Medical Roll

Is there some new policy that allows officers to work with a cast on?

We're only wondering because we've gotten a whole bunch of letters that the Central Control Group Deputy is working with a leg cast and the 011 District Commander is showing up to work with a broken arm.

The second one is kind of silly because she has to re-qualify regardless of which arm got broken. If she has to re-qualify, that means she can't carry a gun in the mean time. If she can't carry a gun, she shouldn't be working - at least not as the police.

Two sets of rules again?

Food for thought:
It took a couple of years to get our contract passed and it only lasts a few years. A 75 year park meter deal was passed in a mere fraction of the time. FOP's response: zzzzzzz

Jody must be proud of her. If that were a po the case would have been brought to the attention of Fed. Why is there no Federal beef by the FOP to show an exempt stating she will ruin an officer's carreer? She should at least be knocked down to captain. What a roll model.

And not only is she working with a cast due to "a bike accident", Henny Penny was ripping into female P.O.'s about their hair touching their shoulders the 2nd day she was back. And she forbade a male P.O. from working the desk after one of her friends was denied a stolen vehicle report due to not providing the desk crew with an ID to prove her identity. Seems the Penny supporter called her direct and said the male white officer was "disrespectful" when he wouldn't give her a report for a stolen car because she couldn't prove who she was.

HEY PENNY...we video taped the whole incident and it's going on YouTube now that you launched a white officer over something (racial, I mite add) that NEVER happened. Prepare to go back to 35th Street for good, you merit clown! Your demotion to your civil service rank is forthcoming with a quickness. You just ran out of steam, babygirl.

Coming to work with a cast is not only stupid and dangerous for the person, but for the the person's co-workers. What happens when someone takes your gun away and kills you and everyone around you. Stop only thinking about yourselves. You are not that important that you have to be here when you are IOD or on the medical. Get a life, the job will be here when you get back. I feel real sorry for people like this because this job is the only thing they have and a week after they retire, they have a massive grabber and don't see a penny of their pension/comp time that they earned their entire career. Find a non-police related hobby to do for cripes sake.

Pathetic.

Henny Penny is also telling the tact teams in 011 that they are doing too many search warrants. I guess she prefers pissers and drinkers since she's never made a real arrest herself.

You know, it's funny. With our last 2 commanders in 011, every time they passed a P/O in the hall, they would stop and say hello. They were nice, good guys that would take the time to shake your hand and ask how your family was doing. Henny Penny can't be bothered to look down her nose long enough to say a simple hello to anyone, and yet she wonders why NOBODY respects her. The bosses in the ditrict and all the P/Os make fun of her constantly and she just doesn't get it. She's a joke and a disgrace. But I guess that's become the new standard for leadership in this department.

I happen to think that the policy should be changed for all personnel. Most officers who are injured off duty or can and should be working jobs inside while recuperating. I broke an ankle and was off for six weeks, wanted to come back and they would not let me. Broke my arm and had to qualify. Was told COULD NOT RETURN TO WORK with ANY APPLIANCE: i.e. sling, immobilizer, cane, crutches, etc. Even if working the desk at full duty status, you had to qualify and NOT be in any ortho appliance. So yes, this is definately biased and there should be grievances brought out, esp. for those officers that were told they can't return to work because of the items stated above.

Your right two sets of rules.

7/20/2010 02:37:00 PM<<<

In a way you are right, there are two sets of rules.

THERE IS NO LIGHT DUTY STATUS FOR LIEUTENANTS, CAPTAINS OR EXEMPTS.

Light Duty only applies to D-1, D-2, D-2a and D-3 personnel.

Get that piece of metal on your collar and you loose Light Duty as an option. Do you think that's a good thing?

Over the years there have been a lot of stories of stories of Lieutenants, Captains and even exempts who worked through serious injuries and even final illnesses because they wanted to keep their benefits going for their families, they enjoyed the people they worked with or just didn't want to sit home and wait to die

Stay safe, I don't care for Miss Penny, but anyone who works through an injury or plays with pain (within reason) I would cut them some slack.

How many times do you have to be told? Retired sworn from CPD and CFD, that are rehired as a civilian for a city job, cannot participate in a second city pension fund. It is the law. If they are hired by the county or the state, it is a different story.
