Secret Meetings

  • Just two days after Chicago 2016 Chairman Patrick Ryan tried to put off public hearings with angry aldermen about plans for financing the Olympic Games, he came to City Hall on Wednesday to allay their concerns in a series of closed-door meetings.

As he tried to calm City Council members who complained Mayor Richard Daley was keeping them in the dark about potential liability for taxpayers, Ryan and a Daley spokeswoman denied the private briefings would prevent the public from knowing what aldermen were being told.

The head of a private foundation dedicated to spending almost $5 billion in taxpayer money holding secret meetings with the people who are supposed to represent and safeguard the public interest and control the purse strings?

Time to yank the plug on these assholes. Call them and let them know you are supporting viable candidates to oppose them in every instance.

I would like to address the younger guys and gals on the department about morale. This department is like a friend that calls you when they need something, such help with painting or moving, but when it comes time to ask thm to return the favor they are nowhere to be found.
So do your job and do it well but remember when it comes time for your friend to help you're on your own. Leave your job at check off and go home to the most important thing in life, friends and family. true friends and family will be there when you need them.

This reminds me of a story about Old Man Daley I read.

Daley the First needed to move some HUD residents into 2 mostly non-HUD wards. Both sets of constituents told their Aldermen: don't even think about it. If you do you are out of here.

Both Aldermen went running to Daley. Daley told both of them that he wants it done and they had better vote YA for it at the council hearing.

One aldermen stood by his constituents. He voted NO to the move. He angered Daley but was re-elected. However, Daley cock-blocked that aldermen's every move from there on.

The other alderman took Daley's side over his constituents. He lost his re-election, but Daley made him a judge!

In Daley, All Things Are Possible.

“It is the public policy of this State that public bodies exist to aid in the conduct of the people’s business and that the people have a right to be informed as to the conduct of their business.” (5 ILCS 120/1)

The intent of the Illinois Open Meetings Act is to ensure that public business is conducted in public view by prohibiting secret deliberations and actions on matters that should be discussed in a public forum.

The Act reflects the balance between the rights of the public against the needs of government officials to be able to discuss sensitive matters candidly by excepting particular narrowly-construed circumstances under which a meeting may be held in closed session. The Office of the Attorney General understands that access to meetings helps to ensure the accountability of government to its citizens.

Daley is laughing all the way to the bank. He doesn't care if he loses the next election. He might not even run. He has stolen more and set himself up for more deals now than anyone could believe. All he needs to do is to secure Da Lympics and he and his merry band of thieves will be set.

Like his old man used to say, "Don't take a nickel. Just hand them your business card."

Time for a revolution!

Open meetings act?! We don't need no open meetings!

Why ask the question SCC when you know the answer. Daley and his 50 thieves live in their own little world where they can do anything. They are above the law and no one will stop them and everyone will vote for them again and again. Chicago has become a socialist country controlled by a vicious dictator that uses fear to stay in power. The only way those types are taken out of power is through a bloody revolution.

Watch; after these secret meetings the aldersheep will come out and say all is well, they were misled by the media reports. Let the games begin!!

Enough of all this 2016 nonsense.
Everyone acts as if there is nothing to be done about it.

Solution...As a collective write a letter to the IOC, stating that as Chicago Police, Fire, and other Public Safety Officers, you respectfully request that the IOC remove Chicago from consideration for hosting the 2016 Olympics because you can not guarantee the safety of either the athletes nor the visitors.

Specifically, the Chicago Police Department is experiencing a chronic shortage of manpower and ever decreasing funding. A look at the enclosed crime statistics show that Chicago is a very scary place in the summer.

Chances are very strong that crime would jump exponentially if Olympic goer's were to descend on this city. Especially in light of the fact that many of the Olympic venues will be placed in the highest crime areas of Chicago.

Visitor's unfamiliar with Chicago who venture out at night are literally risking their lives, and sadly a vastly understaffed police department can do little to protect them.

Therefore, with all due respect, please choose from the other venues and eliminate Chicago from the contest.

