Police Wound Armed Student

So all year long, the kids try to avoid school. Now, with school closed, they start breaking in? With replica firearms?
  • A 14-year-old boy who allegedly pointed a firearm at Chicago police was shot by an officer inside a Pilsen neighborhood elementary school that he and a 13-year-old boy allegedly broke into Monday morning.

Police said that about 4:30 a.m. officers responded to a burglar alarm that activated at the Whittier Elementary School, 1900 W. 23rd St. When officers got inside the school they discovered a 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy.

The older boy allegedly pointed a weapon - possibly a shotgun - at officers, one of whom then shot at him and struck him in the leg. The 14-year-old did not fire his weapon and the 13-year-old did not have a weapon, police said.

We don't think this is what Daley had in mind when he said, "I ask you to involve your children in positive learning activities through [...] programs like After School Matters..." in a letter he sent home with every student. After School doesn't mean 4:30 am evidently.

anyone know the rule on getting your pension if you quit with around 10yrs on? Do you just get what you put into it all at once? I know once you reach a certain point that is no longer an option, that u have to get your monthly bs checks after u hit 50. HELP....... need to know

6/14/2009 09:26:00 PM

The answer is as follows...
Every year a member earns 2.5% of their salary towards pension. For the first 9 years and 364 days, if you leave, you get the money back in a lump sum, say $50,000.00 At ten years, you are vested in the program. for example, if you leave with 12 years on it is as follows...

12 x 2.5% = 30%

.30 x say 70,000 = 21,000/year

So if you leave after say 12 years, and the salary is 70,000,
you would get 1,750.00 a month.
I'm not sure how they handle taxes. That's why if you leave after 20 years, it's 50%

20 x 2.5 = 50%

Hope that helps

At the end of the day, call the pension board, or FOP, they will be able to help you more accurately.

THe careless manner in which the local news media reported this incident just goe to show you the anti police stance both rags have taken. To see the headlines the way they are reported makes one who doesnt know better (like the entire libtard population of shitcago) that the police simply entered a school full of yutes and shot one of them for no reason.

On Channel 5 news yesterady evening, Allison Rosati announced the armed teenager as "the shooting victim."

Allison, he was not a victim! He was an offender commiting a burglary while armed with a pellet rifle that was manufactured to look exactly like a 12 gauge shotgun and he pointed it at responding police officers. The police officer fired his weapon when he feared for his life. The police officer had no way of knowing, in a blink of an eye, that it was not a real shotgun.

How about reporting the story fairly? "The offender was shot once in the leg by police after he allegedly pointed a shotgun at them."

Those liberal communist copy writers that are entering the words into the teleprompter for you have an agenda formulated to make the police look bad as often as possible.

Why don't you check your copy before air time and report the stories fairly?

More importantly, how did a Chicago Trib. photographer (photojournalist, sorry) get into a crime scene, take a photo of the minor Offender's weapon (while an evidence marker was shown) and post it on the Trib's website, without delay? Anyone mind explaining that one to me? Could it be that we had to explain to the media why we shot a P.O.S.? Just wondering, because I thought we were supposed to secure (3rd floor) crime scenes. Did the guy have a helicopter with a stadium camera to get that pic? WTF?

for those curious about why the offender was shot in the leg, did anyone say the offender was standing still when he was shot? maybe he was shot while running and pointing his weapon at police. if so, good shot by the officer in hitting a moving target. good job to the officer and responding officers who assisted and apprehended the crooks.

As I understand it that decision was made by News Affairs and the On Scene Brass. Maybe it's a good thing to let the public see what we are up against. There would be less, "Oh he could't have had a gun!" bullshit on TV after a police involved shooting.

You tell me one time that you ever trained to shoot for "center mass" with a fucking gun pointed at you? A paper target is one thing. A real person pointing what appeared to be a shotgun is completely different. IDIOT!! You probably shoot one handed with the "strap" tilted on an angle. Fucknut!
