Much Ado

We've seen a bunch of articles about the son of Senate President John Cullerton being arrested for DUI in a state leased vehicle.

Why no articles about the Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Homeless Services who was busted for the very same thing in a city rented vehicle?

One of them works directly for Daley, right?

First off, it is a state OWNED vehicle. Secondly, this would be his 3rd DUI. What happenened with his first 2 DUI cases? How did those just disappear?

Imagine if a policeman had a take-home squad car, then his son went out and got a DUI while driving the take-home car.

John Cullerton attempts to win parole for cop-killers such as Joseph Bigsby, who murdered Chicago Police Officer Edward Barron in cold blood in 1973. Cullerton attended the parole board hearing on Bigsby's behalf in 2008, but was denied parole.

I can't believe you are defending this guy.

It seems to me there's a very lucrative business in the horizon of reporting the real news and scams of the corrupted city of Chicago! We could b e our very own news reporting cybernews business for the taking. Since no one out there is reporting or doing any deep investigative reporting. yes I know, I had one too many, I'm just fantizinsing!!

I'm not sure if you are talking about James L. but that guy is a joke. He is arrogant and talks a big show when he is useless and overrated. And that is why he gets along so well with his buddy Ron H. who has personally hooked him up with every position he's had with the city. James was hired by CPD in or around 1999 in his twenties and after a few years (UNDER 6 years) he was assigned to Unit 050 on days and was the Commander's personal secretary. Yet claims he didn't know anyone to get this position. Yeah...Okay!!! Then when the Unit 050 Commander got in some trouble James mysteriously landed working as a civilian in OEC under guess who? Ron. Now James currently makes MORE than $125,000 as a civilian deputy director of some silly city department. Must be nice being in your 30's making more than a veteran police captain dispensing hot dogs to homeless people.

It seems to me a that this kind of news regarding a IL senator should take or be higher presedance in the Media! Yet it's not been video played every hour on the hour like if it had been a P.O. involved! These "reporters" think they are reporting the news but my question is why not treat this story like if it had been the son or family member of J-FLED! A reasonable person sees/hears the lies regarding the letting the son drive the vehicle n the son fucking up by drinking n driving end of story. the senator F---ked up! Don't let him cover up or intervene on the son's behalf! just the same way it would play out with a P.O. right?

hello asshat

First off, it is a state OWNED vehicle. Secondly, this would be his 3rd DUI. What happenened with his first 2 DUI cases? How did those just disappear?

we have no idea, why don't you ask the judges, state's attorneys and the politicians who look out for people like that?

Imagine if a policeman had a take-home squad car, then his son went out and got a DUI while driving the take-home car.

we don't have to imagine it. we know exactly what would happen. so do you. but this doesn't seem to be happening here for some reason.

John Cullerton attempts to win parole for cop-killers such as Joseph Bigsby, who murdered Chicago Police Officer Edward Barron in cold blood in 1973. Cullerton attended the parole board hearing on Bigsby's behalf in 2008, but was denied parole.

uh, where did this come from? we're still talking about junior here and you run off into another train of thought without even signaling. sure, daddy Cullerton is an asshole and liberal to the core, but what does this have to do with anything regarding a DUI by sonny boy?

I can't believe you are defending this guy.

ah, now it all becomes clear. you're one of those assholes who doesn't read what was written and runs off after the first shiny object that pops into your tiny brain.

listen up asshat, show us where we defend Cullerton, senior or junior, in any post over the past five years. show us where we've defended any member of the Daley crime family and it's associated branches. show us where we've done anything except point out the rank hypocrisy among the political class, especially in covering up crimes committed by them that would land you, us or any other copper in a world of hurt.

You're a fucking idiot.

-------------------

Let me guess---1. statutory summary rescinded. 2. reckless driving reduced. 3. now maybe he will finally take his one and only supervision.

When you reward people for bad behavior, they just keep doing it.

Young Cullerton need not worry. When you have friends, consequences are only for the little people. The friends of Daley listed below in this article from 05, Vance Henry, who’s Tahoe it was, has been promoted to the top reverend ass kiss post for Daley, he has a PO assigned as his secretary. He makes in excess of 130,000 a year.
Glen Brooks who smashed the cars while drunk, now leads the civilian caps in area 1. He can often be seen in the company of high ranking brass who used to drive him around when his license was suspended…when he wasn’t driving himself illegally. He is the chief spokesman for the gun turn in and often portrays himself as the police and as an aid to the mayor. Both of these gentlemen are running one of the great cons of all time.

