Christmas Shooting
Deering District police officers responded about 8:40 p.m. to a domestic disturbance in the 2000 block of West 51st Street and found a man holding a knife to his throat inside the home, according to a police statement.
[...] Officers ordered the male to drop the knife, and a Taser was deployed when he did not comply. The male was not affected by the Taser and held the knife against the neck of a woman in the residence, according to the statement. Sources said the woman was his wife.
Officers again ordered him to drop the knife. When he failed to comply again an officer discharged a Taser for a second time. Again, the Taser did not affect the suspect, the statement said.
According to sources, when officers tased the man the first time, he pulled the wires out. When officers tased him for the second time, he again pulled the wires out with his hands.
The man then lunged at officers with the knife, prompting an officer to fire his weapon, fatally wounding him, police said.

Next time skip the taser and just shoot the shithead in the head. If he had cut his wife's throat, the shitmedia would have been complaining about why the police didn't shoot him right away and save the wife. It's really surprising it all ended as good as it did.

If someone was holding your wife with a knife to her throat,(scratch that,your child) would you want the officer to taser or shoot him in the head. Stop thinking those tasers are the end all. When deadly force need be applied, apply it. There has been several officers killed and or severely wounded trying to use their taser when they should have been shooting. Training is the key. . . Never second guess yourself only learn from it so your decision making proccess will be quicker.

The second taser shot was just enough juice to render the armed offender momentarily unable to control his motor functions, but long enough for the wife to break free. He then regained his strength and, still armed, started toward the police. His deadly threat was then answered with deadly force.
Congrats to all involved, especially Sgt. F.L. for saving the life of the victimized wife and especially the officer that ended the threat, thereby saving the lives of responding personnel and/or preventing serious injury to everyone on the scene.
To the previous commenters, stop the second guessing and bravado. You were not there. This incident could not have a better ending.

The most important part is the officers enjoyed Christmas with their family and the piece of shit did not. The area that this happened in has long been considered the armpit of the 009th district. That 4 -6 block area around 51st and Damen has some of the biggest pieces of shit in the entire 009th district.
I will not second guess the officers involved, and I am very happy that they are ok, and that the bad guy is not. I want to give a reminder from taser training. The taser is NOT a substitute for deadly force. If deadly force is warranted, use it. Don't fuck around with the taser. If you miss or he does not fall with the first shot, a person, especially a crazy or drug affected person can cover ground quickly. He will be on you with that knife. Do what you have to do, then justify it. Fuck these motherfuckers, go home to your family, just like the good officers in 009 did.
