Someone Explain This

Downstate State's Attorneys? The Department of Corrections? The governor maybe?
  • Authorities have charged a Joliet man on parole for murder with the slaying of a 79-year-old Hyde Park resident who Thursday afternoon had just left a fast-food restaurant where he picked up chicken for a Christmas Eve party.

Police say Lee Cration, 48, waited for Ralph Elliott to leave a a Popeye's restaurant, then came up to him as he tried to get in his car. Cration allegedly struggled with Elliott, then shot him in the face and back. He rummaged through Elliott's pockets before fleeing, police said.

Seventy-nine years old, married to the same woman for 54 years, childless but very involved in his extended family with a nephew who is CPD, and he gets killed by some piece of shit who probably shouldn't have even been on the street. Read this:
  • Records show he was paroled in November 2008 from prison, where he had been held since 1985 for a murder a year before. He also was convicted in 2001 and 2005 of aggravated battery of a peace officer. In the earlier incident, he assaulted at least two prison guards at Pinckneyville Correctional Center who tried to get him to remove personal property from his cell. Officials at the time said Cration had "an extensive history of violence, including ten staff assaults and one inmate assault along with five 'dangerous disturbances,' " according to an Associated Press story.
Sentenced to 28 years for homicide with multiple behavior problems in prison? Including attacks on guards? And he still earned time off for "good behavior?" He should have been caged until 2013 on the murder charge and the Aggravated Battery charges should have run consecutively, not concurrently. What penalty is there in having a concurrent sentence? None that we can see.

Which all means Mr. Elliot could have had another 4 years of a life well lived at the minimum. Or at least stood a better chance of dying at home in his own bed with his wife of 58 years at his side instead of on the tarmac of a Popeye's restaurant in the cold and wet of a Chicago Christmas.

What a fucking shame.

This incident highlights the best reason to keep trying to put the bad guys away. You can work in the "busiest" district in the city and there are still plenty of good people who live there.

Those folks need police who do their jobs. Those folks need States Attorneys who put the bad guys away. Those folks need corrections officials who keep the baddest of the bad locked up for as long as possible.

This gentleman seemingly lived a good life. He deserved a longer life and a better death.

Then the judges across the country were screaming for increased protection.

Expect more like this, elected officials think they are "saving money" by letting the scum out of jail early. What is good behavior in prison? When one doesn't kill anyone lately and smiles at his parole hearing?

And a police officer, one of our own, goes to prison for slapping one of these fucking scum shitbags.

Thanks jody weis.

I totally agree.
Is the media or the revs going to explain this to there constituents or telling the truth in the justice system to harsh for them. Thanks for putting the real info to us as harsh as it may be. I’m ready to march and see how many other known career criminals are out here not caged, waiting to victimize innocent people.

So is this how it goes:
Citizen believes in the system. Vote and elect the judges to prosecute cases
We catch offenders and process offenders
Citizen believes in the system. Vote and elect the States Attorneys to prosecute cases
We attend court in lengthy cases to prosecute cases
Good Police Case officers, Detectives, States Attorneys obtain finding of guilty
Judges give appropriate sentence for cases
Citizen who was initial victim believes in the system and that this person won’t hurt another person again.
Prisoner goes to jail as directed!
Who is changing the rules at the end?
Giving them time for Good behavior for major violent cases?
Letting them out the back door so they can show up at your door!!!!
Will someone inform the judges and States Attorneys so they can change the amount of time they stay?
Give them double time if they are going to cut their sentences.
Give the offender handcuffed to the family in a closed room for 15 min if you are giving good behavior time.
What’s left can go to jail.
Especially when DNA, video of the offence or defining evidence is present

Why do the tax payers have to pay for the impending suit when we did our job without a contract!!!!!!!!!
Dis is sum Bul Sit!!!!!!!!

4. Hired Truck companies "paid to do nothing" (2004)

A Chicago Sun-Times investigation broke the story of how the City of Chicago's $40 million-a-year Hired Truck Program was paying trucking companies, many of them with ties to city employees or organized crime, for doing little or no work. Dozens ended up convicted of federal crimes, the program was dismantled and prosecutors followed leads from the case to also unravel widespread hiring fraud at City Hall.

This incident forces me to make my end of year vent:
- bail/bond should be real. Get a $50,000 bond; you need the 50 grand to get out.
- sentenced to prison for 5 years; you do the 5 years, in a cell, alone, 23 hrs a day with only a bible and the newspaper to read. No time off for good behavior, no gym workouts, nothing. Prison needs to be a punishment.
- police use of force needs to be losened up; you have a weapon in your hand when the police confront you - you're dead. Period.
- felony review should be eliminated. The law is written in simple language. Cops are educated. We can read. If the element for the crime is there the crime is charged. Use the trial date to try the case.
- every judge, state attorney and police brass above commander should have to ride a midnight beat car with real police in the city's busiest district for at least 1 tour per month. Let them see the shitheads, the witnesses and the victims in their real environment, not gussied up for the court date.