CAPS official charged in DUI crash
February 10, 2005|By David Heinzmann, Tribune staff reporter.

A senior civilian employee of Chicago's community policing program was charged with drunken driving and driving on a suspended license early Wednesday after crashing a city-leased sport-utility vehicle into three parked cars on the North Side, police said.
It is the second time in less than six months that a high-ranking official of the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy program has been involved in wrecking a city vehicle while driving without a valid license.
Belmont Area CAPS coordinator Glen Brooks, 34, was arrested after plowing a city-leased Chevy Tahoe into three parked cars in the 6100 block of North Kenmore Avenue at 3 a.m., Rogers Park District Commander Wayne Wiberg said.

A Breathalyzer test showed his blood-alcohol content to be above the legal limit, police spokesman David Bayless said, declining to release the exact level.
Brooks, whose job included overseeing community outreach in five North Side police districts, told officers he was northbound on Kenmore when a pedestrian stepped in front of the vehicle and he slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting the person, Wiberg said. The Tahoe skidded, and he crashed into three parked, unoccupied vehicles.
Brooks of the 1100 block of West Pratt Boulevard also was charged with negligent driving for hitting the cars.
As area coordinator, Brooks oversaw public information and outreach, encouraging city residents to attend the monthly beat meetings--the core of regular interactions between police and neighborhood members.
Brooks will be reassigned pending an internal affairs investigation, Bayless said.
In August, CAPS deputy director Beth Ford, was suspended for a month for failing to report that she had wrecked a city car, which she had been driving for more than a year despite not having a valid driver's license for three years. Ford is also a civilian city employee.
Brooks' license has been suspended since June because he had failed to take his vehicle in for emissions testing, according to the Illinois secretary of state's office. However, a month ago the city also sought suspension of Brooks' license because of unpaid parking tickets, state records show.
A man who answered Brooks' cell phone Wednesday declined to comment and referred questions to CAPS executive director Vance Henry's office. Contacted by phone, Henry said he would comment later in the day but then could not be reached for comment.
CAPS is a favorite program of Mayor Richard Daley. A spokeswoman for the mayor referred questions about the arrest to the Police Department.
"The superintendent and [Henry] are disappointed and angry," Bayless said. "Glen's done some great work in Area 3, but this apparent lack of judgement isn't tolerable or acceptable."

None of these politicians or bureaucrats should have take home anything in the 1st place. They can use their own car and submit travel vouchers just like almost everybody else who has to drive on the job. They're not on call and we don't have to spend money to attract quality talent to do the job. If any of these animals died, there would be a line of applicants miles long to do the job for LESS MONEY before they even got the stiff in the ground.

If he wasn't supposed to be driving that state vehicle then it should have been reported as stolen and the driver should be charged with auto theft and then DUI!

It appears Jimmy's story hit the t.v. news and newspapers. Says he has now resigned from position. Question: Does anyone consider how much the City would have had to pay out if he did fatally strike an innocent person while DUI in a municipal owned vehicle:? A LOT! He makes a 6 figure salary but can't afford a $20 cab ride home after drinking?! Great decision maker. When he was with CPD he was a secretary at Airport North with a few years on the job......worked at OEMC......got this Homeless services job with title of Deputy Commissioner, made a ton of money with take home vehicle. CLOUT CLOUT CLOUT! But because he is a member of the Ronald H. "drinking club" he gets whatever he wants. Must be nice. How many other times has he been DUI and escaped arrest with his name dropping, clout and connections? We all know when someone is arrested for DUI that doesn't mean it was the very first time they have done it. It was just the first time they were officially caught and officially processed. But of course he'll come to court with a defense attorney who he'll pay a few thousand bucks for and he'll say what a big misunderstanding it was. Then it will forgotten about or the officer will not be notified and the case will be dismissed. Welcome to Cook County law and politics. MY PREDICTION: Because of his clout Jimmy will win or have this big "misunderstanding" dismissed in court or pleas to a very minor charge and he will find City employment in another department within 6-12 months with the assistance of his pal Ronald. Most likely another worthless job in the CPS system. Or he will come back to CPD since he is on LOA and everything like usual will all be forgotten about and live happily ever after. ATTENTION MEDIA: Realize that the majority of P.O.'s are responsible, mature, law enforcement professionals. But its these types of people like Jimmy and others the media rarely focuses on them due to their clout and connections. Majority of CPD does not have these "phone calls" and we are the ones who get sh@# on a regular basis while clout babies get everything handed to them. Report on this for once!
