More Layoffs

  • The Chicago Public Schools plan to lay off 400 classroom teachers and 200 support personnel by the end of the week as the district deals with a record $370 million budget deficit.

Notices began going out Wednesday to the affected employees, who work in about 200 elementary schools that start their year earlier than most schools, on Aug. 10.
And there's another 1,000 layoffs in the pipeline, as Daley continues to drive the City into the ground.

It doesn't matter because you cannot teach the unteachable.

Be prepared for an extra long summer vacation this year. Looks like the teachers are going to have no choice but to go on strike.

WHERE DID ALL THAT MONEY GO?

Even the most Daley trained puppy news outlets are letting slip small sniplets of reality. Phrases like, "police manpower shortages", "people are questioning the mayor's decision" and so on are creeping into newscasts.

Stay safe. It's time for the revolution.

So, lay them off! The CPS is bloated with waste and
mis-management.

Many of the teachers are just going through the motions each day in the classroom and quite a few are totally unqualified to teach anything (especially basic English)!

They should have to qualify every year (just as we do on the firing range) to keep getting raises and promotions!

Face it, guys...with reduced tax revenue, folks who work for the Shitty who are "just doing their jobs" are expendable....no clout, no hookup, GTFO! Per SHORTSHANKS! All the real 'budget money' goes to the connected...or the siblings of 'the connected' who kept their mouths shut as the went to 'club Fed!'

Unimaginative as ever, the idiots in city hall can only come up with layoffs as a means to stop spending. Hey city hall....quit some of those entitlemlent programs costing city taxpayers millions--and not just the city but for state and nation as well.
All of the elected socialist/progressive marxists have rendered our branches of government irrelevant. The time for accounting is at hand.

who cares...CTA "doomsday" sure seems to be working out just fine! I love when idle threats are shrugged off and everything works out just fine. Lay off the teachers...we all know there arent going to EVER be 37 kids in a CPS classroom! If half of the CPS savages go to school on any given day its a miracle or jay z is coming to perform! Sorry, teachers, there are just too many of you. Time to start cutting the fat! We are getting laid off in a politically polite way...layoffs through attrition. Time to cut the CPS wayyyyy doen to size!

In response to Anonymous at 3:11 a.m.-- a lot of us teachers and CPS Personnel are married to CPD.

We're not the enemy, nor do we make as much as the Hubermans, Bonds, and all of the people he's hired since taking over CPS. There have been a lot of good, decent law-abiding hard working and taxpaying people laidoff since Huberman's reign of terror.

We don't go through any motions. We've been there to teach the unteachable, to teach in already overcrowded classes with children who are hungry, ADD or worse, have no supplies, are unprepared-- whatever. But we cared. We went to work each and everyday trying to make a difference. For what? To be vilified and stereotyped?

Just like any other profession/career-- you have bad apples. But most aren't bad at all. Think before you speak the next time.

The media reported how little of the parking meter money was still available but they never bothered to question where the money went. Time to lay off the poor excuse for media.

Already spent...Read the news. The money went to past budget deficits and paydown on city debt to keep the bond rating high. Less than 250 million left in city coffers and I'm sure they have plans for that.

it's the deep, penetrating cynicism that seeps into one's mind; that's why, sometimes, for some individuals, it's cathartic to piss on the other guy's rice bowl.

'political correctness' has tied everybody's hands.

George Orwell was a prophet.

We are in for a combination for short term deflation, followed by a long perdiod of hyperinflation.

Commodity prices, ie: food, gas, oil, will rise astonomically. It's already starting to happen!

Consumer Goods, ie: electronics, other non-essential items will fall--temporarily.

Then we will all see hyperinflatoin not seen since the 1971 oil embargo.

Expect riots, job loss, looting and lack of government services. Yet we will be taxed beyond rationale.

I for one, have paid off my mortgage and am stockpiling essentials, food, water, guns, etc.

Police, you will do well to do the same, so when the SHTF, you will be better prepared than the libtards, shitheads, illegals, and all others that choose to ignore reality.

Bernanke has already warned of his true intentions, yet there will be no warning when hyperinflation hits. History will repeat itself.

Some teachers are lazy, most are not. The real problem is all the personnel in the CPS office. Often highly paid consultants, facilitators, advisers who roll in at 10 AM, leave early, and take half the week off. All these people do is have meetings, pre-meeting meetings, post-meeting meetings, meetings to plan other meetings. Then whatever stupid ideas they decide to push they ram down the throats of the teachers during in service days, eating up the productive time of the teachers who actually do the work. Of all the people who work for CPS, HALF are never in a classroom. That's where the waste is. Oh, did I mention some of them are politically connected?
