dollars March 6th, 2009 and personally showed up to concradulate the graduating police academy class. Without the stimulus the class would have been laid off. Since Obama and Daley are "buds" why couldn't our department benefit from a like stimulus. I know there's federal money for equipment (vehicles and more cameras) already slated for Chicago, but what about for the people who really matter? The people that try to keep this a safe city. Where's ours? Tied up in political B.S. that's where.

Good job officers.

However, a good reason not to do shit anymore is the anecdotal story I'm about to relate.

I'm not going to talk about how many felony arrests,CR#s, or honorable mentions I've got. I am not going to boast about how many lawsuits I've been a defendant in, or about how everyone else is a dog-ass, blah, blah, blah!

Here it goes:

I'm cleaning up the house last week. I go out on the porch and grab the mail. Sitting there is the new spring 2009 Dex yellowpages. I bring it in and am rearranging the pantry to accomodate the new books.(I haven't ever even used last years, so I don't even know why I keep them.)

So I am trying to keep things from spilling off the shelves, my hands are full, and the dog is trying to get in there to get a scoobie treat, you get the picture.

I drop the old book, it's heavy and a bit floppy. It hits the floor and opens to page 868. NO shit!

It's the Lawyer section, I never looked at it before. It's the thickest section in the damn book! TRY FINDING A PLUMBER OR SOMETHING,maybe a couple of pages at best. The reason I mention this is the legal profession is nothing but a scam, lawyer's and lawyer politicians protecting each other.(example:tort reform, will never happen!)

Anyway page 868 is a full page ad for those assholes at Loevy & Loevy bragging about the more than $60 million in Jury awards and in big bold letters "no fee until you collect" The ad also features dozens of less than flattering anti-police headlines.

There are more lawfirms in there than there are policeman in Chicago,no lie!

The ad that pissed me off the most was a schmuck named Christopher R Smith law offices. He had a 1/4 page ad with a picture of a professional model, know doubt, dressed in a full Chicago Police uniform with a baton standing over a black male on the ground.

This no doubt is to give the illusion that "Joe" is getting his ass kicked by CPD. In big bold letters it say's "POLICE BRUTALITY"

MY POINT IS:

I think we have lost the war of public opinion, we are now the enemy, along with Enron, and AIG.It took decades, but it has happened. Also, its no secret in Washington DC, the current administration hates L.E. but loves lawyers!

It ain't worth it. IT'S NOW ABOUT SELF PRESERVATION. Just handle your jobs, write paper, and go home!

Off Topic: From the NRA-ILA newsletter

Banning Guns By Zip Code

A new piece of anti-gun legislation needs to be noted. Whether a sign of desperation, or an indication of how ridiculous the anti-gun movement has become, House Bill 1966 was amended this week to become a ban on countless semi-automatic pistols, rifles, shotguns, and .50 caliber rifles. While not a new concept among the gun-ban crowd, the scope of this proposed ban would be unique, to say the least. Rather than ban these firearms statewide, or even within a specific municipality, this bill would ban firearms based on zip codes! Six zip codes, in fact, all within the City of Chicago, would be singled out for this ban. Needless to say, NRA opposes this measure, but we can't help but wonder if the next attempt at passing a gun ban in Illinois will target specific blocks, or maybe even addresses. This only goes to show that those who oppose our Right to Keep and Bear Arms will never stop trying to come up with new, and quite often ridiculous, ideas for promoting their anti-freedom agenda. Please contact your State Representative and urge him or her to oppose HB 1966.

so if they are "baby tact" you must be one of the 008 tact guys. if you are then you have no room to talk. i dont know what this surgical strike team in 008 is but it sounds like they did a hell of a job... a job which you guys in "big boy tact" obviously are not out there doing... but im sure you one of the older, bitter losers who is a loudmouth that knows everything and gets jealous when other coppers make a good arrest... typical 008 tac guy

QUITE DISCOURAGED!!!! I am quite discouraged on all of the bloggers who are throwing jabs at these officers or the name of their team. Can you for once simply appreciate the fact that some officers are still out there doing the work that they were hired to do. Believe me, I have more than my reasons to hate the "state of the union" (B.I.S. survivor, 7 time law suit accused, dumped from S.O.S., etc.). Believe me, I can see why so many people don't want to do a damn thing for this city or department, but c'mon seriously c'mon. Let's not hate those who still do give their part. How about we try sticking together for once? How about we try giving an "at a boy," every now and again to each other. Hell, we all know that we aren't going to get one from anybody else. The days of always looking out for your brothers in blue before even your ownselves is way gone. How about we try bringing a little of that back!!!!

P.S. Good work officers! At least I can sleep a little better tonight knowing that some idiots, who do not deserve to own a firearm, have (11) less firearms. Thank you.

Baby Tact....R u an F'n Retard? These guys have more time on the job than over half the district. They also have more (quality)arrests, guns and SW's then all the teams combined. So PLEASE STFU!

These guys ain't some unit, they are district guys. Half of you kids on here wouldn't even remember the 06 teams. That's all these guys are. I am sure the pud SGT who was on the news came up with the name. Anyone who knows him knows he's gonna demolish the team like he did to all the good guys in 011 on the teams.
Anyone with half a brain knows the 06cars are the best gig in patrol. No locking up 5 drinkers and 7pissers and BS missios like the tact teams are forced to do. You don't have a Sgt to monitor you and you are trusted to do your job and not be babysat.
These guys made a good t-stop. Turned into an even better one with 2 consents signed by both the homeowner and the offender/home owner. Not everyone is as discruntled as all you lazy crying bitches on here. Tons of departments across the nation go without contracts for years. Stop you bitchin and do your job. You don't have to be proactive if you don't want. Just answer your calls, write yoyur paper, ad stop crying like pussies. Be happy you have a job to support you family and aren't on unemployemnt like some people are that have l ost their jobs and struggling to pay the bills. Quit knocking other officers who still have pride and for no reason then nnot being bored for 8 hrs they stop a car or two. I can guarantee you NOBODY IS STOPPING 50 CARS A NIGHT ANYMORE! but those of us with some police experience know who a good stop and know when to be the police. Soem of us have been doing it for a long time and have never had a probelm. IT's all in how you handle yourself.

As for you conspiracy theorists.............obviosly you have never made a gun pinch on the south side or stopped a car out south. These retards have guns all over the place.......YES IN PLAIN VIEW.....Go back to the westside hard-on and chase your 2 bag arrest and pretend you're the "real police". West side is nothing but
bags....................the guns ain't been there for years........

Why doesnt this guy deserve too own a gun? Because he's stupid enought to " have a gun in plain view" and committe a traffic violation? NO Judge or Jury will believe this line of shit. I know I've been there. This is a money maker for the offender, not the officers. Stupid case report and NO way will this go to trial. Just another attack on your rights to own guns. Good Job? hardly. Whats this guys sheet look like?

Ditto, Nice Arrest!

Now maybe the Times and the aclu can sit back and wonder just WTF may have happened with those weapons and grenades… I know it’s hard to sit behind those big gates and think what would have happened if these coppers weren’t out there doing some proactive police work … You Monday morning quarter back all the shit you want, well just do our job.

Hey your last paragraph was:

Grenades appearing more and more lately, but we don't hear Shortshanks calling for a ban on them for some reason. Maybe Daley thinks the gang bangers are using them to practice for the shot-put or something.

Thats why Daley wants the 2016 Olympics. So the same home grown talent can win the shot put aand they can talk about how he turned his life around in Daleys great city.

Alright, morons. No, they were not thugs w/ 12 page rap sheets. However, they were the type of guys that would walk into a university hall, doctor's office, or the place where they were fired and kill everybody they ever knew. For heaven's sake, you weren't there and didn't talk to them. So simply knock off the hard ass bull shit. No it was not the pinch of the century. Noone is claiming that it was. It was a good stop w/ a good follow up. Leave it at that, and stop trying to harass the guys that made it. I know each and every one of them, personally, and plain and simple they like being the police. They are not heroes nor do they claim to be. They are just doing what they enjoy. How are you going to fault them for that????

Grenades?! Where does one get those? I thought Illinois banned class III weapons and they could not be purchased even with a $200 tax stamp? Are you insinuating that criminals don't obey the law?

im all for gun ownership. but not in this case. these guys were convicted felons with a pretty lenghly rap sheet. we are police officers, hand guns are illegal to have in chicago. these guys acting as police officers doing thier job took people into custody for having a hand gun and recovered several others from a convicted felon. unlike some officers, these men did what they are paid to do.. it doesnt matter in what we belive or if we want everyone to own a gun...the fact is that they are police officers enforcing the current laws. if a jury doesnt by it and finds him not guilty then so be it, they still enforced the current laws on the books which is expected of them. good job officers. two convicted felons off the streets and 11 unregistered firearms which were in the wrong hands to begin with were recovered. let the good people of the city own guns, not these nit wits who proven by the arrest history are violent, non law abiding criminals.

008, 3rd watch, this probably coming from sgt T.F. who has a sister that is a sgt M.F., who is just as clueless as him. T.F. hides in the office and ducks as many jobs as possible, leaving all the supervisor work to the other sgt's. is the first to call fellow supervisor when one of their guys needs a supervisor but NEVER come up when his people need him. You can bad talk D.C. or Lil L.G. but they are there and the always willing to do what they can for the guys.

The two officers did a fantastic job once they stopped the vehicle. The got consent to search from the driver of the vehicle and went to his residence. The offender's mom was there and let us in. The guns were recovered and both offenders were charged. The offender with the guns in his house was a piece shit with some gun pinches in his background. It was good police work on some chiefs stupid surgical strike mission that we were required to do. As far as being baby tact, that is priceless. As far as getting duck here or there, if you are a worker you should get taken care of. Any sergeant worth anything takes care of his guys. As far as being on the news none of us wanted to be on the news especially the sergeant. If someone has a problem with the polie work or the guys on the pvrt team feel free to come into the 008th district tact office at 1800 hrs and we will be more than glad to discuss it with you. Why should another copper give a shit if someone is out there being the police.
