Blame the Police - Always

Daley's policy of paying out to everyone who sues comes back to bite taxpayers in the ass. Again:
  • A Chicago man freed a year ago after DNA cleared him of a rape for which he spent 12 years in prison has alleged in a federal lawsuit that he was framed by Chicago police.

Dean Cage, 42, was convicted in 1995 of the rape of a 15-year-old girl on the South Side after she identified him in a police lineup and said she recognized his voice.

Cage, who had just moved to Chicago from Arkansas and was working at a supermarket, was arrested a week before Thanksgiving 1994 after police said a tip stemming from a published composite sketch led them to him.

Cage, who had no criminal record, repeatedly denied that he had committed the rape but was convicted in a bench trial and all of his appeals were denied.

So he's identified by the victim, she testifies against him, he chooses a bench trial and the judge finds the victim more credible than him. Not only that, the appellate courts also find there were no errors in the process.

But whose fault is it?
  • Since being freed, Cage received a "certificate of innocence" from the state, allowing him to seek compensation for his years in prison, which he is in the process of doing, said his attorney, Jon Loevy. But last week Cage sued the City of Chicago, a police detective who investigated the rape and other unnamed officers, alleging that he was framed to simply clear the crime.
Ah yes, another Loevy case. We haven't heard that the judge is being sued. Oh wait, they're immune. What about the victim? Oh, that'd be cruel. Let's just blame the detectives who followed up on the victim's identification and testimony. Corp Counsel is probably already writing the check at Daley's direction.

And how about the CPD taking the hit for Cook County's decision to hold holiday bond court at 11am? This rule has been in effect for how many years now? But suddenly it's a giant police conspiracy? Amazing.

Ace Reporter Phil Schitz's City Hall source said Daley is overjoyed that this incident is staying alive in the news. It keeps the citizens attention diverted.

There was no coverup. The officer is being held on a $2,000,000 bond and can't get out of county. That's a coverup? Chuck Goudie and Pam Zekman: Do "investigative reporting" and show us the coverup.

Today's media is useless. They are frightened of losing their jobs and will say anything on the air to keep their jobs. Very few fellow journalists have character anymore.

I hate my own profession.

Hmmmmmm, Certificate of Innocence you say? Compensation involved? I'm sure I can make up a beautiful one, much like my fake parking placard, and see if I can cash in on some of this Innocence money myself.

Yeah, well, it's Crook County....Back in 1990-91 or so, I had an arguement with a roommate. He saw an opportunity to get the Police to help him win it, called CPD up and told them I had a silencer, which was in fact a DUMMY silencer for a MAC10 PISTOL (semi auto only) that I no longer owned since moving into the city from the suburbs. The CPD guys who responded entered my room without a warrant, were too ignorant to know the difference between that and a real one, and arrested me on my return to the residence. All well and good (maybe) to this point, but then they refuse to listen to my explanation, refuse to check it out first, etc., and are unprofessionally whooping it up because they think they have the arrest of the month. They treated me, an honorably discharged Army Infantry veteran and former Corrections Officer at Stateville with the scars to prove it, like I was garbage. The State's Attorney wanted me held without bail, and at trial kept pushing for a plea, which I refused over and over. The Judge kept suggesting it as well. Only a phone call from ATF to his chambers made him drop the charges, and these pricks all acted like a dog who's had his dinner snatched away from him. They just wanted the conviction, didn't care if I was guilty or not. Guess I should have sued the city too, but I settled for moving out of state. Face it, the criminal justice system in Chicago sucks ass.

You yeah, forgot to mention, half of the other gun related items that were confiscated (all legal, magazines and such) were STOLEN by CPD personnel in that the inventory form never recorded them and they were not there to be returned in accordance with the judge's order. F**king thieves with badges in the property office......

These days when I'm not oversea's as a security contractor, you can find me in the vicinity of
www.lvmpd.com

Too many scumbags/losers/hacks/crooks with badges on CPD. Sorry but it's the truth, however much you may not wish to face it. But hey, keep telling yourselves it's only one or two bad apples....

That damn Burge and his Black Box Brigade. It'll be decades before these cons stop blaming them and every other Dic for their unfortunate incarcerations.

Burge is now blamed for what hundreds of false confessions ? One guy make the charge and now ANYONE who was arrested, tried, and convicted jumps on with the lies that the police 'beat' a confession out of him.

I mean, come on, maybe there was a little hinky stuff going on ... God knows a couple of slaps may not have been out of the question ... but now all the lies are piling on ... the lawyers reflexively lie for their client, see that Burge may have happened to have been in charge of the area where their degenerate client was processed, and now they were tortured. I heard a media airhead say 'if this is true then Burge is the worst guy in the world.' No media guy, the lawyers are violating their morals and their oaths ...they are playing the game.

Nobody sees this but us. Nobody sees how the game is played do they?

And you can be that Mr. Loevy, who's got yacht payments to make, poor guy, has already become great pals with the rape victim, and has told her all about how the detectives froced her to identify Mr. Dean, and forced her to testify against him at trial.

Guarantee you that detail's already been nailed down.

I guess I'd like to see the complaint on this one, but then again maybe not, I got enough to keep the stress factor going good.

I guess which judge will this be assigned too and if it gets past a hearing or two, it's just one of Fa$t Eddie$ judges...

DUMMY silencer? And the "semi-auto" MAC10 pistol you used to own was for sport fishing? You've since learned to kiss and make up with the roomie BEFORE he calls the police. Idiot.

To 5:03am and 510am: There is more to the story than you are letting out. Why is there a dummy silencer at all? To make you look cool? If you were such a great IDOC officer, why weren't you one then? Did you get fired for some reason? Or did you quit before you got fired?

If you were aggrieved so badly for this incident, I am sure you would have contacted one of the many attorneys that make a great living out of suing the Police and made some money off of this.

I say you are full of shit.

Isn't a dummy silencer just a homemade silencer? Unless he's referring to a hitman hired to eliminate CPD's current admin.

No, it was because I'm a gun person and living in Illinois a semi MAC was as close as you could come legally to the real thing. I had sold it before moving into the city to attend UIC. ATF calls it a "dummy" or "Barrel extension. Yeah, it looked cool, or so I thought......

Actually, I was an acting Sgt. with only 4 months on the job. Getting smacked in the head with a bat twice and stabbed 3 times because I wouldn't "respect" the gangleaders in B West, then being sent right back into the same cellhouse so they could try again did'nt seem like a good idea. 5 of us against 220 of them doesn't work. No gun rail in that cellhouse to cover your back then. They put a catwalk in after 3 officers, me included, nearly got killed in there.

"I say you are full of shit."

Go ask Serb and Omachi up in Edgewater how full of shit we were the night back in '91 or so when we, as armed private security on the street, arrested one of Wilmette's finest for possession of narcotics. Quote: "If we're gonna take care of this, we have to do it before the Sergeant gets here". ROFLMMFAO

I know there's some good guys on CPD, but there's also a lot who will go whichever way the wind blows. I see a lot of Ill. FOP medallions on cars out in here Vegas..... :/

Oh, by the way, I now own 4 REAL silencers, all legal, out in Nevada, looking to buy my first full auto when I get back from overseas. ATF approved, baby....

You folks take care.

In the end, your ex "roommate" was the real dummy silencer, acting Sgt. Dummy (ret.).

Thanks for illustrating my point about the level of knowledge among officers on the street when it comes to exotic weaponry, ie. zilch.
I invite you to try this theory out at the range sometime.
Cheers.
