Can anyone find this quote? It's just too stupid to be believed:

As someone else pointed out, it's taken almost directly out of an old Hill Street Blues episode and it wouldn't surprise us in the least that this is where J-Fled gets his police "ideas." We've been around for a few years. We've known some old time cops. Some of us were raised in police families here, and not one of us can recall any war stories where a Chicago Police Officer would go to a gang leaders and tell them to "knock it off."
We can recall more than a few stories about Officers going to gang leaders and slapping the shit out of them for being jagoffs. But as a rule, it's unsound policy to have the Department meeting with gang leaders in an official capacity. It's lends the gangs credibility and legitimacy.
Has it happened? Maybe in one-on-one situations over certain crimes that crossed gang boundaries and information was sought or offered. But to make a statement even implying the Department sent emissaries in an official capacity to negotiate with people who bring so much pain, misery, crime and disorder to Chicago? It boggles the mind.

Read between the lines on this. I understand where our boss is coming from. In the old days, you were able to go up to a gang leader and say knock it off. It was called reading them the riot act. And it's because they knew about what the cops could do in the old days. The gangs knew how much pressure can be put on them by cops targeting their turf. And the cops that did search warrants were the most feared mf'ers out there. In fact, the cops that do the search warrants these days are still feared among the gangs. Search warrants cause a disruption of the gangs business and creates a paranoid state of mind for the bangers. The bangers would always wonder who snitched? Who knew about us? There are some bosses these days that rather would flood the hot spots with the real police and try to do police work that way. But doing a search warrant is the most effective way to get back at the bangers. It is a genuine tool that packs a punch. And it gives the police a greater sense of purpose that something is being done, thus motivating the troops. The real police can and do write and execute search warrants. It's too bad some bosses don't get the concept. Theres's nothing like the feeling of the people on the block clapping for the cops who did a search warrant on " that problem " house on their block as you're bringing out some arrestees and the contraband and weapons.
Just a thought...since Alderthieves have to be notified regarding murders in their hoods why not pass out their home address to all concerned witnesses and other assorted rats on the scene? That way they can all go to the Alderthieve's homes and have a meaningful dialogue./

Well... when I was a rookie ( still on the job from the 70's) that sort of did happen.

Because they FEARED US.
We were a force, of 13,000, 24-7-365 everywhere you looked we were there. We were S.O.S., Public Housing and Summer Mobile Force, but mostly we were the District Police like the Duce, Fillmore, Marquette and carried a lot of pride.
We all carried two guns, revolvers, many had Colt 1911's and Kel-lites.
There few cameras to worry about and a more lot more justice.
But we had police in command, not a pussy from the FBI and his henchmen. We had Cops like Commander Joe McCarthy running the show and when a group of gang hierarchy came to his office to complain he locked them all up. J-Fled would call them community activists and hold a news conference.

Back in the 80's the Tact Lt in 014, Eddie Kijowski (God rest his Soul), knew just about every gang banger and shot caller in the district. When something happened he'd go to them and tell them to give the guy up or they were going to suffer "a whole lotta pain". He'd get results. That statement meant a LOT in those days of wood nightsticks and blackjacks.

I remember hearing stories about the police gangs the "insane fish" and the "insane dumptrucks" - I also remember hearing that the gang sign for the dumptrucks took about 30 seconds to actually complete - you had to sort of tilt your forearm outward and slowly lift it to vertical - all the while making the low-pitched sound of a dumptruck dumping it's load ... it was probably just an inside joke between a handful of guys, but I found it pretty funny.

This morning a 50 something solid citizen was stabbed and is in critical at NMH due to another scumbag attack. The lowlifes are crawling out from under their rocks and instead of killing each other they are increasing their attacks on citizens in gentrified areas of the city. This city is becoming Detroit. Soon, people will be leaving in droves due to the unabated crime, the high taxes, and the corrupt politics. All that will be left is a fetid landscape strewn with broken wine bottles, rib bones, empty flaming cheetos bags and flattened orange pop cans. Magnificent Mile Stabbing
A man is in critical condition Saturday morning after he was stabbed on the Chicago Riverwalk downtown -- possibly while jogging.
The man was stabbed about 5:50 a.m. on the Chicago Riverwalk about 50 feet east of North Michigan Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli, citing preliminary information.
The man, in his early- to mid-50s, may have been jogging along the patch when he was attacked, Mirabelli said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said.
The stabbing happened just west of the Hyatt Regency Chicago at 151 E. Wacker Dr.
Police learned of the attack when someone called 911, Mirabelli said.
Belmont Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody Saturday morning.

