Only the Best!

Low bid contracting strikes again
  • [A]ll 3 of the Tahoes that originally came to 007 are down due to the same problem. Some kind of transmission problem where the back end is locking up. Just guessing the others will have the same fate. All have less than 3,000 miles. Anyone else having these issues?
And J-Fed has been taking credit for "getting" us new vehicles. Does that mean he takes the blame for the problems cropping up?

two tahoes were sent to 008.. this is not a knock on female officers, but this particular officer is a very petite, smaller officer and lost control(going to get gas mind you) and totaled the truck. there is no doubt that the truck will be fixed it is a total loss.... i predict this is going to be common.

J-Fed is talking about the Tahoe like its going to solve morale problems. WTF!!! WE NEEDED NEW CARS! Its not like we wernt going to get new cars at all. The Department cant put all of us on foot, or cram all of us into the bike unit. Personally, Id rather have a "Box" CHEVY! The new Impalas are to damn small for someone over 6'00. The Crown Vic's are pretty good. Havent been in the Dodge / Chry.

Oh, BTW... Who is the dick-head that carved up the steering wheel already?

Lets combat and solve most of the crime problem in the city, HIRE MORE POLICE you fucking idiot. Stop Shmoozing the public and shuffling numbers and telling continuous lies. Hire more fucking cops and let us do our job without you breathing down our necks. Plain and fucking simple...

I test drove the Lexus LX570. Totally dependable. All the bells and whistles are standard.

What the CPD needs is a fleet of SUVs from Lexus.

The Cadillac Escalade, even with tinted windows and dubs, is the way to go if they insist on buying American junk.

The LX, LS and SC Lexus models are too expensive.

In a cost-effective move, the City should opt for either the RX hybrid or better yet, the "Pebble Beach Edition" SUV.

The new Toyota Prius would get 50 miles per gallon.

Regardless, I'd prefer mine in pearlescent sky blue metallic.

Even J.D. Power and Consumer Reports say Lexus/Toyota is the only way to go.

We DEMAND Lexi and Prii. NOW!

off topic but is the department running out of ammo? Went to qualify and had to return the 20 rounds left in the box. I thought the 30 rounds fired, 20 left and an additional 50 rounds later were part of the measly 100 rounds the department gives us each year for practice?

April 15, 2009

Five accident-prone Chicago intersections near schools, seniors and shopping were chosen Tuesday to kick off a yearlong undercover crackdown against motorists who fail to yield for pedestrians.

Off-duty Chicago Police officers posing as pedestrians will start issuing real tickets -- with fines ranging from $50 to $500 -- at 8 a.m. Monday at Division and Hoyne.

That will be followed by another two-hour sting at 8 a.m. April 23 at Nagle and Peterson. On April 25, there will be a triple-header -- at 8 a.m. at 119th and Stewart; 10:30 a.m. at 103rd and South Prairie and at 1 p.m. at 86th and Commercial.

Most of the five intersections are at or near the site of a recent pedestrian crash. All are "uncontrolled" intersections with neither a traffic light nor a stop sign.

Can somebody please explain what that is all about. I just don't get it. Anything else you screw up a on car can be fixed, steering wheels never get replaced.

A reliable source is reporting that fleet is trying to rush a fresh contract to buy Ford/ Crown Vics through city legal. It seems as if fleet has realized that the Tahoe experiment has failed. Very reminiscent of the Impala experiment. Could it be that they have finally come to the realization that for our type of police service the Ford CV/PI is the best bang for the buck? Lets stay optimistic that some time in the very near future that the city/fleet will place a healthy order for new Fords.

One of the two Tahoes that were sent to 011 is now down after the rainstorm last week. Something happened which caused a large amount of water to come through the room of the vehicle and onto the PDT. Not sure if the PDT was salvaged or not, but I'm sure the vehicle won't be back for a few months.

Are Tahoes really the best choice of vehicle for the hammering they get for police work? Cuz I'm thinking back and when I was a teenager, a Tahoe would be no match for my 68 Mustang but there was no escaping those Impala's.

8:22 AM. STFU The tahoes are REAR WHEEL DRIVE, not "front end drive." That might be why the rear end locks ups. Put the Playboy magazine down, take that little bitty thing out of your right hand and go read a car magazine. Might keep your eyesight from getting any worst.

If they would let the manufacturer fully equip the tahoes we would have less/no problems! Fleet is nothing more than clouted "parts changers" with no clue how to wire/repair anything! Leaks? why? maybe they drilled the holes to big and sahzammm it leaks!

You bring car in for repair 1/2 the time you pull out something else is now broken! Fleet should be farmed out!

There are a couple inherent prob's with the tahoe's. One is the rearends locking up. No idea what is causing it, probably a gearing issue in the differential. Also, the exhaust systems are already rusted out. They are coming from the dealer that way. They have had to replace several exhaust systems on the tahoes even before sending them on the street. Then the union guys at fleet are pissed because the tahoes are coming from the dealer already equipped with lights and cages. This is supposed to be a union job performed at fleet. Looks like someone is trying to downsize manpower at fleet. Apparently greivances are in the works. They are cameraed to the hilt, have more mic's than Abbey Road, and are not getting the gun locks installed. As a matter of fact, no one is getting gun locks. 600 sitting at area 1 but not being put in. They still can't decide the best way to install them. Most of the guys making decisions in this cities government have their heads so far up their asses it isn't even funny. We need to clean house and start fresh. We definitely need some new leadership. God save the King.

OnStar: How can I help?

CPD: I need someone to respond to a report of shots fired.

OnStar: Yes, Sir, what kind of shots would those be?

CPD: Gun shots!

OnStar: I'm sorry, you say someone just shot your Tahoe?

CPD: No, I'm a police officer - I need help!

OnStar: OK. Your a Tahoe Police Officer and you need a shot?

CPD: Never mind....
