Shooting in 011

  • Police reportedly fatally shot at least one person on the West Side Wednesday evening.

About 7:30 p.m., police fired shots in the 4300 block of West Washington Boulevard, Independent Police Review Authority spokesman Mark Payne said.

"There were shots with hits," Payne said. He could not immediately provide further details and said investigators were on the scene.

Be careful out there.

"Nearly 50 illegal aliens were found living in a one bedroom apartment near 67th Avenue and Thomas in Phoenix.

"Police were led to the apartment when a neighbor reported that a large group of people were dropped off.

"A neighbor, Dojah Satvah says he had no idea how many people could have been in such a small place. 'Woke up this morning it sounded like there was a little carnival outside you know its crazy to know it's in your neighborhood like this..."

Check out the pics. All dirty, wearing blue masks, jammed together -- no H1N1 flu here, no sir.

That was the stupidest thing I have ever read. I'm sure every copper who wears a holster like that feels empty inside. Nine in the morning is too early to be that drunk.

Just a little note for the hollow souled coppers though, it's pretty well known that the plastic holsters that are secured with a paddle instead of loop will tear off with minimal effort. Im not sure if this is a issue with only the cheaper models or all of them. I didn't think it was an issue with loop secured plastic holsters, maybe some off the non-retarded gun guys could speak up.

I have seen coppers wearing Blackhawk CQC holsters that aren't intended for duty use worn on their duty belts, never seemed like a good idea. They do make beefier holsters that are intended for duty use, they cost about twice as much. Most duty holsters these days, whether leather-covered Safariland or other, rely on a plastic frame and mounts. Some are just more rugged than others.

No matter what level retention holster you use, given time people will be able to disarm you. There's nothing you can do about it when unconscious. The only thing that could have prevented this is laminated or ballistics glass on all the windows of the tahoe, but that would increase the risk of entrapment.

I had one of those plastic blackhawk holsters, but luckily I found out that they were shit before anything horrible happened. I broke off my belt and into three pieces by just bumping it into a wall. If anyone has these holsters, please get rid of them. I know they are conveinent for plain clothes, but they are not worth the risk. Use a normal pancake or a duty holster. Be safe out there.

A few things here....
One... Before bullshit rumors get started, J-Fool did NOT get a CR on the victim/officer. Not defending J-Fraud here, just stating fact.

Two... Neither the holster nor the officer are to blame here. The MONSTER that was hell bent on killing our officer is to blame. The struggle for the weapon was so violent and the offender so determined to kill this officer, that no brand of holster would have withstood the force of the struggle. Anyone who has battled with these scumbags on our streets knows of what I speak.

Please be very careful out there.

It shouldn't really matter what kind of holster it is. Yes we should be securing it in at least a level II but this POS grabbed for the officer's gun and unfortunately ripped it loose. He still may have defeated a level II. The issue is this sh*thead shouldn't be trying to disarm an officer. Good job 015th Dist. PO for stopping the threat. If you don't have a positive comment for the PO, then have some common sense.

Not many of those on the job have had a traumatic experience like this officer has and to bad mouth with rumors and remarks that have no bearing are not what we are about.

I believe that this officer has aged in wisdom from this incident and will one day pass onto another young officer some kind words and encouragement who will have come face to face with evil and prevailed.

I'm proud to have known this fine young officer who will have a long and proud career!

If you don't have a positive comment for the PO, then have some common sense.

Not many of those on the job have had a traumatic experience like this officer has and to bad mouth with rumors and remarks that have no bearing are not what we are about.
I'm proud to have known this fine young officer who will have a long and proud career!

And anyone who would seek to do harm to his good name, well they can kiss my big fat ass!

f.t.o. Joe, I take most of the stuff on here as sarcasm and humor and hope that most of us do. I don't think of this kind of incident as traumatic at least as long as the copper comes out unscathed. We all come on the job knowing what we might have to do in the course of our careers. The only exception may be when the job comes from politics or a relative or big breasts. We should all put ourselves in the shitheads shoes. Does anybody think they are traumatized when they hurt or kill one of us. I don't think so. They just drink an extra forty and go about their business. We should be able to go out and have the extra forty then go about our business. Just don't get caught going over .08 bac. Good job by everyone, you too f.t.o. Joe.

I believe that this officer has aged in wisdom from this incident and will one day pass onto another young officer some kind words and encouragement who will have come face to face with evil and prevailed.

