Thanks for Playing?

Most votes = Consolation Prize:
  • Congratulations to Mary and Densey Cole who received the support of an amazing 21,562 votes from across the country.
We suppose a $500 gift certificate is better than a sharp stick in the eye, but seriously? First in votes and fourth place?

We're never shopping at Crate and Barrel again.

First thing to do now is go to Crate and Barrel's website and remove yourself from their mailing list.

That's all the contest was to them, anyway - a way to fatten the subscriber list.

Neither am I...I have already sent an email to C&B letting them know that neither I nor any of my friends will be shopping there either. What an Fking fraud that contest was. Were they afraid that a wheelchair wouldn't look good in a photo shoot?

I am truly sick over this.......... I have been on Crate and Barrel's facebook site........The MORONS on there are saying Densey was not a hero, that he was JUST in a traffic accident, and the 2nd place couple put up a post personally to me, and when i responded they took it down, because they looked like bigoted assholes.........

They have been attacking Mary's sister, and anyone that has been supporting the Cole's and there has been nasty fighting............

If any of you want to go and say your PEACE on Crate and Barrel's site please do... I will post the link below......... It seems they are pointing to another "alleged" police blog and using that as an excuse.........

Support Mary and Densey and tell Crate and Barrel what you think of this........ Someone said in another post, the 4th place winner could have been a poodle and a midget...........

I asked flat out.......The "face" of marriage to Crate and Barrel was about demographics, not what the votes said......... People attacked the police, especially the second place couple and their supporters...... They bashed the police on metro weekly as well as a radio show, painting the police as HATERS.......... I asked Crate and Barrel if they didn't want a HERO quadriplegic Officer and his wife as the face of the ultimate wedding, and are we just the face of the Jerry Lewis Telethon...... No answer back from them yet...

Alot of venom for Mary and Densey on the site...... Go support them ......... Here is the link....... .

Shame on this comapany and anyone affiliated with it. Sadly this was all just a ruse to get email addresses for the purpose of merchandising.

Every Email address that they conned you into getting to register to vote is now on their merchandising list.

But this company needs a couple who fits the image and a wounded police officer in a wheel chair doesn't fit the bill.

The most votes in a $100,000 contest gets you 500 dollars.

I will never spend a penny in this store.

I will buy that 500 dollar gift certificate for $750.

SHAME on Crate and Barrel!

Call C&B Corporate
847.272.2888
Ask for President- Barbara Turf

SCC-just got off phone with Exec Asst. to pres of Crate and Barrel. Let her know I thought they chose the "pretty" couple, and that their contest was a finagle and a fix.

Said voters from all over the country and the world supporting the Coles thought they were voting for the winner, not the finalist.

Asked her why bother to have a vote if the vote has little or no bearing on the outcome.

Told her Crate and Barrel conned every Coles voter and voters for other contestants who did not win but garnered more votes than winners.

She said was first time they'd ever done a contest like this.

Told her "Well you blew it."

She said rules were clear that vote only counted for 20%.

I said "Yeah, in the fine print".

She said she'd relay comments to Pres.

On Dancing with the Stars, the popular vote wins.

On Celebrity Apprentice, Trump listened to popular opinion and chose Bret Michaels.

Lately, contests like HGTV Dream Home and C&Bs leave a huge opportunity for corrupt and opportune decisions where the real winners end up not being the real winners.

Damn shame! Heartfelt thoughts for the Coles. :)

I'm thankful there are no C&B stores here in TN - the closest one to me is in GA. I'd probably end up getting arrested for causing a disturbance after I got done shoving their shit right down their throat for the way the Coles were just pawns to them.

I did, however, call the corporate office and they tried to feed me a bunch of BS about the criteria for picking the winner. I told them the fix was in from day one, they just lost thousands of customers and word about their BS was spreading quickly.

Fuck them. I hope the company goes under.

Here is the email I sent CB:

Crate and Barrel should be ashamed of the fraud that it perpetrated against the 21,000 people who voted for Densy and Mary Cole in your sham "Ultimate Wedding Contest." Obviously, the contest was nothing but a ploy to gather thousands of email addresses. Well guess what? The same folks who organized to get people to vote for a police officer critically injured in the line of duty will now organize to get people to opt out of your emails and boycott your stores. I for one, will never step foot in a CB store again nor order online and I will urge veryone I know to do the same.