Respectfully yours,

You know...the smart thing for "us" to do is to determine all the property associated with the 2016 "PLAN". It would take some time but maybe, just maybe, there are some intelligent "real" investigative reporters, OR POLICEMEN for that matter, that can make a full assessment of "WHO" owns these properties.

One would need to pierce "CORPORATE", "PRIVATE" and "SILENT PARTNERSHIP" types of ownership but that may reveal "true" ownership.

Once ownership is established then maybe we could take a look at:

1. cost of purchase
2. any and all City enforcement action prior to sale.
3. zoning changes and times of change.
4. where the money for the purchase came from (i.e. Bank (what bank), pension fund or private interest).

Once these and other items are assessed then we could figure what "contractors" are slated for the development of these properties. From the people who get to demo the area to the people who get to build the structures to the people who get the cleaning contracts.

For any of you who have dealt with the City building department and have tried to obtain permits, fast track or not. Let's assess how the permits for all this development are handled. Will there be plans first or is this going to be another "Millenium Park". Have any of you been able to start building without permits or plans?

The bottom line point is that if we knew who were the LAND SPECULATORS associated with 2016 Olympics, we might find out why there is just such a NEED for this to happen. I mean beyond "FOR THE GOOD OF THE PEOPLE OF CHICAGO".

Remember...the real money is in land and the speculation prior to public development. Imagine if you had insight into what parcels would be developed if the Olympics came to Chicago in 2016?

Now imagine if you had that information a decade before it would happen?

Now imagine if you controlled the development...say...in the name of the "PEOPLE"?

How much money do you think you could have made...LEGITIMATELY?

jUST qUESTIONS?

Ryan was originally going to meet with the aldermen TWO MONTHS from now; there was enough screaming that they very suddenly made that "two days."

By the way -- the one e-mail address I got for an IOC member doesn't work -- mailbox full - and it is ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to get through to them on their web site. There is an elaborate page where you have to "register" "to be allowed to ask a specific question" and when you do and click "send," the HTML blows up, it doesn't work, and there you are holding your d**k.

They're like a stone wall -- like someone here said, "Move along, nothing here to see, never mind what's going on behind the curtain." These people get everything done in penthouses, on mountain terraces, and out on golf courses. If you're really lucky and strain your neck, you might get a glimpse of the man who watches their cars for them.

We owe the IOC the same degree of courtesy and "transparency" they show us -- none whatsoever.

Just where are they going to get the billions in private donations. Start putting the names on papaer and the amount that they are going to contribute and the totals.

Put it all down on paper and let the public decide.

I call bullshit on all of this.

With Daley, if it is secret, it is rigged!

This is OUR money they are dividing up and deciding how to spend IN SECRET, WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE!

Rotten goddamned crooked bastards! This will give the US Attorney something to investigate for years. And the people of Chicago, the citizens, the saps, the Chumbalones, the ones who stay home on election day, they will get a long hard one right up their ass.

You 72% of voters who sat on your hands last mayoral election day, this is ALL YOUR FAULT! This what you get for NOT VOTING! You get someone like Richard M. Daley holding secret meeting, grudgingly at that, to inform the group of trained seals called the City Council, how he is going to divvy up $5 billion and we shouldn't worry about, we can trust him!

This is the same Mayor who has presided over an unbroken string of corruption dating back to the day he took office! Remember ERA towing in 1989? That is when the public corruption of the Daley administration began.

I would sooner trust a gypsy fortune teller with my money than Richard M. Daley.

Is it me or what? First time I saw this character crawl out and start spewing his bs over the olympics he seemed confident in what he was saying. This latest move with the private meetings w/alderman he seems to have lost his swagger, doesnt want to answer even the softest questions thrown his way. He's not as polished as Daley in lying to the public on a long term basis. The golden boy seems ready to throw in the towel cuz I think he realizes that no matter how much he makes on this deal his age/health will prevent him from seeing the opening games without drooling on himself as he soils his depends.
