Week Two

Second game of the season and possibly the game that will define the rest of the season. 0-2 isn't an impossible hole to climb out of, but it sets a hell of a road for a team with an aging defense, a porous secondary and an offensive line that has to be perfect every single time to protect a cannon-armed QB throwing to a mediocre receiving corps.

Pittsburgh is favored by 3.

By the way, the Blackhawks lost their preseason opener in OT 3-2. Hockey hopes spring anew in the Windy City.

How is the field? Did they fix it after Bono and his U2 band destroyed it? Will they have sand painted green like Sox park did after the disco demolition in the 70's?

the hawks are currently working out 5 goalies in training camp--- huet will be the starter and the fight for the back up is between crawford and niemi--- two guys who show potential but lack experience-- the biggest mistake the hawks committed in the off season was letting khabi go to the oilers--- if huet goes down, look out, now what do you do--- place a kid in there or you have to make a deal and bring a veteran in which means they will have to give something up that's valuable plus cash---- all in all the hawks show a lot of upside and will be strong on both sides of the puck--- GO BLACKHAWKS...

On a side note. It is good to see a sports figure do something good instead of some slime ball like Michael Vick.

Ben Roethlisberger to announce Cook County K-9 Grant

MAYWOOD (STNG) -- Pittsburgh Steelers’ Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will announce Sunday a grant to be distributed to the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Canine Unit headquartered in west suburban Maywood.

The grant marks the first in a 2009 cycle distributed by The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation as part of The Giving Back Fund, according to a press release from The Giving Back Fund.

Throughout the NFL season, the foundation will distribute grants to police and fire departments in Pittsburgh and in the cities and surrounding communities of each regular season away opponent for the Steelers in 2009, the release said.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Police Canine Unit, through its fiscal partner Best Friends Animal Society, is seeking financial assistance for the purchase of a canine to replace one that was recently lost due to retirement, the release said.

“The Cook County Sheriff’s Police K-9 Unit is utilized every day by our department and also by numerous suburban agencies within Cook County, demonstrating how canine teams have become an integral part of everyday police work,” said Sheriff Thomas J. Dart. “Being able to add another team to our canine unit will enable our department to even better serve the citizens of Cook County.”

“It was an honor and a privilege to work with police and fire departments in and around Pittsburgh as well as with others around the country,” Roethlisberger said. “We have had the opportunity to see first-hand how important the dogs are to these men and women who risk their lives every day to protect us.”

I'm trying to stay optimistic and think Jay will be a little better today but the receivers need to know the patterns.

Blackhawks had their 58th consecutive sellout at home! What a day. I had my kids with me at ND, and my son went with to the United Center. Now all I need is a winning Lotto ticket!
Go Bears! Go Irish! Go Blackhawks!

OT It is time for all the unions in this city to get together and tell the mayor where he can shove it. This is the largest democraticly controlled city in the United States and it is anti union. All we do is fight with the city. The whole city needs to go on strike, police, fire, water, etc., like they do in Europe. Let the midget see what it is like without the lowly peons who do the work. He wants to privatize everything. Do you think a private company would take furlough days and cut the city a deal. Not a chance. Let the department and the midget go fuck themselves.

It's going to be a long day for Chicago, based on the stats I just checked on NFL.com.

Start of the 2nd qtr, and Big Ben already has over 100 yards passing.

Cutler just went incomplete. 4-6 and less than 20 yards.

Yay. Go Jay.

Memo to tact and gang teams it is kinda fucked up to finish your "work" in time for the game and call for transports while watching the game. Can hardly wait for the DOPW lawsuits you tools.

Cutler was awesome, but I sure wish the Bears could have laid their hands on Mendenhall, a local boy, he was running all over the place.

I was at the United Center for the Hawks. They'll be fine. I was wondering about the back-ups for Huet. Whoever posted the names of those guys, thanks.
It's so different watching a team like the current Hawks. I'm so used to the dump and chase Hawks that were so boring to watch. These guys are a blast to watch. Wish I could afford to go to more games but can't. I'll be watching them on TV with my son. Can't wait!

Sounds like he is in the proper place. Now let his career begin its downward spiral.

And this, after two of our guys saved one of their guys from being beaten to death in 018 a few weeks back at Dickens/Halsted!

Sorry. None are available. J-Fed has them assigned as Deputy Chiefs reporting directly to him.

GOODFELLAS Movie dialogue:

Billy Batts: Go home and get your fucking shine box.
Tommy DeVito: Just don't go busting my balls, Billy, okay?
Billy Batts: Hey, Tommy, if I was gonna break your balls, I'd tell you to go home and get your shine box.
[to his friends]
Billy Batts: Now this kid, this kid was great. They, they used to call him Spitshine Tommy.

Get back to me at the end of the season, when the Bears finish 9-7 and miss the playoffs.

My crystal ball still has Lovie about 2/3 of the way into the season saying, "Jay is our quarterback."
