Say What Now?
- State Rep. Monique Davis owes the Chicago Board of Education close to $500,000 in rent, back taxes and fines for a South Side building she has been using rent-free as a legislative office for 7 years, according to a report from the school system's inspector general.
The school district has taken legal action against the long-time Chicago legislator, suing her for $83,737.35, according to court documents filed in November. The district is not seeking compensation for property taxes and associated fees.
And why aren't they seeking the rest of the money? We highly doubt that we'd be permitted to walk away from a bill totaling half-a-million. In fact, we know we wouldn't seeing as how the Department sends out those blue notices every so often for wage garnishment if you have even a single outstanding parking ticket.
Shouldn't there be an Ethics "investigation" or something by her peers in Springfield? Oh wait...Illinois. We forgot.

Does this mean that some school board members are going to have their monthly "don't-have-to-account-for-where-it's spent" stipends reduced to cover this shortage?
And while it'd be nice to see Monique have to cough-up a cool half million, the school district isn't going to see much, if any, of the pittance for which they're suing her. You'd have an easier time squeezing blood out of a turnip. Read between the lines and make some not-too-far-off-the-mark, "cultural-based" inferences to figure out why restitution isn't going to happen. "Ghetto-Fabulous" lifestyle and "living for the moment" are just two facets of my logic applied in this instance (Feel free to expand on this direction of thought).
Just another disgusting reminder why every single Democratic incumbent needs to be shown the door next election. Waste, waste and more waste - all billed to the working-class stiffs barely treading water in the ocean of life.
The article in the Sun Times was good. At one point this is what Davis said.
After her lease expired in 2002, Davis said, she asked then-School Board President Michael Scott to sign a new lease and he said, " 'I'll get back to you.' . . . The indication was 'I'll get this done for you.' .
So according to Davis if you call her office and they say that they will get back to you. That means that they will do what you want.
But you have to give Davis some credit. They can't prove her wrong because Scott can't anser any questions. Just blame it on the dead man Monique. Classic Shitago politics
She probably just started a payment plan like Michael Scott.
They are attempting to spring Al Sanchez free too. This city is just unreal in so many ways.

I am sickened that 51% of my property taxes goes to the CPS. Imagine the undetected graft and corruption.
Use some logic. If you are a "renter" how do you get stuck with the taxes on a building????

Theres a boss in VICE, E.B. if your not a female in the unit giving him the special treatment, your out. Its so bad all his girlfriends are in a pissing contest, who can get the other one dumped. Unbelievable, he follows one of his special ladies everywhere and she is always running to E.B with the 411. Cant someone pull his phone records, one even was given a take home car.
And this information leads us to ask, where is her monthly legislative stipend, afforded by law, for her office rental and expenses, been going, seeing that she is unable to immediately correct this mess?
What did she do with the expense money allocated to her? FBI please?
Does it matter anymore? All you see is a suburban po killed someone in a dui, abbate got fired, a cop did something bad, etc. If anyone else does something as bad as this rep has it just doesnt matter, we are truly hated by all. So hate em back, they still have a bit fear of us on the street.

The school district is not in charge of collecting back taxes. That would need to come from the county.
Monique always touts her teaching credentials. As a former educator, she should know better. :)
and if it hadn't been investigated by the sun-times, the other monique (el skeletor) woulda kept details of the deal where no one would find out. that's her real job.

I believe State Rep. Monique Davis was also the politician who came out staunchly in support of Derrick Rose a while back when all those gangbanger pictures surfaced. she got on the radio shows to vilify anyone who would talk bad of the innocent young Derrick Rose.
She got on WGN and wouldn't let anyone else talk and argued that Rose worked hard for what he had and no one was going to show any "false" pictures that would paint Derrick Rose in a bad light.
I laugh at these revelations. It couldn't have happened to a better piece of shit.
In commercial leases the taxes are either paid by the landlord or the lessee as stipulated in the lease.
