Yet Another Police Shooting

  • Charges have been filed after a police involved shooting Wednesday in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Near Southwest Side -- the sixth police involved shooting since Sunday -- in an incident that sent three Chicago Police officers to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.

  • Officers tried to stop the vehicle at 3146 W. 15th Pl. when Dorado allegedly used the SUV to hit and injure three police officers and also hit three police vehicles and a light pole -- before fleeing at a high rate of speed, the report said.

After Dorado allegedly struck them with the SUV police fired at least one shot but did not hit Dorado, police said.

The officers involved should be OK. But six shootings in five days is a bit disturbing. Watch yourselves and watch out for each other.

Gonna do the math and make educated inferences based off of what's presented here:

3 counts of Aggravated Battery to P.O.
+
4 counts of Damage To City Property
+
Multiple traffic violations
=
Here illegally, more than likely unlicensed and uninsured and destined for the border upon posting what will be a ridiculously low bond set by one of Crook County's finest judiciary specimens.

Hey, if the new, upcoming Special Employment can basically be profiling, can't I speculate here?

Let the critical bashing retorts commence...

Funny quotes from our Aldermen.

Chicago aldermen are considered peace officers and can carry a gun, but they can't write tickets. Smith said she contacts the police when she sees parking violations.

"We carry a badge. We're sworn officers. But I never wanted that power. I'm a creator of tools for enforcement. I am not the hands-on enforcer," Smith said.

Can You Believe this:

Resisting Arrest: Not A Crime
Written by Dennis Slocumb
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office in the Portland, Oregon area recently sent out a memo regarding a resisting case (State v. Oliphant) and its decision's effect on Oregon law enforcement. In essence, the ruling says: an arrestee may defend himself against a police officer's use or imminent use of force if the arrestee believes, as much as a reasonable person in his position would believe, that the officer's use or imminent use of force exceeds the force reasonably necessary to make the arrest.
Oregon effectively is now the only state that gives a suspect charged with Resisting Arrest (ORS 162.315) an affirmative defense that they were defending themselves against what they reasonably believed was an actual or imminent unlawful use of force by a police officer.

Accompanying charges including Assault on a Public Safety Officer will likely be dismissed if the argument stands.

Coming to every liberal state including Illinois.

There is a rumor going around in regards to pension. Supposedly new hires at the Academy have been told to sign a form stating that they are have knowledge that they are currently being enrolled in the pension system for the police department. It also states in the letter that there is NO GUARENTEE that they will retire in with the pension system. That at some time in their employment they may be switched to a 401k type plan.

Does anyone in the Academy or anyone else, even recent hires have any knowledge of this form? Has any officer in the last few years remember having to sign this form?

I know from years back when I went through they jam a shit load of paper pass you to sign the first couple of days. Just wondering if any of the new guys remember signing something like this or if the academy staff can shine some light on it?

Bill would give vouchers to kids in worst CPS schools
March 25, 2010 6:31 PM | 3 Comments | UPDATED STORY
The Illinois Senate today approved legislation creating a small-scale voucher program that would provide money for 22,000 students at the worst-performing Chicago Public Schools to attend private schools.
The students would get a voucher equivalent to the minimum amount of money the state requires districts to spend on each child. The vouchers would be part of a test program and could be used toward expenses at any private school in Chicago that is willing to participate.
The legislation, sponsored by Sen. James Meeks, D-Chicago, passed 33-20 with three present votes.
Sen. Mike Jacobs, D-East Moline, argued the bill doesn't go far enough to correct the root problems in education.
"Maybe the problem starts at home," Jacobs said. "Are there vouchers so that we can replace the parents who aren't doing a good job?"
The House now will consider the legislation. The voucher issue long has simmered in Illinois, with teachers unions opposed to the idea, saying it strips struggling public schools of resources

So they are saying to all working people, bust your ass off so you can save money to send your kids to a private school while we take your tax dollars to send some fucked up shit head to the same school your kids does and sit next to them for free.

Maybe they should fix their own dam problem with these schools.

Had a beat meeting today on 26mar10. We were told before the meeting that if anyone asks about our commander that we are to say that she is on furlo. Well some people did ask where is the commander and why didn't she come to the beat meeting today. It was funny watching the "caps officer" tell these people with a straight face that penny is on furlo. And when they started talking about the story about her in the paper, the "caps officer" just kept saying that none of it is true and that she is just on furlo. I just sat there rolling my eyes laughing to myself.

Just a reminder people, clean your guns!

Got a couple of guns from a friend who was scrupulous about keeping himself, his home and his car clean. Both guns were autos. One had a round in the magazine that would not feed. If he needed it the gun would not have fired after the first round. The other one was used more often and the barrel was clean but after field stripping it I found it was filthy. He had apparently never taken the grips off and there were dust bunnies throughout the frame and springs.

Please be safe.

Anonymous Good News For Resigned FTO'S said...

Off Topic but found this posted on the FOP website today. If you were an fto get ready for one hell of a retro check if it goes throught! I know several ftos who resigned instead of taking the transfer. Looks like they will be getting a nice retro with 7% interest on top of it... good, make daley bleed!

In September 2008, the Department changed the Training Districts and required all FTOs assigned to other districts to either, transfer to the new Training Districts, or resign their FTO position and give up the D2 pay.

The Lodge filed an Unfair Labor Practice Charge with the Illinois Labor Board. The Board conducted a hearing and today, March 26, 2010, the Administrative Law Judge issued an order requiring the Department to rescind all the changes made in the FTO program.

This means the new Training Districts go back to the old Training Districts. The forced reassignments and resignations are rescinded and the Department must pay those FTOs who resigned back pay with 7% interest on the D2 pay they lost.

The City has 30 days to appeal, and we fully expect they will. We will notify the membership as soon as we hear more.

State Senate OKs school vouchers
Measure billed as way out of underperforming classrooms

SPRINGFIELD -- Parents with students in the lowest-performing elementary schools in Chicago could obtain vouchers to move their children into better-performing private schools under a plan that passed the Illinois Senate on Thursday.

The legislation would allow parents of students in kindergarten through eighth grade to obtain vouchers from the State Board of Education, which then could be used to cover tuition at parochial schools.

The value of the voucher could reach $6,119, which is the average state expenditure per pupil, but could not exceed the actual cost of tuition at an elementary parochial school, which now averages $3,234

CFD beat CPD 7-4 at the U.C.

The real kicker was that I sat (with my kid) in front of a fireman who kept stating how the police are crooks and corrupt and how "everyone would love to beat up a policeman".

This F@#$ing jag off fireman showed no class and would not keep his mouth shut. If I wasn't woried that the department would send me to jail I would have knocked his 70's porn fag moustache off his face.

I was sitting among several CFD fans who were just enjoying the game and I took my good natured ribbing from them but once again one tool in the bunch.

One thing that Cops and citizens both overlook is magazine springs. When the spring is crunched down for years at a time, at some point the darn thing needs replacing ! When you qualify and the slide fails to lock back when the magazine is empty, that is what Detectives call a clue ! If you are too lazy to strip it down and change the spring, simply replace the magazine.
