Hawks Win

  • The Blackhawks seem intent on making history rather than repeating it. The last time the franchise captured the opening game of a postseason series it proceeded to drop the next four in an early exit.

In an effort to exorcise that demon in Game 2 of the Western Conference playoffs against the Calgary, the Hawks managed to avoid a historical repeat as they rallied to a 3-2 victory over the Flames.

The victory before a crowd of 22,514 at the United Center gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series that now shifts to Calgary for Games 3 Monday night.
The Hawks showed real character, ending up down 0-2 in the first period, they rallied with 3 goals in the second period and then answered everything the Flames threw at them to win the second game in the best of seven series.

Thanks Rocky. No matter how far they go this year, we're happy the only game in town isn't out in Rosemont anymore.

at least they started throwing the puck towards the net. this is not the time to be fancy with the passing. it's for real now kids. hard hitting and all shots on or near the net are good.

I was at this one, and let me just say the the atmosphere there reminded me of the glory days of the teams in the 80's and early 90's at the old Chocago Stadium. Electric. 14 to go.

The sports teams of Chicago all had a good day today...
Bulls beat Boston in Game 1
Cubs beat St Louis in extra innings
Sox beat Tampa on the road
Hawks beat Calgary in Game 2

When was the last time that happened?

Last night's game was full of great hits and great hockey. I have no doubt that the Hawks will pay Havlat what he's worth next year since his contract is up at the end of this season.

Now the question remains...with the salary cap, can we afford him and TWO goalies?

Rocky Wirtz is one class act.

GO HAWKS!!!

Like 12:09 said , they have to quit being fancy with the puck. Take the shot when they have it, and have someone in the crease for the rebound. Good things happen when you throw the puck towards the net.

NBC had an interview with Rocky this morning. While I have never been a big hockey fan, Rocky has earned my respect for what he has been doing. I might even go see a few hockey games!

They're actually fun to watch without having to see thug attitudes and tatts. You can't beat Toews and Kane. Hope they stay healthy.

AGREED! But ya know what ? It was a pretty exciting game, and Derek Rose broke Jordan's Bulls rookie record for most points scored in a playoff game !

And with Kevin Garnett out for this series, some are picking the Bulls over the World Champion Celtics.

Either way, the Bulls and Hawks are both very young and the potential for them both to field good teams for several years is high.

Add to that two very solid baseball teams and a Bears team with a new Pro Bowl QB, and sports around this town should be the source of lots of fun (for the rest of this year, at least!).

Watch for Lovie Smith, Ron Turner and the Bears lack of good wideouts to turn Jay Cutler into a run-of-the-mill field general, however.
