Multiple Shooting

  • At least four people were shot -- with two severely wounded -- tonight in the area of West 77th Street and South Loomis Boulevard in the Auburn Gresham community on the South Side.

One of the victims, a man in his 30s, was shot in the chest and taken in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger Hospital, said Larry Langford, a spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department. He said that victim, however, was alert at the scene.

Another victim, a man believed to be about 20, was taken to Loyola University Hospital in Maywood in serious-to-critical condition after being shot in the abdomen, Langford said.

Initial reports were up to nine people shot. Some may turn up later. But it's nights like this, on a warm March evening, that hint at a busier summer again. And multiple incidents like can throw off the whole statistical curve.

No need to worry. None of the victims were police officers or any other type of contributing members of society. They will recover in no time at all.

Beat officers should look forward with great anticipation to meeting these "victims" on a street corner near them in the not-so-distant future. Inquisitive officers conducting street stops should anticipate and ultimately learn to embrace these latest GSW recipients; they will regale the Hair Gel generation of police with tales of taxpayer-funded disability payments that have rendered their dreams and aspirations moot.

Gone will be their boundless drive towards acquiring job skills and continuing educational goals as set forth by prior familial generations.

Extinct their motivation towards self-betterment will become.

Lethargy and sedentary lifestyles will consume the majority of this latest batch of the permanently disabled, except for multiple instances of procreation.

Chronic laziness will prove a venerable foe, as it will invite a plethora of illnesses that'll ultimately consume it's (barely) human host.

And you and I?

We'll continue to deal with the nonsensical antics of the ignorant while the unappreciative lambast and ridicule the very same people that protect their life and property on a daily basis...regardless of not having a contract for nearly 3 years.

Crime is "down" because they don't want to pay for the budgeted number if police officers. Any statistic can be warped, doctored or manipulated to suit a specific purpose. Why the he'll do we need so many gold stars to lead this shell of a department? With the fewest officers in decades , why is there more brass than ever in CPD history.

I would love a thread listing Gold Stars and unit COs and their merit promotion history. What is it about not testing well that turns one into such a fine leader?

SInce the policy group has so much knowledge and can do so much, send them to 006, 011 or 004. Since analyzing the problem and deploying resources are the answer, lets do just that, lets make them one big team and lets see how many offenders they catch! Make sure his 2 Sergeants, Bill and Ray are the head of the teams. Come on Mr. I have your backs, I am putting police on the street, I am providing resources. Lets see how they do. Also, since the Commander of 018 is so great, lets not leave out 020 and 016, why don't you bring one of them over here to 006 and let us see how great they do as the Commander here. Lets see all of this crime drop and the shootings stop. This is all smoke and mirrors, this is all bullshit!

When Richie was trying for the 'Limpics, these shootings would not have been heard about.

When Richie wants to VOID the Second Amendment and it is up to SCOTUS these are the lead stories.

So always make sure NEWS AFFAIRS gets notified.

Now if you happen to talk to a reporter, as much as you don’t like them, learn how to use them to our advantage. Talk to them on the side and tell them how lack of manpower, bad equipment and low morale are contributing factors on this. Give them that and it might make the early news before Richie, Father Phony or Jesse J--- can get in front of a camera and somehow make it our fault, or the gun manufacturers fault.

Too bad that 7 year old got hurt, preventing stuff like that and catching the bad guys like that are big reasons we became cops.

Stay safe, I will be back from my furlough soon and ready to go hunting for armed men.

Consider . . .

• The Police Blotter: Sneed hears the Chicago Police Department is abuzz that allegations of "a love triangle" might have caused the "intemperate" voice mails dispatched by Chicago Police Commander Penelope Trahanas to Matthew Jackson, her former Chicago cop beau -- which led to Trahanas being charged with misdemeanor telephone harassment. (Stripped of her police powers until the case is investigated, Trahanas also was served with an emergency order of protection requested by Jackson.

As far as there being no proactive work being done and the cpd is strictly reactionary, well son every police department is reactionary. We are a paramilitary organization, not a military one.

Procative police work has many faces, it could be aggressive street stops on known gang members, parolees, sellers, etc.

It could be cruising your beat letting the idiots know you're out there, the old police presence thing.

But I do know in my short 25+ years that being in the station for 3 hours on a nickel bag/1 rock/reckless pinch only helps YOU. It has negative effect on the street, the manpower issue is magnified, the mutts are out again in 4-5 hours and the ride starts all over.

I know I know, the mutt is off the street, he's not gonna shoot anybody from lockup. The typical company answer.

Just remember one thing, on a busy night give your quest for court a rest, or your desire to make tac a breather. Think of your fellow officers on the street working the busy beats, doin the grunt work some officers feel they are above.

Because it is true, they cant shoot from lockup, but you cant back up the police from there either. Don't get me wrong, if an ***hole puts himself into lockup thats one thing. Just use discretion during the upcoming busy months. Our safety is paramount.

Sorry for the rant, just wanted to vent a little.

Now, the fact that we have all NON REAL POLICE making decisions like Jfed, Mike Masters, Beatrice Cuello, Dep. Supt. Peterson and Brust, I am sure they will be holding a big Pow Wow with all the Commanders of the affected Districts and ask them what strategies they are implementing. Come on!!! The only strategy is to hold the city agencies accountable, the Aldermen and area politicians accountable for stimulating the economy in their communities so the natives won't kill each other for "stuff" or for drug territory. These people had nothing and now have even less. The other crazies that have been arrested and can't get a job but are released into society are running rampant trying to eat. Then you have a district where you don’t have enough police to patrol effectively, you have to down 2 - 4 cars (1 man) on a heated incident and all of the fucked up districts are dealing with a shortage of manpower, supervisors and equipment, they can barely answer calls and do their job, so how the fuck are they supposed to stop a crime, solve a crime or be proactive in any regard.

Get rid of GES, TRU and the MSF Unit until CPD gets enough police to man the districts. Years ago I was a part of the first S.O.S. gang type squad. Our unit was created because we had a surplus of police in the Districts. Now the department's direction needs to change to fit true circumstances.

Though I retired years ago, things HAVE changed, but when you have the non-police making police decisions, you get meetings, pow wows, requests for more bullshit strategies and miserable police, same old shit, different day.

If you are such a great Superintendent, why don't you come up with strategies and ideas? YOU SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, not the Sgts. Lts, Capts. or Commanders. You are running this shit, run it. But no, all you do is ask for more fucking reports and strategies, and then you regurgitate the information, stick your chest out and say, I am doing a great job and if I was not, I would step down! LIAR!!!!! You should have never been appointed!

OT:
NBC 5 reported on the father and son hit by the truck on Ashland at 18th today. The reporter stated that she tried to contact Alderthief Solis at his office regarding the dangerous intersection, surprise! there was no answer.

I thought the alderthieves were there for the people 24/7, 365. Da mare has said as much many times. I guess they don't earn enough or have a large enough office slush fund.

from the posted article:

"The manner in which the officer and subject interacted was unacceptable," Police Superintendent Jody Weis said in a statement. "Officers are trained and expected to deal with these situations in a professional manner, free of unnecessary sarcasm."

you heard it from the horse's ass's mouth, stop messing with the bangers. According to the 'boss', the bangers deserve to be treated with respect and professional courtesy. And absolutely no sense of humor.

yeah, that's gonna really have a huge impact on this summer's blood letting.

way ta go, 'boss'.

Flash- Rev. Ira Acree interviewed by Channel 7 News just now about the 15 people shot in last 24 hours. Ya just can't keep Ira down.

Grand/Austin was s**t St. Patrick's & night before, bad crowds at banquet hall needing multiple cars to get their ass out of the street at closing time...surprised no one pulled a "Joo poosh my seester!" killing...

Will we reclaim the title of Murder Capitol of America this year?

When citizens shoot back at these assclowns with our "illegal" guns in our homes, will we be held accountable? Either you station a cop to my house a la Daley, or you let me defend myself and my family.