This incident is crying shame on a screwed up and somewhat useless judicial system. A senseless act led to a senseless death. God help us all.

When people don't demand justice for their neighbors, they get none for themselves.

Justice is a pact. It's an agreement between you and everyone else in society. It means if your neighbor is the victim of a crime, you will support the punishment of the offender, regardless of any personal feelings you may have for the offender or your neighbor.

But, when you start telling your neighbor, "You know what? That offender is very poor and he didn't have a very nice daddy and you have so much more than he does, so in this case I'm going to give him a second chance,"...

then you have violated your pact.

And that is what has happened in American society. That is why a murderer was released on parole. That is why sentences run concurrent. That is why this man is dead.

Americans only want people who hurt them punished. When their neighbors are hurt, the only important question seems to be why he did it. As if that should matter at all.

Some years back, when we had a "Boys Court"( for boys 17-21) onthe 2nd floor of the 13th district, there was a sitting judge who was extremely liberal. He repeatedly placed boys on probation for battery and robbery. Then he was a robbery victim and got socked in the face, but good. He ceased being a liberal. This should happen to many of the judges, ASA, and parole officials.

You fools are the collective sires of these predators roaming our streets.

You charlatains have drank from the cup of eternal damnation for preaching the false doctrine of misplaced victimology, avoidance of personal responsibility, nihilism, idolatry, heathenism and blatant disregard for law and lawful authority.

To the first three who have perverted the teachings of Christ... Those who have preached the gospel before you are surely getting chafed from revolving in their crypts at your complicity and silence for political hay and a handful of silver. Jesus weeps at your betrayal and will deal with you specially because you call yourselves annointed to the calling of seeking justice, setting examples and seeking out need and ministering to it. Not walking on the back of each other's shoes to have face time with a camera to pile ashes and damnation on the heads of the Police for your deaf and blind yet noisy & annoying congregants whose contribution to the betterment of society is nil.

The only reason Pfleger is allowed to remain at St. Sabina is because the envelopes going to the Archdiocese are relatively thick and the Cardinal is too craven to yank that clown's chain... hard.

We feel so sorry for the upright citizen/taxpayers of this city. We try our best but 42 extra-short is taking his vendetta out on the Police at your expense. You, the good citizens are truly on your own. We hope you do what you must to protect YOUR families at the moment of truth because there just are just simply NOT ENOUGH POLICE OFFICERS TO HELP YOU. Do not let Daley or Weis continue to escape responsibility for continually lying to YOU the taxpayer and final arbiter.

Daley feels everyone is expendable but him. The good citizens should storm City Hall. By God they have every right to...

God send his love, peace and blessing to that poor man and his family in their season of grief but we will continue to see more of this type of thing. This man and his wife are exactly the people the overwhelming majority of us go out to protect each and every day. The fucking animal was let out of prison after having a murder conviction? What ever happened to spending your life in prison for murder??? This piece of shit is exactly the same type that the scumbag Loevy and Loevy would have tried to sue police officers for. He is the same type of shitbag that liberals and reverunds would march for to protect him from the "racist" or "uncle tom" police. Why don't we ship our animals to some other country if we won't keep them locked up. I find it amazing that on the show Gangland on cable, that gangs across the United States brag about the rape, murder, robbery, drug selling, shooting at police, etc...and we still have liberal marxist rich kids defending them. Let's declare war on the gangs...export them or incarcerate them...all of them....then the good people of this country can raise our kids in peace. This dream of mine will not happen as long as Dumbocrats are looking for uneducated voters to keep them in office. Enough is enough!! Look at Ron Holt...locking up scum..only to have his only son taken by a shitbag. Jesse Jackass, Al Sharpton, etc. need to learn that some shitbags cannot be reformed and need to be permantly removed from our society. Some time it takes a village to kick the village shitbag out of the village or send them to the gas chamber.

And so it goes...another good citizen bites the dust. Maybe this jagoff can get out in 10 years because of budget cuts at the prison????

Mama was a crack whore. Daddy beat feet when Mama told him that he knocked her up. He was abused by various family members in his "formative" years. He was recruited into a gang at a young age. He's been learning disabled his entire life. Blah...blah...blah...blah.

I suggest every legitimate, hardworking, productive member of this city "illegally" carry a handgun to protect yourselves and your loved ones in case you're ever put in a similar situation.

Thanks to your criminal Mayor and the powers-that-be, the police in Chicago are few and far between when seconds truly matter; better to be able to defend yourself and call for us to clean up the aftermath. And hopefully that aftermath is the career criminal's grey matter and various bodily fluids pooling in the street.

