Memorial Fund Operation Santa

  • During tough economic times, gifts under the Christmas tree are no longer taken for granted. But imagine what it's like for child who has lost a parent.

Over the weekend, one group tried to make the holidays a little easier for them.

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation was remembering the families of officers who were killed or injured while on duty with "Operation Santa."

Children from 18 families were included this year.

A very nice job remembering the families officers left behind.

This is a yearly event worth donating additional money to. Would like to see them incorporate the kids' birthdays too.

Just a reminder... 100% of all monies donated by the po-po (active and retired) goes to members and families of the CPD, from you... The Memorial Foundation.
NO operating expenses comes from the $$ YOU donate.
The Memorial itself(aka the brick and mortar) east of Soldier Field is paid for. (again, thanks to you and corporate/private donors)
What they are doing now is called, "The Mission Beyond the Memorial."
YOUR donations now are used for things like Operation Santa, paying for grammar, high and college tuition's of our members catastrophically injured in the line of duty, grammar and high school tuition of members klled in line of duty (college graciously paid for by "100 Club") $3,000.00 paid to the family of any 'active' member who dies (does not have to be line of duty) to help family with funeral costs just to name a FEW worthwhile things OUR Memorial Foundation does for us.
Like our Chaplains Ministry, they have our interest at heart and that's why I continue to support them.
So, especially at this time of year may each of you count your blessings, stay safe and keep our less fortunate brothers and sisters 'On the Job' in your hearts, thoughts and prayers.
The Thin Blue Line

Remember this is on top of his 6 figure Retired Supe Pay.
There's HIS Mission Beyond the Memorial.
Keep making your Payroll Deductions, because it's going to a "worthwhile cause"

To the ones that bash and bad mouth the CPMF.....YOU MAKE ME SICK!!

I pray that nothing happens to you during your CPD career (if in fact you are even CPD) THAT WOULD BE CATASTROPHIC TO YOU AND/OR YOUR FAMILY where you would need help. Then I'm certain you would appreciate the CPMF alot more. Maybe then you wouldn't be so concerned with Phil Cline and his salary.

Do you honestly think he is going to work for free? Would you work for free? I seriously doubt it.

The only sham here is YOU!

I bet the families of the fallen officers really appreciate all the CPMF does for them. In fact, I know firsthand that they do.

- Signed, a person who gladly volenteers their time for the CPMF, a very worthy cause and donates part of every paycheck -

Who came up with the idea of a memorial?
Who worked to start it?
Who promoted people on the basis of their involvement in the memorial?
Who pushed almost every PO to join with the publicity , etc.?
Who now gets a paycheck from memorial?

I am not so sure why so many of you are openly bashing the Police Memorial.Phil Cline is an amazing man. He has called many times to see what we need. From the beginning the memorial has been there, not overbearing, but have been a huge support to our family, Densey, me, Ann (Densey's ex wife). He has made perfectly clear that whatever we need they will do what they can to get it for us. There are multiple things the city has denied us such as internet which as soon as Phil Cline found out he came right over and set that all up for us. I cannot even tell you that among city organizations, We know that if we do need something we can call. Let me tell you we are not getting it from the comittee of finance.

You're right Mary, he's amazing man with the sleight of hand. It's the false pretenses, strongarming POs to join the Foundation &the 6figures he collects from the Fund. Not to mention the picking& choosing who receives support.
For alot of Us, It Just doesn't pass the smell test.
God Bless The Cole Family, you're always in our prayers ...
