Everyone in Uniform
The "Smoke and Mirror" Tour begins in earnest 29 April as the order came down for all Tact and Gang personnel to be in uniform until further notice.
We've heard the 100 person Summer Strike Force or whatever it's called is only taking one officer per district? The remainder of the personnel will be stripped from MSF and TRU, the detail lasts 90 days, and you get zero weekends off the entire summer?
This sounds like a well thought out plan that was carefully considered and crafted after numerous meetings, planning sessions and maybe even a study or two, rather than reeking of desperation and a sense of hopelessness as it finally comes to the attention of everyone involved that we have no manpower to speak of and aren't about to have any anytime soon.
Strap in boys and girls, it's going to be a crazy summer.

mass transit? these guys generate an event number for taking a train ride with their radios off. this should be funny! i am sure that the airport guys will pick up the slack.
So how do these officers get chosen? They can't pull you from your assigned district and force you to work elsewhere can they? Do you still report for roll call in your assigned district and then go somewhere else? Help me out here.

This is GREAT news! I'm on tact and we have no problem wearing the uniform. It just means we don't have to play the "heads game" as much, giving the bosses their silly stats. No more surveillance, SW's, secret squirl missions, riding around in covert cars, etc, etc. We are only the visibility police and that's just fine. We have no problem playing their "smoke and mirrors" game. I've been on the job for nearly 15 years and have never seen things so silly as they are now. What a DUMB department!!

With the exception of just a few units listed, every one is a place that pretty much requires a phone call to get to. Therefore, the suckasses in those respective units have no choice but to bend over and take it in the balloon-knot dry, or run the risk of making waves and getting bounced from their hiding spots.
Only problem is that a lot of less-than-5 y.o.j., never-been-the-police and career-long house mice are going to be thrown into shit they've never seen or haven't seen for a long time...if their clout doesn't make that magic, last minute phone call to save their pathetic asses.
And any chump that volunteers for this should be beaten mercilessly.

Let me correct you on some misinformation. There is no special summer force. You have the manpower numbers correct however, 50 will be detailed to TRU and 50 to MSF. These people will work 10 hour days and have days off per their assigned DOG. A notice came out yesterday morning requesting sergeants for this detail and it is spelled out that they will be detailed to either MSF or TRU.

Interesting that you state the academy is empty? Other than 150 recruits, the academy is empty. Patrol should cancel all inservice classes then the academy could spare 5 bodies. Maybe they could use the recruits for the summer? Light and limited duty PO's might have to actually work to make up for this detail.

Why, there is even an officer whose main job is to decorate various bulletin boards in the district!!! Typically by volunteers and then reverse seniority if there are no volunteers. And I'm sure you would go somewhre else. They'll let you know where to report.

You cannot take airport personnel. They are paid from the aviation budget. They also cannot take any officer recognized (listed) as school or CHA officers because they are paid from non-police coffers.

In response to 7-15years and being sent to the safe summer mission from airport north. Call your chinamen who sent you to the airport. If you didn't have one it would have taken you 20 plus years to BID there. When you return in the fall ,you will have earned some respect from the old timers and you will understand why we have the BID process.Stay safe young man!

The Summer unit will not have cars! It will be 10 hour foot patrol with 1/2 hour for lunch. Ha ha you say? It's completely true. There are no cars for this deployment and they can't pull cars from districts because they they do not want to admit that there are no officers working in the districts.
Bus Sergeants will drop off and pick up just like CHA special employment.

u must be one of the crybabies in mass transit . They posted wneh the test was for tsa bomb dogs(unit704)so either u were toooo stupid to take it or didn t want the job. And u have to go for the 2 mnth training in texas before u get a dog. If u look on the sheets u will see 6 names on 2nd wtch and 4 on 3rd so there are dogs on the street. what is it with u guys that think people at the airports aren t the real police.Most of the guys have over 25 yrs which means they were the police when 14th dist was the wild west not the yuppie hood that it is now.Even 24 was busy back in the day when howard st. was a piss hole. In response to 7-15years and being sent to the safe summer mission from airport north. Call your chinamen who sent you to the airport. If you didn't have one it would have taken you 20 plus years to BID there. When you return in the fall ,you will have earned some respect from the old timers and you will understand why we have the BID process.Stay safe young man!
You will never see anyone from the airport go. Not with Mauer blasting the security out there. The airlines pay for the police and DOA officers. The powers that be just screwed up again. They will recind it.
If you pass frozen Kool-Aid around to all the 300,000 gang members in the city, they will take a long time to drink it. It will cause brain freeze and make them think it is cold out. In conclusion, crime will return to winter stats ang gang activity will be interupted. I have noticed that every time slurpees are on sale there are zero homicides.
They should take the big mirrored bean and have smoke come out around it. That would be sooooooo confusing. They can put the same bright flashing lights from the red light cameras around it. Dude that would cause so many pee tests we would be short of manpower.
Most of the guys and girls at the airport don't have 25 years , but a phone call. Thats what it took to get out there and it got so bad that at one time there were no bids , but all phone calls that the FOP had to go to arbitration to get the city to agree to the 50-50 bid/20% that is currently in affect As a matter of fact the guy that worked for the Homeless as a Dept Director that was on leave from the CPD was out there with Acosta when he had like two years on

1st of all there were a bunch of 25 plus ofc.but most have retired in the last 4 yrs and since the city has not replaced them with openings the unit is a lil younger and also short about 70 coppers.
AND HOW DOES 50/50 HELP when in 80/20 the 20% is management not bid position.So in affect the city gets more phone call people to put in the airport. I m sure the FOP didn t want that to happen. Ur not going to have any major openings until the city begins to hire , fill the dist. so then they could have openings for units.Mass transit had openings last yr in which it took over 20 yrs to get in on the bid and 11 came over from dist.

The academy only gives up 5 coppers? There's no one in the academy. They can spear at least 10.
WHAT DO YOU KNOW YOU IDIOT.. WE HAVE 145 CPD RECRUITS AND DOZEN METROS, AND HAVE INSERVICE TRAINING FOR OFFICERS.. AND ONLY ABOUT 15 INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF TO COVER CLASSESS OTHER THAN RANGE AND PT... TAKE AWAY 3 OR 4 FOR FURLOUGHS AND OPY DEPLOYMENT AT THAT ONLY LEAVES BETWEEN 10-12 PEOPLE TO COVER CLASSES/SCENERIO BASED TRAINING... KNOW THE FACTS BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH
