Take a moment this Fathers' Day to remember those from our CPD family who have been taken from us while on the job as many of them were fathers or soon to be fathers.

Losing a father is never easy, no matter what the difficulties in the relationship might have been. But, losing a father to the violence of our city's streets and in a public way is especially difficult.

So, join me in saying a big THANK YOU to all the CPD dads, those still with us and those who were taken too soon.

Happiest of Fathers' Days!

Another thing Jody and Deputy "I got your back" Dugan dont have in common with most police officers that are over 50, they are not fathers. I guess that is why they only care about their own careers and cant relate to the rest of us. They have no idea what fathers/police officers have to go through.

If people widely refer to you as a WEISel, this means that among other things, you desperatlely need to develop at least minimal "people skills".

Compassion, a sincere smile, even a firm handshake with direct eye contact would be a good start. You really need to read my book.

I have often advised captains of industry that while they may outrank their subordinates, that in no way makes them "superior" as human beings. Talk is cheap and hypocrisy and phoniness are unconscionable. Persecution and exploitation of a subordinate for a personal political agenda is far beyond forgiveness.

off-topic SCC check out that story where all of Washington is up in arms with the Chicago-Style politics that have been used this week to force long time respected inspector out his job. Dogass Mayor misused fed funds and got caught but he's a personal of friend of Obama, Rahm and B Daley so they're calling the poor man senile and getting rid of him. They may have gone too far. We can only hope.

K9 officer Mark Borski(?)Not sure of the spelling, but he was t-boned by a guy who blew a red light at Kimball and Irving, He was on his way to help 017 officers who had a banger with a gun take off on them. The banger ditched the gun. Thank God he was wearing a seatbelt, his car was totaled. He was admitted to Masonic but he will be o.k. The dog was o.k. too. The dog was going to get a check-up by the vet just to make sure. I hope the officer heals swiftly and isnt in too much pain. His help sure was appreciated..you know how short it is out there. The offender is in custody and gun recovered. Good job by all, especially Sgt. Nigro and 2 day guys who got the gun. Actually, all the guys and girls did a great job.

They have missed a wonderful and important part of life. They will realize that as they age and are lonely. Family is first. The CPD medals tarmish with age.

I'm laughing. Just heard on the radio that some "expert" says that "this Father's Day is especially meaningful because fathers have made so much progress in rejecting male stereotypes."

This means that, instead of playing with your kids, you are supposed to SELF-CONSCIOUSLY play with your kids.

I'd say that I was ashamed not to have thought of my own father today, and of everything he sacrificed for me, except that it's OK -- I am only human and very busy and tired.

I can't say it to you so I will say it here. Thanks, Dad -- and thanks, 09:08, for the reminder!

Growing up there were alot of holidays that were only halfway celebrated because dad wasn't there, he was working, or he was sleeping because he had to go into work. Now it's harder to celebrate any sort of holiday because dad is gone. Don't take family members for granted, it's easy, but one day someone will be gone and then it's too late. Happy Father's Day to all and I miss you dad.

I live in Edison Park and I spent my Fathers Day by bringing my family down to one of Chicago's wonderful ethnic festivals in Humboldt Park - Puerto Rican fest .. we had a great time, and my kids learned all kinds of fun stuff ... How to make some cool hand signs like "throwing up the forks" and making a crown with their fingers, it was all so educational for them ... except when we stopped at a trailer for some ethnic Puerto Rican food ... and my little girl asked "Daddy why did that spit in your rice", I said don't worry honey it's for flavor. What a way to spend Father's day!!!

Happy Father's Day SCC and all PO/fathers out there who do their best for their family.

My own dad died 4 years before I set foot in the CPD academy and never got to feel the pride of seeing his son in a CPD uniform. If you have one, I hope you got to see or call your dad today.

When I got my appointment letter to the CPD, my son was the first person I showed it to. For all we face every day, be proud of what you do.

I spent my entire weekend including Fathers day tearing out drywall in my basement and spraying bleach and water to prevent mold in my basement that flooded. Speaking of mold I'd like to thank Richie for worrying about our infrastructure and not caring about something as meaningless as getting the olympics. THANKS. I hope we get the olympics and you get to watch them from federal prison.
Anyway time to say bub bye...I gotta go take a MASTERS now.

I don't want to call you an idiot... but, we aren't complaining about a 40 hour week. It's working 6 straight days, or 48 hours in a row that's killing us. They need to work the schedule better so we can work 40 hours a week, but not six straight days. It's just too much.
I also hear that the 4-2 is the way to go. I'll take absolutely anything instead of having to suit up and drive into work 6 straight days.