You shouldn't be surprised by J-fled's statement. I wrote in February 2007 (when he was approved by Daley and the City Council) that Jody was a member of the same organization that dropped the ball (so many times!) in its proactive efforts to deter and prevent terrorist acts on 9/11: The F.B.I.
The disconnect (which will never be "connected") between J-fled's leadership and the C.P.D. subordinate is because he is not a career service sworn Chicago police officer. He will never have the grasp of leadership that Phil Cline, Terry Hillard, et. al. did have with their subordinates.
And the other fracture in the leadership bond (especially with exempt members) is that Jody was able to pull off the salary demand that no exempt member could accomplish. Hell, even an aldercreature couldn't pull that one off: It probably pissed-off them, too!

This is a sad story. You live in the past when we had real bosses and leaders. Now who is willing to take a risk and possible make a mistake? The feds will burn you in a second. No one to support the troops. Reality sucks today and we have no one to lead us. Gangs are strong and gaining strength. "gotta run" is not the answer. Sound bites and photo ops are the focus. Now we are forming another special unit, stripping patrol to bare minimum. You worry about search warrants when we have no one to respond to a service call. Wake up and deal with reality.

When they get back they will be enlisting the services of the Womens Tactical Association to form a new unit called the New Intervention Tactical Womens Interdiction Team (NITWIT). NITWIT's sole purpose will be to meet for dinner every Friday night (on OT of course) and discuss how to make the city a safer place without actually having to do anything. It is rumored that the first line of business will be to schedule a speaker series for gangbangers with topics such as "Shooting to kill your actual target" and "Kids as shields - they're more than just a welfare check" and my personal favorite "Coping with the stress of being a gangbanger". After dinner, they will do a Charlie's Angels type intercom call with Masters of the Universe who will relate exactly where the next murder will occur based on the newest computer models. They will then proceed immediately to that location, and when no murder happens because it is all bullshit, they will claim their mission accomplished and everyone will go out for ice cream and tell each other how great they are.

The reason why the media isn't giving out a description because it only describes the race of the offender and that is all. It's sort of like reporting "police are looking for a male white who attempted to abduct a seven year old girl on 6200 North Western Avenue" or "police are looking for a male black who robbed two women on Damen and North Avenue last night".
The media will report about the identity of the suspects if there is an adequate description or a sketch.

What do you think this is, some kind of Keystone Cops outfit?
I recall a quote from an old timer as a group of officers searched a railroad yard at night for a shooting suspect, it was along the kennedy in 014 near the old Budweiser building and there were officers there from several districts and units, (014, gangs etc) "If anyone thinks the Keystone Cops don't still exist they ought to see this outfit."
No one would tell anyone else what was going on, description, direction of flight etc. Everyone was keeping quiet in hopes of making an arrest. Then we heard the dogs were there over the radio and my partner and I beat it back to the squad car. Nice big CPD German Shepherd found him and took a bite for his troubles.
Maybe he was referring to the Duracell battery on his shoulder.

OT: Two State Reps are requesting the National Guard and quote mortality rates for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, saying they are just about the same. Fat chance of this one happening, though it would be kind of fun to watch.
Can't you just see the neighborhood politcios when some morning the news says - This morning, a young man brandished a gun and pointed it at a uniformed soldier who, along with three other soldiers, fired sixty-five or so rounds into the young man with assault rifles...all of which hit their target.

Well played tie-in with Lord Tennyson's "Charge of The Light Brigade" and 42 extra-short's resolute pissing away of $60 million on feel-good bullshit to chaperon the CPS Zoo inmates rather than hiring 600 badly needed Zoo Keepers.
We love to see the "heads-up play" on this blog because it give lie to the feverishly held notion by the majority of citizens that Chicago Police Officers are essentially armed and trained lower order primates performing the "simple" task of Policing, for they're "obscenely overcompensated for..."
...If one were to believe the constant "curious intoxicating odours and enchanting narcotic musicks" spewing from the anus of the Daley Inc. media spin and propaganda organism.

Thanks BCP, nothing is new under the sun, this has all been done before.
It is fun watching it all implode here. Wouldn't surprise me for rahm to jump in if daley senses his time here is short. That little "I'd like to be mayor of Chicago someday" speech by emmanuel was a trial balloon and warning, don't anyone think otherwise.
The path has been laid should it become necessary for a new shepherd of the regular democratic criminal machine to step forward. rahm was telling every other potential candidate to watch out and be prepared to be spending more time with their family during the mayoral election season.
Now if only David Hoffman could come up with around $8 million bucks; it would take at least to mount a credible challenge.
Then, even if Hoffman were elected, he would have to deal with an army of daley loyalists, roughly equivalent to the Ba'ath Party in Iraq, all potential insurgents bent on torpedoing any new mayor not spawned by daley or his minions.