If you wish to opt out of CB emails just scroll down the email until you find the link. If you would like to voice your complaint -- I say we overwhelm them with negative emails -- go to this page:

heres their response

Our contest rules clearly stated that public voting status would be given a 20% value in the judging process. As previously described, the judging panel followed three weighted criteria in evaluating each of the entries: voting status (20%), creativity and originality of entry (50%) and how well the couple evoked and inspired the Crate and Barrel lifestyle (30%). The public support for Mary and Densey Cole was very inspiring and we were pleased to award them our Top Voted Entry Prize.
We appreciate your feedback

I was just looking at the rules for this contest, and here's how they said it was going to be judged:

#1 Originality and creativity of Entrant’s responses to the topics (50%)

#2 How well Entry invokes and inspires Crate and Barrel’s lifestyle (30%)

#3 Entry’s Ranking in public voting (20%) as follows: 1st–10th place in public voting will receive 10 points; 10th–20th place will receive 6 points; 20th–30th place will receive 4 points; and the remaining 20 Finalists will receive 0 points

Obviously a marketing scheme, and they gave a couple hope of a dream wedding only to snatch it away from them. Fuck C & B, I would never go there anyways, but I will tell everyone about this load of shit they pulled.

On the website under "tips for winning" they give 6 tips on how to get votes. THE ONLY THING that is under the "tips for winning" category is tips about how to get as many votes as possible, making it seem like the VOTES were the most important thing, when in reality they were just going to pick who they wanted to win anyways, and take all those names of the voters for their own gain. What pieces of shit.

All ready sent my complaint e-mail to their sight, and this was my response…

Dear Mr. BLANK
Public voting was a consideration in the selection of the top prize winners, as the 50 entries who received the highest number of votes advanced to the final round of judging where the number of votes received represented 20% of each entrant’s score.
Contestants were encouraged to solicit votes to improve their standing in the public voting. However, we also placed important judging value on how well each couple met the contest criteria of entry originality and creativity (50%) and how well they evoked and inspired the Crate and Barrel lifestyle (30%).
We appreciate your feedback.
Sincerely,

Carrie Fisher

Life style, originality and creativity?!?!?! What makes a great love story? I say it's over coming obstacles. Lets look at what these young couples had/ have to endure. Love that is "unaccepted." Love over a distance during war. And love knowing that you may have never have the man that he once was. The envelope please…. (Drum roll…) And the winner is… Love over double parking, and having a bad day trying to find a room mate!!! Their you have it folks! How can all the other hardships of love compete with that!!!

I've been on the job for more than two decades. I have worked with some great guys and gals over the years and I have always been proud of the work we have done. No matter where we worked, it was always better after we got there.

I can't say that anymore. Manpower is so thin, we don't make a dent. We no longer have an impact on a neighborhood and what we do doesn't matter. Taking reports and telling victims that's all you can do for them doesn't help.

The Mayor doesn't like the Police Department and the Media has highlighted the Bozos on this job so that we no longer have Public support. The scumbag lawyers have sued us into submission.

The Real Police will always do their job, but I can say that it is getting really hard to rally to the cause anymore.

Mary Cole has stated on the Crate and Barrel Facebook page that she is not in support of a boycot t and it is still one of her favorite stores.

I hope their benefit is a FULL HOUSE at Bourbon Street and people help them out in the most important of ways, benefitting both of their health and well-being. She stated on the C&B facebook page that she too was just in the hospital. She seems like a real class act and can benefit from us being more constructive than trashing C&B, although I did respectfully tell them I won't spend any money there.

I have read your site many times & agreeed with alot of stuff, but this time you people need to look at the big picture. DENSEY is a winner in every sense of the word. God has been with him every step of the way & always will be. His character SCREAMS VOLUMNS from his friends & associates that he would never want people talking the trash they are about this contest. He would be the FIRST to say I appreciate all the gift cards & gifts that people bought. HE is not a greedy man. So people be thankful for all the good things in life like I'm sure he is. Being alive, enjoying his children & getting stronger mentally & physically.

If using whatever jacked up methodology they somehow decide the Mary and Densey didn't win... whatever. That being said, Crate and Barrel is a multi-million dollar company, to give them a $500 gift card is a slap in the face and public relations suicide. They need to do the right thing and cut another check for $100,000, they can afford it. If they don't do it because they have a conscious, they should do it to save their corporate image, anything else is media suicide...

By the way, you guys want to get them to make this right that's who you need to go to... the media. C & B won't let this stay in the headlines for long before attempting to make amends (Read: "giving Densey and Mary the wedding they truly deserve")

Has anyone started a FB page or blog to boycott C&B?

The company itself said to spread the word about the contest on blogs, FB, etc, so maybe it's time to get the Facebook & blog communities involved again but turn the tables on these slimy, rat bastards.

I remember reading a newpaper article or from network news (maybe through SCC?) about the Coles being entered in the contest, and would hope whoever did the story would pick up the story again and mention how Densey & Mary got screwed over and the sham that C&B has been from day one about this contest.

I made a donation to the Coles to help with their medical bills. I'm far from wealthy and wish I could have donated more, but at least I know this will help, even if it's just a small way.

God bless the Coles. I hope another company does come through and give them the wedding and honeymoon they so deserve.
