Operation Protect Youth

The latest incarnation of "Back to the Street" or "Closed Market" or whatever. Supposedly, everyone working inside has to do one week a quarter on the outside.

So why is it that certain members of the "Policy Group" are attempting to use letters with a signature stamp to get out of service dates? And why do they show up without duty belts when reporting for their street time? And having that pancake holster positioned like that - that's not very "tactical," is it?

Maybe Orwell had it right - some animals are more equal than others.

The watch commanders should send those folks home w/o pay for appearing for work without the proper equipment. A big problem in the districts now, no one wants to look at the troops and correct these blatant uniform deficiencies.
lots of money being paid to the Capts. today, why do they seem to have such a hard time doing their jobs? Since the Inspectors hold the Sgts. accountable for this stuff, maybe this 'accountability' should go up the chain as well?

Because they are J-Fed's girls. And that's what they will be known for the rest of their careers! They too, fall into the "different rules for different folks" group. This policey group brags about how they make important department decisions even though they have only worked the streets for a brief period of time. Someday they will be back in patrol just like the rest of us(if J-fed doesn't merit promote them)and be saying, Hey guys I'm a street cop just like you."

There are fine officers working in the policy group. Its true that that have less than five years on the job, some with about 3 years or 4 years but that doesn't mean anything. Its karen bartuck, bridgette hurlehey or herlehey or something lik that, bret goldstein, dave mcguire and a couple other guys I don't know their names.

They are to busy with the Women's Tactical Ass on City time to worry about OPY. This is what when you get a Chief that knows nothing and a Sgt who has been asked to leave HBT, the Academy and thrown out of his internship at City Hall for being a stroke. But at least he met Nasters at the Hall and now the 2 strokes think they are in charge. Ray will be gone by November, he can't help breaking the rules and all the shit his pulling is about to come to light

It is really really sad that the Superintendent has continually allowed his staff to not participate in details as these. They also get a pass for the summer details. How dare he do things as this and then say he is trying to support everyone on the department, be fair, hold everyone accountable, deploy all inside people to support street leve personnel etc. His statements are always BULLSHIT!! They apply to everyone except him and his slelect people!

maybe the capts look the other way re: uniform standards because: 1) the temp help they get every so often from 35th St. are useless, probably not going to generate arrest activity, and are guaranteed to go back where they came from, so why bother? 2) they know if they push too hard, they might get a beef from some nutcake: "you're picking on me (for my hair, nails, etc.), because I'm (fill in the blank); 3) maybe they've come to the conclusion that the entire dept. is so politically corrupt, professionally incompetent, and morally and ethically bankrupt (in terms of hiring, promotions, assignments, equipment, command promotions), that doing stand-up inspections for uniforms would be the practical equivalent of gathering ice buckets on the deck of the Titanic as it steered toward the iceberg, then proudly proclaiming that ice will be served with every drink, while the band plays...

we have no balls watch commanders who are afraid of thier own shadow and wouldn't dare send someone home for no being in proper uniform, if they did it a few times they would see a change, then the word would get out that such and such is an Asshole so you better have your stuff, I would rather be called names behind my back then have pathetic looking coppers on the street, the ones that come to work with one dump pouch or one extra clip will learn to kiss the ground if they ever get into a firefight and run out of bullets.Lets grow up boys and girls and accept your responsibilty, and to all of you WHITE SHIRTS, stop buying under wear with no balls in them.

What pisses me off is that I could not get into the fucking building. Where were all of these fucking cameras watching our cars and the savages when I worked in 007 last year? Why would you not have a touch pad like every other place, why have a fucking key card. We have to bang on the fucking door until someone lets us in. That is fucking ridiculous, or they have to have a $60,000.00 P.O. stand at the door. What were you thinking Commander Stupid Ryan? Now that is city money going to bad use.

Why did they spend thousands to install cameras all around the place and a security key card system but they cannot get us descent cars? You had the same amount of officers working there as the old 007th District. They did not have any of that shit.

Also, why can't we use the copy machine? Did TRU buy the fucking machine? How stupid is that? We are the police; we work out of that building but can't use the copier! We also can't park in the lots, though it is plenty of space. We have to park on the street with the savages and hope like hell they don't break into our cars.

Thanks Jodi Weis, Dan Dugan (for authorizing this bullshit) Steve Georges and the biggest idiot of them all who was never the police and was the Commander of fucking 001, Kevin Ryan. Now he runs an elite unit targeting high crime areas. On WHAT fucking experience?

There is a cadet assigned to the policy group. Go to any speaker series and you will see this spry chap. Rumor has it that the policy group belittles him about not being the police. Talk about irony! This kid knows more about being the police than the policy group ever will. Can we merit promote him to recruit?

I am outraged that the policy group receives honorable mentions on a regular basis for putting together the speaker series. I've made numerous felony pinches throughout my career without even getting a "that a boy". The policy group should be embarassed to accept such accolades. A wise wagon man explained to me in my formative years that all those awards and commendations mean nothing unless you get more pay, and we don't. We have more five star general than the armed forces.

Lt. Serb is an idiot. Funny thing is that every time I have worked it and I work it a lot, he deploys into areas that we don;t need to be. Even the Watch Commanders think he is an idiot. Perfectly sorry use of good man power. Then he threatens us to do a seat belt mission. Where the fuck did he work, 016? We don't give a damn about doing a seat belt mission. As if the policy group isn't reaping the benefits already; they will soon be on the 4 and 2 schedule. So, this means they will work even less time and not show up on the weekends when scheduled to work.

How can I become part of the policy group? I have no T & A, but a good personality that should count, right?

Hey Sonny-Boy-I'm one of those pathetic looking coppers who still carry one dump pouch. Have been for over 26 years. Been in two shootings-1 shot fired in each. No need to kiss the ground. 2 Bad guys to Jail via the Hospital. GFY. Quit watching so many TV Cop Shows.

I've worked with a lot of these "pathetic" coppers, and let me tell you Cakeboy!.. they have balls the size of cantaloupes!
Anyone still authorized to have a dump pouch has obviously been around for a while??? and are not afraid to work the ghetto with the bare necessities. And another thing... we don't have "clips" those were used in M-1 Garands, which I am sure you have no idea of? We now have MAGAZINES. Not to be confused with the comic books you read and fantasize about FIREFIGHTS? are you kidding me? When was the last time the CPD was involved in a FIREFIGHT?
You can fill your utility belt with all the useless shark repellent, hair gel, telescoping batons, binoculars and tasers, I'll take my chances with that veteran "Pathetic looking" copper who actually has been in a FIREFIGHT.
I'm all for a neat appearance, but don't knock a guy for carrying a dump pouch or one magazine, just how many rounds do you think are fired in an average police shooting?
