Selling the Referendum

Someone asked if we could supply "selling points" for those collecting signatures. Some stories they could tell people they approach to somehow justify reducing the number of aldercreatures from 50 to something around 25 or maybe less.

Seriously?
  • Foie Gras ban
  • Bottled Water tax
  • Potholes
  • Sewer collapses
  • Snow removal - haha
  • Barking dogs
  • Burke actually proposed looking under dogs tails for unneutered pets
  • Substandard schools that never get better
  • Crooked land deals, including CTA property for $1
  • Approval of the Parking Meter debacle
  • Approval of selling Chicago's future for pennies on the dollar
  • Wasting money fighting for a gun ban that is in direct conflict with an established Supreme Court ruling
  • Jackpot justice payouts
Oh yeah, and an undermanned Police Department that has been giving and giving for over two years of de facto layoffs via attrition without any relief in sight.

Does that sell it?

SCC, is there a way that you can incorporate the whole "rubber stamp" issue into this, as well? When is the last time that the Chicago City Council ever disagreed with the Mayor, aside from the last Parking Meter Fiasco thing which they had also originally rubber stamped?

The city of Chgo is run as private enterprise. Daley has APPOINTED or SLATED all the candidates to fill the city council seats which is exactly what the CEO of a private company does with his board. The entitlement Daley feels he has is the entitlement which Daley does in fact HAVE as he has been allowed, unencumbered, to follow this process for years. Is it any wonder that the Governor of the state felt he was doing no wrong in selling a senate seat to the highest bidder when goverment positions at every level in Illinois are sold to the highest bidder and Mayor Daley is the auctioneer?

The word I am getting among political circles is that Daley is planning on NOT running for reelection but will loot the kingdom prior to the 2011 election.

He will loot the city by selling off assets that should never ever be sold such as the water supply system. that will open the door for private businesses tapping into Lake Michigan and make untold fortunes selling an asset as irreplaceable as oil.

Daley needs to be stopped! Blago was small potatoes in his "public corruption crime spree" compared to Daley. Blago was hustling chump change while Daley is selling off the infrastructure of the City of Chicago for the purpose of enriching the usual group of criminals.

The US Attorney needs to act NOW!

How about telling them how different things would be if Shorty had only 25 fellow thieves to control and split with. Gee, what a difference a vote of 25 to Zero would be versus 50 to Zero.

I ALMOST WANT TO THINK THAT SHORTSHANKS HIMSELF IS BEHIND THIS AS PART OF HIS EVIL PLAN TO SELL OFF THE WHOLE CITY.

This is as much a waste of time an effort as enforcing the Foie Gras ban.

Now targeting specific alderman like Smith and Dixon, knocking them off at the polls because they pissed off city employees. Now you are talking REAL POWER.

Then they would FEAR US.

Hey people. Let's be honest here. The object of this referendum IS NOT to reduce the number of Aldermen in the city council. This is a NON-BINDING referendum. Getting it on the ballot is a BIG stretch.

Even if successful, you can expect the stuttering prick to say something like this on the 10 o'clock news with his sad grandfatherly look: "This is totally understandable. EVERYONE is hurting in this economy. The police and firemen don't think they should have to sacrifice like the rest of US. Paying for them is the biggest part of the city budget. Other city employees are losing their jobs because the police and fire unions won't help everyone else by taking voluntary furlough days. You all know that. Instead they want to attack the city council, who by the way, I think are doing a wonderful job during this crisis. The council members are only expressing the thoughts of most Chicagoans, 'Why do police and fire think they are better than other Chicagoans?' But just because they think they are better than all the other Chicagoans doesn't mean we should strip all the rest of our citizens of their RIGHTFUL REPRESENTATION in our government."

Getting this referendum on the the ballot will not reduce the size of the city council. PERIOD.

It will, however, remind the good citizens and taxpayers of this city that they DO NOT HAVE TO PUT UP WITH being ignored and pushed around by this little bully of a mayor!

That they DO NOT HAVE TO PUT UP WITH the kind of government this mayor has thrust on them, giving jobs only to family and friends and chosen members of the Daley/Burke Crime Family!

Getting this referendum on the ballot will remind people that in numbers there is strength and that IT IS POSSIBLE to fight City Hall!

Getting this referendum on the ballot will also remind the aldermen of this city council that kissing the mayor's butt is not the only responsibility of an elected representative of the people and that NOT representing the wishes of the voters CAN RESULT in becoming unemployed.

It's about taking back what belongs to the citizens of Chicago, and demanding an honest days work for an honest days pay from their aldermen.

Its about putting every politician in Illinois on notice that the voters are getting fed up with their BS raising taxes and then misappropriating funds;
And raising taxes and then creating more giveaway programs for people who REFUSE to work;
And raising taxes and then spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in order to redecorate their office space with mahogany and marble and leather;

It's time to let these politicians know that just as we the people need to adjust to this horrible economy SO DO THEY! Business as usual must end for these people OR we can elect new people.

There is a backlash brewing and this referendum may just be the tip of the iceberg!

VOTE FOR NO INCUMBENTS!

You forgot the skateboarding ordiance. That ordiance has had a profound effect on our crime ridden streets. They really make a difference, but seriously they are by far the most useless bunch of clowns I've ever seen. It's like a bad SNL skit.

When do we over throw this government. After all, it is our constitutional right.

What about the P.O.S Alder-scum Rey Colon that changed the Zoning for kick-backs in favor of Brickerdike to build more free housing for the gang-bangers and free loaders using our TIF money
how about using those million of dollars wiser?
how about hiring more police and create more jobs instead to handing out millions to this FUC$$ERS!
A group called ANT (armitage neighborhoods together) has file a costly lawsuit against zoning and very soon against the city
we need more people like them that stand to this ass-wipes Alder-thiefs and city officials