I hope SCOTUS gives 'em hell!

A total of 18 shootings on 18MAR10. 016 just had a homicide at Irving and Central. Come on 016, the hispanic bangers have been taking over that area for a while now. Now they are shooting where we live? If you are too scared or lazy to do anything please please make room for a police officer who will actually do their job.

Dear Jodi Weiss,

I have two complaints with you this week.

1. Regarding the WGN video and your statement about sarcasm; you remember the one at 25/alb where you were quick to tell the media that we are not supposed to use unnecessary sarcasm.

OBVIOUSLY you were never never ever never the police because you would know that we use sarcasm as a tool. Sarcasm keeps us going. Sarcasm is what we do. You don't know this because you're an imposter in a costume, but that is what we do. The Chicago Police Officer, every single one of us, uses his or her (sometimes) off kilter humor to go home and sleep at night. We see the worst of the worst and have developed a deflection method. I hope you one day do the same.

Oh and ignoring the rants and raves on this blog doesn't make you thick-skinned.

2. Why on the world are you letting the tact teams be removed from 016, burglary heaven, and sending them to A/5??

Did you ever think that maybe your "coworkers" (haha) might need some service in the district where many of us live and there are multiple burglaries weekly, if not daily?

I'll be waiting with baited breath for a reply.

Stop supporting the left wing of the Democratic Party the people that supported FALN, Black Panthers, SDS. No gang or tact teams were assigned to 25 tonight they were assigned to the ghetto as Jodie says quality of life issues are not important just the violence issues. So it's not important until the bangers that are tearing up your neighborhood start killing people, there sure is alot of logic in that stupi statement.

7:27 pm AMEN! There are quite a few quality bosses out there that should be Commanders--I think JFed should ask PO's and Sgts. who we think would make great Commanders--obviously whoever is giving him advise on who to pick is not very competent! Lt. Evans would be an incredible boss--He doesn't put up with anyone's shit and if your a hardworking, ethical, officer he will always have your back! I know this personally, from the time I had Commander Doty on my tail for doing 'XYZ' and Lt. Evans stood up for me and told Doty he allowed me to do 'xyz' I would vote for Lt. Evans!

3/19/2010 06:25:00 PM

Read it again superintendent. Are you starting to catch on?

Anytime you want, come on down and join the fun. Unfortunately, 016 is a vey low priority and the tac and gang teams are reassigned to higher crime areas. 016 is lucky to have the beat cars up on the third and first watch. Not to complain, but the district is huge and the few officers are answering calls from 4800 west to 7200 west. Same problem that 008 has. I am not complaining but the lack of officers has limited tha ability to be proactive.

To the PSP Call of Duty guy. I have PSP and play MLB 08 the Show. I am the Yankees and ended in first place by 19 games. It took me two years to play the whole season. But I played every pitch. I signed Sammy Sosa as a free agent and traded Kyle Farnsworth to the Orioles for Jeremy Guthrie.

Now MMA is coming out on PSP in May. I will be the Chris "the crippler" Leben character and take him through the whole story line.

Kudos to the shooter. Instead of firing wildly into a crowd from too far a distane, with a hail of bullets and hitting innocents. He walked in close, id'd his target and did it, with accuracy and no collateral damage.

Who cares how many link card carrying, gang banging, former crack babies gets killed? It's a two for one sale! one dead and hopefully one going to the pokey.

Here is what will happen. A seat belt enforcement mission somewhere in 023 or 001. Another dumb ass POD mission.

We are in for a long Summer at this rate but all the media cares about is a bit of sarcasm during a traffic stop. Towards a shithead who might be the next shooter.

So boys and girls, grab the keys to that piece of shit, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang of a squad car, get your chirping radios and prepare for action!

P.S. Stop making reference to Tet. This Department does not have the balls or leadership to do what's needed to combat these shootings. A lot of brave Men died during the Tet Offensive. Not one Police officer should be harmed in the name of these animals, let them purge themselves.
