Standard Corruption

  • For years, employees of Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown have complained about having to pay a couple bucks to wear jeans on Fridays.

Brown, who's seeking a promotion to County Board president, recently told the Tribune that all the money collected either goes to charities or into a fund that pays for an annual employee appreciation awards ceremony.
  • Brown has raised tens of thousands of dollars from employees for her Friends of Dorothy Brown campaign fund.

In addition, many top-level employees have helped organize annual birthday parties that double as fundraisers. Brown has accepted cash gifts and other presents from employees at those birthday parties and on Christmas — a practice she halted after the Tribune asked her about it.

[...] Such practices were the province of old-school politicians. During his federal corruption trial, testimony showed former Gov. George Ryan got thousands of dollars from employees for years as Christmas gifts. City Hall workers also were asked to voluntarily contribute to annual gifts for Mayor Richard Daley, the Tribune reported in December 2006.

So much untraceable cash. It's a wonder the feds haven't keyed on this habit here in Illinois, Cook County and Chicago. Actually, it's not a wonder, it's pathetic.

The thing that has ALWAYS annoyed the shit out of me about the Feds, is their inability to make ANYTHING happen in their investigations without it taking literally years!

And to make matters worse, they ALLOW whatever criminal activity that they are investigating, TO CONTINUE, unabated, in the hopes that they will solidify their case with tons and tons of evidence.

How many additional people do they just allow to become victimized, so that they can look good when they FINALLY DO decide to pull the trigger on a prosecution?

How many thousands of hard working people lost their life savings and tens of millions of dollars, because the Feds at the SEC ALLOWED Bernie MADOFF to go on stealing their retirement money FOR YEARS?

I'd love to see a comparison between the number of FED investigators and the FED budget for those investigators in regard to the number of criminals that they prosecute and convict VERSUS those same numbers of municipal POLICE employees and budget dollars and the number of convicted criminals they are responsible for.

The numbers would be STAGGERING in favor of the POLICE vs the FEDS

Just like IAD, the FBI is not solely there to catch others who have gone astray. They are also charged with covering up the crimes of "certain" people, and shutting down, obscuring, running interference for and creating subterfuge for members of the Daley/Burke/Madigan Crime Family and ANY investigations that may be initiated against them.

In order to prove charges of extortion, a prosecutor must be able to prove either that an illegal threat was made, or that goods or services were received in exchange for such a threat. Proving such charges can sometimes be very difficult, as people may be too intimidated to testify. In Chicago, they just off themselves.

Chicago Tonight has been having some good shows on the candidates. Brown was on two nights ago and they were all asked about cars and drivers. Brown almost upchucked trying to dance around the subject. She also denied giving/getting jobs based on politics. Then my question is why, almost immediately after she was elected, did the Clerk's office get an influx of new employees who all happen to go to Miss Brown's church? And they are all lazy bastards. Won't lift a finger. Have an excuse for everything. Typical. Anyone who needs anything from the Clerk's groans if they have to go there now, because they know it will take at least an extra half hour to forty-five minutes than it should.

Last night they had Hoffman, Giannoulias and Jackson. Jackson is NOT qualified to be a Senator that's for sure. She looked like she was going to faint everytime she was asked about foreign policy. Stammering and stalling every single time.

Here's a peek behind the curtain on how REAL corruption gets done:

The Madigan Rules
House Speaker Michael Madigan says he follows a personal code of conduct to avoid conflicts of interest. Even so, some clients of his private law firm have benefited from his public actions.

Vote to rid the system of these jagoffs.

Send 3-mails to everyone and encourage them to vote.

Michael Madigan is pushing for Dorthey Brown and he needs to be sent a message that the voters are disgusted!

And the best we have to offer from CPD is garrido?

Oh wait, he is the only one of us stupid enough to get into the crook county politics game.

he was described as a CPD Lt and a 'practicing' attorney, WTF

he 'practiced' law for 2 months before closing his office due to lack of clientele (due to arrogance and stupidity)

a vote for garrido is a vote for stupidity

D. Brown has been doing this kind of things for years. She demands that supervisory personnel sell $500.00 tickets to fundraiser's. Most employees eat the $500 by paying for the tickets themselves. They're also forced to show up at campaign events on the weekend. If they don't show up, they get demoted and transferred to another job.

The feds do not want to key in on corruption that might touch on the real players in the game. Never have. They go after a few small fish, but its rare that a big fish every sees jail time. And going after certain people might lead to people who are untouchable.

Just out of sheer spite we're actually entertaining voting for toddler just because Daley Inc. wants him gone so they can truly consolidate city/county power.

It would drive king daley crazy(-ier) for toddler to win. Be assured we have no particular fondness for toddler in the least.

Dorothy Brown, in Wednesday's candidate forum on Chicago Tonight, was tripping all over herself when this question was asked.

First, she said the money was 'just gifts' given at a birthday party. Then she said, well, the birthday party was really a political event, thrown by 'Friends of Dorothy Brown'. Then she said 'you know, they're just gifts, we're like one big happy family at my office'. Then, she said she's reported this income to the IRS, and THEY think she's all good.

When the questioning about the fee to wear blue jeans to the office began, she tapdanced through exactly the same responses.

Phil Ponce offered the others a chance to comment and they all declined, with a couple just shaking their heads in disbelief.

The woman sounded like a giddy fool.

a crook herself. Keep voting for these future defendents. We're doomed.

Not surprising that Dorothy Brown is a CPA.
