Another Missing Returns Home

More evidence that the 95% clearance rate would probably stay around 95%:
  • A 56-year-old Bridgeport man who had been last seen over the weekend eventually returned home and is back with his family, police said today.
Can we devote police resources to the rising shooting trends and garage burglary patterns now?

Although I agree with most of your posts, this missing man from Bridgeport really was missing and has never been missing before. Very alarming for family and friends and we are glad he is home and not a statistic. Suffers from diabetes, lost job and no healthcare. Legal citizen and turned away at local Hospital when additional treatment was needed.

Missing Persons Det. did excellent job!

This one should not have been in the paper

Chicago police this morning were hoping the public could help them find a 15-year-old girl who disappeared on Thanksgiving Day following a disagreement with her parents.

Police said Downer has been in contact with her friends and police through her MySpace social-networking page.

Michael Maxey Jr., who goes by the name Wayne, was reported missing about 4:30 p.m. Monday. Police said he returned from school Monday with his sister, then left with the family handgun and bullets. They said he did not have a history of being a runaway.
He was found dead.

Yeah, but he's an adult man of sound mind! If he wants to take off, that's a personal matter between him and his family! Why is it that everyone wants the police to be their nanny, counselor, big brother, and caretaker? The police shouldn't have been involved in that case.

Teen cop impersonator out of state facility
December 16, 2009 11:02 AM | No Comments
The teen who famously masqueraded as a Chicago police officer -- donning a uniform and riding along with another officer -- was ordered released this morning after more than two months in a state youth facility.

Judge Andrew Berman warned the teen, whom the Tribune is not naming because he is a juvenile, to follow the rules of his probation and stay out of trouble.

"Surprise me," Berman told the teen. "Make me not see you for a while."

The teen had been in the state youth correctional facility since Sept. 29, when Berman ordered him taken into custody after he violated his home confinement, one of the terms of his probation.

The probation was the penalty for the impersonation incident, which happened in January, and another incident in May in which he went to a South Side car dealership posing as a buyer, then drove off the lot in a luxury car and led police on a chase.

Berman this morning reinstated the terms of the teen's previous probation and imposed a 7 p.m. curfew for Sunday through Thursday and an 8 p.m. curfew for Friday and Sat

Missing Persons Det. did excellent job!

How did "Missing Persons Det." (I assume you mean SVU) do an excellent job if the guy returned home on his own??? No wonder the guy left, his family and friends are all morons.

All you hotshit detectives that look down on the SVU people shouldn't be so cocky, especially you HSG people with your 35% clearance rate....

No matter what you do on this job, it ain't rocket science.

All these people with advanced college degrees and there was a higher clearance rate when the police only had GED's.....?????

SVU detectives know and can do what all other detectives know and can do. THEN, they have to know all the nuances and details of juvenile law and the many, many, obscure requirements of Youth HQ.

Look down on them all you want, but they know their stuff. They just don't go running around in thousand dollar suits, beating their chests and telling you how great they are, like so many OTHER detectives do.

Go ahead and just be yourselves! How does a returned missing end up with us pointing fingers at each other? The missing speaks fluent english and turned out to be despondent and was taken to another hospital immediately by family. His diabetes may have been a factor in his mindset. Just because he is Mexican does not mean he does not deserve our service. Question: Since he turned up alive, SVU wasted their time? I would rather look for him than all the people on day passes from nursing homes that are late for curfew or the children that are missing on a regular basis from
Aunt Marthas.

And...I am the police!