I PERSONALLY KNOW THIS OFFICER AND FULL WELL AGREE WITH FTO JOE. HE IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE A WORKER..ITS SOMETHING THAT DRIVES HIM DEEP INSIDE, GOING OUT THERE EVERYDAY DOING THE BEST HE POSSIBLY CAN, NOT FOR RECOGNITION BUT AS A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE. I KNOW IF I WAS TO EVER ASK FOR AN ASSIST OR GET INTO A 10-1 SITUATION HIS FACE WOULD BE THE FIRST ONE ON SCENE EVEN IF HE WAS JUST SITTING DOWN TO EAT THAT CHIPOTLE BURRITO. FOR ANY NAYSAYERS OUT THERE THE FIGHT EXHIBITED BY A CORNERED WILD ANIMAL IS WHAT IS EXHIBITED BY THESE CRIMINALS, HELL A 90 POUND FEMALE CAN BE A STRUGGLE FOR A 250 GUY WHEN THEY GOT IT SET IN THERE HEAD THAT THEY ARE NOT GOIN BACK TO PRISON, SO ANY TALK ABOUT TACTICS OR HOLSTERS SHOULD NOT EVEN COME INTO PLAY HERE. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING HERE IS THAT OUR FINE OFFICER "MEAT" IS WELL AND HANDLED HIS SITUATION EXCEPTIONALLY. IM PROUD TO KNOW HIM AND BE ABLE TO WORK WITH HIM BECAUSE I KNOW HE HAS MY BACK AND HIS FELLOW OFFICERS BACKS DAY IN AND DAY OUT. ALL WHO KNOW OR WORK WITH HIM CAN TELL YOU THAT IF YOU NEED SOMETHING DONE YOU CAN COUNT ON HIM TO MAKE IT HAPPEN PRAY FOR HIS SPEEDY RECOVERY, AND WE COMMEND THIS OFFICER FOR THE COURAGE, BRAVERY, AND STRENGTH HE DISPLAYED WHEN CONFRONTED WITH SUCH A HARROWING SITUATION.

"What do illegal aliens [50 in a one-bedroom apartment] have to do with 'shooting in 011?' Just asking."

This sort of thing is indicative of the worsening situation that is leading to more street violence in America. Police chief of Phoenix says that if he can't get it stopped it'll be everywhere -- not that 025, Berwyn, Cicero, etc. are still part of the United States right now as it is.

I've seen and counted over 25 Filipinos living in a tiny 3 1/2 room Norwood Park apartment. Bunk beds, extra refrigerator, rice boiling day and night, huge sacks of garbage and laundry coming out- like the foc'sle of a tramp frieghter. The whole parking lot was jammed with their automobiles, too.

U.S. population projected to increase by 150 million by the year 2050 -- and it's being done like this.

Is isn't it time that Chalky got a markeing "line extension" - you know a, a little sibling named "Caliber" who keeps tabs on how many shootings we've had in this fair city of ours?

The Libune is reporting 9 shootings as breaking news this a.m. and I just wondered how that panned out across the year.

Of course, I know that makes extra work for you SCC, but inquiring minds want to know.

Supt. weis has initiated a CR on the injured officer for not properly securing his weapon.

-----------------------------------
Shut the fuck up LIAR. The SUPT nor anyone else has done that. This Supt has done more for us then any other. M4's are on the street, Merit Names Published, New Vehicles in the districts. Yeah he fucked up with Cozzi but made up with it when Mettie got his job back. Blame some of these old dinosaurs we have had and the Mayor. One thing I cannot stand is a liar.

If true, wear something that offers real protection. Not one of those plastic pieces of crap........

I have seen w/ my own eyes Safari land III with two snaps and twist and rock, etc.. literally torn off it's platform leaving half on the belt and the other in shitheads hand.Of course he couldn't do much with it.. but still.. Hmmm can't quite figure out whose argument I'm making here... I'll go away now, discuss amongst yourselves.

Would like to know the truth about the holster situation, but the fact of the matter is certain plastic holsters are approved. Plenty of guys use pancakes and other unauthorized holsters and equipment everyday. Blackhawk makes a Level 2 and Level 3 Duty holster, both of which are great holsters. If a cop chooses to use a pancake or CQC blackhawk holster etc. that is there choice, but it is not approved or recomended

What happened to gun inspection? Things are too lax. The supervisors are too lazy to do their jobs or are afraid of the beef/lawsuit.

5/28/2009 09:55:00 AM

AND WHEN A BOSS TELLS YOU TO STAND UP FOR GUN INSPECTION YOU BITCH AND COMPLAIN ABOUT IT.

To 28 May 0123 Hours: you are right that an unedited reality show based on cameras from Tahoes in 011 would shock & scare "normal" people.

And as to the shooting in 011, POs are fine, bad guys not so much, so this is all good news (to me anyway)
