Tornado Warnings!

Sirens are going off across the city. High winds, damaging hail, tornadoes spotted in Cook County. The following neighborhoods are advised to seek shelter immediately:
  • Englewood
  • Bridgeport
  • Hyde Park
Wait a minute...is this a sign? The three neighborhoods that have contributed the most to the wholesale destruction of Chicago and the United States of America?

It must be a sign. Look for a Cubs winning streak starting tomorrow.

Off topic, but the NW Side Press had a nice front page story about Officer Cvetkovic's (016) saving a guy who tried to hang himself. Nice job, Officer.

We assume God is working His way north and merely wiping out the birthplace of Shanks and Old Man Daley along the way.

I honestly believe that even Old Man Daley is wishing for an END to Shanks.

Tornado was tryng to twist the field at Comiskey counter-clock-wise so that it sits correctly with home plate is in the Southwest Corner.

What an ass-backwards excuse for a ballpark.

Just a bit off subject, but how would this city respond in an actual emergency - terrorist or other? A few severe storms, and Metra shuts down, airports shut down, freeways closed due to flooding. Does Daley have any plan besides calling a press conference and jumping up and down?

It's true that Comiskey Park (aka Cellular One) is juxtaposed to face southeast as opposed to southwest as most baseball fields are. However, most of the games are played at night - so that it really doesn't make any difference which way you are facing - unless you are a star-gazer, or one taken up with the moon (Luna).

The term "lunatic" comes from Luna - and defined as: "One who thinks that a team that hasn't won a world championship in over a hundred years, and plays in a park with weeds growing on it's outfield walls - is charming.. or cute.."

Get real. Wrigley Field is an outdated piece of junk. If they had padding on the outfield walls instead of ivy, even Cubbie fans would be clamoring for a new field.

Cubs management will not move from Wrigley - because when sports analysts talk about the Cubs, they always refer to the "relic" that is Wrigley. And not about the fact that the product on the field hasn't won a world series in over a hundred years.

To quote the previous author - what an ass-backwards excuse for a team.

A Blackhawks fan.

I agree, whoever designed it is a dumb-shit! I love my White Sox just as much as the next guy. Granted the Park is drastically different than when it first opened, and it's actually a fantastic place now. But why would you (FIRST OF ALL) move it too face the projects? Why not have it face downtown with a beautiful view of our skyline? Imagine how awesome that would look?

Secondly, why did they not buy those project buildings on 37th and Wentworth and turn that area into beautiful homes and condos for people that would actually appreciate living next to a ballpark? Or at least turn it into parking!

And back to what you originally said, having home plate face north would have the South winds to the players backs! Homers = happy fans.

Shit makes no god damn sense in this City!
