GOP Wins Massachusetts

First Obama blows the Olympic bid for Shortshanks, now he gives away Ted Kennedy's birthright?
  • In an epic upset in liberal Massachusetts, Republican Scott Brown rode a wave of voter anger to win the U.S. Senate seat held by the late Edward M. Kennedy for nearly half a century, leaving President Barack Obama's health care overhaul in doubt and marring the end of his first year in office.

  • The loss by the once-favored Democrat Martha Coakley in the Democratic stronghold was a stunning embarrassment for the White House after Obama rushed to Boston on Sunday to try to save the foundering candidate. Her defeat on Tuesday signaled big political problems for the president's party this fall when House, Senate and gubernatorial candidates are on the ballot nationwide.

Brown's victory was the third major loss for Democrats in statewide elections since Obama became president. Republicans won governors' seats in Virginia and New Jersey in November.
And Brown's victory speech? Very, dare we say, presidential?

Oops.

Anyway, expect President Obama to be facing the terror of Wasilla in 2012.

This is an AWESOME VICTORY! O'Bama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reed and the rest of the liberal scum have been ignoring America's dislike of the big government big tax agenda and now a message has been sent. The Pelosi and Reed types still wont listen, but many others will. November can't come soon enough. The majoriety of Americans do not want all this government control. Nancy Pelosi will cause many democrats to lose their seats. Keep up the good work Nancy!

Take action, people! Save this country before it's totally flushed down the shitter by the Democratic party.

Obama hasn't done shit for the college students. Not one damn dime of all the loans and programs he promised would start flowing. I hope those kids realize that when Michelle and Barack were riding with them in all the buses and listening so intently all they wanted was their vote. They were a demographic he had to tap. Nothing more.

Every college student or graduate should be screaming at the top of their lungs about the loan programs that never materialized.

On the other hand, it's a good lesson for them. They thought they knew more than older folks that have seen and heard this shit before.

All politicians should be listening!! No matter which party you are for or support or whatever. Let this outcome of this election tell all of them that they ALL need to listen to the people. For its the people that actually run this country. Maybe not so much now, more the more that we can control, the better we will be off. The government is not here to rule the people, but to direct and guide them to a better future. Not to place rules and regulation at ever turn. Let us keep our very rights that our fore fathers have given us and let us pursue that happiness. This all may be the beginning, but far from the end. We must take this country back from the very government that has become bigger and uglier at every election. Not to take over by violence, but telling this men and women that we will vote them out!! Hear our voices!!
The economy should have been the fore front of this administration and jobs should have been created to support this health care bill they say we so desperately need. To start with, all the government really needed to do was to say to the insurance companies, no more pre-existing conditions and that would be health care in itself. So, to all voters....vote these socialistic SOB's out!!

I early voted for Preckwinkle. Strikes me as the least bad of the four candidates.

Stroger is a clown.

Brown is apparently involved in another scandal involving "donations" from her employees.

O'Brien strikes me as just another Irish pol.

By default Preckwinkle got my vote.

I don't pull a GOP ballot because they are irrelevant to Cook County politics at this stage. Whoever wins the Dem primary is likely to win the general election.

Of course if Stroger or Brown win the GOP has a chance.

_________________________________

You're an idiot! Nice try though. Mass has universal heath care but it is way over budget and they see that. Brown said clearly that he was going to vote against the health care bill and the people elected him. The message is pretty clear. The people want the government to be working on the economy and unemployment right now. They do not want them raising taxes and spending outrageous amounts of money on something like health care. More importantly the people want the government to listen to them or face being thrown out of office. Both party's need to know that they answer to the people. Democrats don't suddenly vote for a Republican just because they don't like the democrat candidate. Ted Kennedy was re- elected for 30 odd years after all.

Yes, genius, it does have to do with health care, and numerous other things which I will not delve into. The people of Mass. have, as you stated, had health care. This is exactly why they don't feel that they should foot the bill for the benefits which could have been strewn upon their fellow citizens in the states of Loisianna and Nebraska. The people of these states stood to benefit from unseemly deals procured by their arrogant, 'representative' Senators. So, yes, it did have to do with health care, and to a much greater degree, the Constitutionality of with which it is cast/forced upon us...stop drinking the democratic kool-aid while you are waiting for Rachel Maddow to provide you with your next thought.

Although I believe that Brown is a bit more than a R.I.N.O, he is by no means a strong conservative vote. He iw obviously against what is going on in Congress over health care, but I believe his conceern is mostly about the apparent Democratic rush to pass a bill. Clearly he is correct in resisting a "rush to judgement," but I don't believe that he is against some kind of overhaul of the system. I believe that if any of us look carefully at the health care system, and if we forget our general "me first" outlook, it is obvious that some fixing of the system is called for, primarily among the working poor and middle class. Those employed at good income levels generally have pretty good health insurance options, the wwalthy (whatever that is) have no difficulty, and the poor are pretty well covered by Medicaid and public hospital emergency rooms. The working poor and working middle class, especiall those on a part time basis are the folks that have a tough, expensive time getting coverage, even if they can find a group to get into. They are the people that are going bankrupt or losing houses over high healt costs. The Federal Government should try to find a way to help those folks, but destroying the health insurance industry or instituting costly, universal care is not the answer. Whoever said that the election of Brown is only a start in removing the current administration and the current majority in Congress is exactly correct.

Sorry to be so long.

OBAMA....OBAMA....... CAN'T WAIT TIL THOSE CHANTS ARE GONE FOREVER..............

Those Obama t-shirts are looking a little faded about now. Where is that fat broad who worked herself up in a frenzy jumping up and down with "yes we can" on election night. That was a classic, and Jessee's tears. So much for change anyone can believe in.

All of you people who are clamoring for Republicans to rule or Democrats to obtain and expand their seats are idiots. You don't seem to get it do you? That both of them are the problem.

It's so funny every two to four years. "Damn, I am upset with Bush, Cheney and the Republicans. I will vote the Democrats in". Then it becomes "oh shoot, the Democrats are idiots, I will vote in the Republicans". Then in a few years "let's vote out the Republicans".

The only solution is to vote for independent candidates who are not part of the two party structure and have the interests of our nation at heart. Nothing less will do.

I will take a mass. "Republican" over her any day. I hope he will not step on his dick. My observation... is that he will. His behavior, and his persona; must get better. he might have been a little tipsy on his acceptance speech. But, at least he connected to middle America. All I know is the "mass" media is going to comb through his sisters underware to try to find fault.

I'll be pulling a democratic ballot so I can cast a vote against Stroger and his 10.25% sales tax. I'm not sure whether to vote for Preckwinkle or O'Brian. Any thoughts?

If you're pulling a democratic ballot, vote for Tod Stroger. He is so reprehensible that we can guarantee a republican winning the presidency of Cook County. Wouldn't that be a hoot! Ole man Daley would be spinning in his grave, as I'm sure Jack and Teddy are doing right now! God Bless MaryJo Kopechne!

Everyone on this page seems to be celebrating Brown's victory in Mass. as a Republican, which is great. How about a Republican vote for Cook County Board President > GARRIDO. For those of you that don't like him personally try reading his message at www.garrido2010.com and it doesn't take a genius to lower taxes and cut out corruption but just doing the right thing. I also would like to know why SCC will not give him a link to SCC's "Links to Right Thinking People"???? In his debate with Keats > Garrido won hands down!!! VOTE GARRIDO!!!