I can't speak for every Chicago Police Officer, but every legitimate citizen carrying a pistol for protection that I've ever crossed paths with was told to "have a nice day and be careful going home".

In addition to having the power of arrest, we also have the power of discretion. So I say to you, Mr. Legitimate Citizen, take the steps necessary to protect yourself and your family. And if you ever find yourself in a position that warrants it, let the officers know (in a non-threatening/non-aggressive way) that you're armed. Any copper worth his salt in the common sense department will know the right thing to do.

Until things drastically change in favor of the non-criminal population in the shithole of a city, it's time for the masses to take their safety and well-being into their own hands.

Three animals took a baseball bat and hit him on his head and took his wallet, money and cell phone. Pure savages. The best justice is to send them to jail for a long, long, long time. I've seen the victim & his wife walkin' in the Hyde Park community/53RD St. for many years and they were always civil, courteous and polite. I pray he will rest in peace and pray for his wife and their extended family.
I also pray that I get picked to sit on the offender's jury. Justice will be served.
Just a DAMN SHAME!

I never met the man or his wife. Their life together, and for each other, was such a gift that God blessed them with for so many years. Whom God hath joined together let no one tear apart. I'm not really religious, but I think there is a very special place in hell for this killer to spend his eternity in agony and pain. I hope the Law helps him get to his future digs very very soon! I hope the Elliot family knows how awful everyone feels at their loss.

God bless Mrs. Elliot, as well as the whole family. I cannot imagine the emptiness she is feeling right now. The saddest thing is that for the rest of her life, she will have Christmas to remember for the loss of her husband.

When you hear stories like this or the women struck by the junkie in 24 it breaks your heart, although we will never admit it. This was a man who overcame an ugly period in American History and deserved to ride off into the sunset. His widow is in our prayers.

There is a video of the crime. This dog cold heartedly shot the victim in the face and chest and casually walked away as if nothing happened: all on video.

He also went thru his pockets. POS

Before he was even charged he said he was dizzy and has high blood pressure. Right over to mercy hosp where he was admitted so he could have his Christmas Dinner of roast turkey with all the trimmings, while in a nice cozzy bed. God strike me down if I am lying. He also complained to the nurse because he does not drink coffee and he wanted juice... What a joke our society has become. we are soft. he should have been sent over a bologna sandwich from the lock-up.

Because of our leader SHORTSHANKS.

The year began on a sour note for the mayor, with the city forfeiting $153 million in federal funds to create bus-rapid-transit service that would have sped the commute for thousands. Federal bureaucrats refused to grant a 13-day extension to approve one of the strings attached: congestion-reduction fees for downtown parking and deliveries.

Hey genius, Just pointing out a small fact that’s staring you in the face... WE DID OUR JOB THAT DAY!

Some bullshit parole board in Statesville came up with the idea that he was "rehabilitated" and let him go.

We did our job before Christmas Eve, too. We arrested him for the armed robbery and murder years ago, when you were still shitting in your diapers. So did the States Attorneys, he went to the joint.

It is my dream to win the MegaMillions...then to buy houses in each of the neighborhoods where the judges and ASA's live. Then let parolees and those awaiting trial for violent crime live there, free of charge. See how long that lasts!

12/26/2009 01:07:00 PM

That is a true story and the judge was Judge Saul Epton. As a youthful screwball of 17 I had to stand tall before Judge Epton once. Must have been after he was mugged because Judge Epton turned my life around that day, then and there. I was headed one way, Judge Epton turned me around to head in the opposite direction. In effect, I got a swift hard slap, just what was needed.

If he were alive I would thank him as I near the end of this police career. Thanks to Judge Saul Epton.

I wonder if the pos in 10th and Kedzie/Harrison are paying attention: Crawford and mom lived at 1447 S Spaulding, Hudson baby found dead in K town and the Lawndale Predators still running wild, taunting females in the street, IDing them as prostitutes while their serial killer stood hanging out on 16th street waiting for the ID maybe for his next victim.

When are these savages going to be stopped?

When the late Judge Saul Epton sat in Br. 43, I appeared as an (011) arresting officer 1-2 times a week.
He was always fair with an excellent judicial temperment--an outstanding jurist and a gentleman to boot.

He never dismissed any of my many cases. On one case, the public defender moved for an S.O.L. because I stopped Sammie LINZON, IR#______ in a new Cadillac with NPC. (Plates=Clear; VIN=HOT)

Judge Epton cut the lawyer a new one, noting that I arrested LINZON driving another stolen new Cadillac two weeks earlier. "Officer Northen would be remiss if he didn't stop this defendant on sight".

I have fond memories of Saul Epton.

Back in the old country, murderous scum like him would be "shot dead while trying to escape" or something similar. Or would die due to "internal injuries while resisting arrest".
