Remembrance Post

We gave everyone pretty much free rein in yesterday's thread to vent their spleens in regard to Officer Bailey's death. It's been a rough two months here and it doesn't look like it's getting any better in light of the headlines we have just below here.

Prayers and thoughts for the fallen only in this thread. RIP Michael Bailey.

I didn't personally know Officer Bailey. Everything I've heard and read though tells me he was a gentleman and a true family man. I can't imagine his family's pain. I hope they know that he will be spending his retirement in the most beautiful place. God rest your soul Officer.

As he heads into the light, we pray that Officer Bailey whispers to the Heavenly energy that we need a correction on this planet.

May God hold him, comfort him and tell him he did a good job. A job that very few understand, a job of split second decisions and untold pressures.

Rest eternally Officer Bailey.

On to Valhalla, Michael. God bless you and all your loved ones.

A group of our NYPD brothers and sisters extend their condolences and prayers.

They will be traveling down to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in D.C. Wednesday. If any readers have injured soldiers at Walter Reed, let me know ASAP. The NYPD guys will then visit with them.

Angels In Blue

I had this friend you see,
Who loved God, Country, You and Me.
My friend went to work day or night
The peace to keep, so you and I could sleep.

He worked the holidays and weekends, Away from family and friends. To keep the peace for you and me.

Each day this friend put his life on the line. To spare yours and mine.
Then one day he paid the price, he gave his life.

You've done well my friend,
Patrolling these earthly streets.
Now it's time to walk Heaven's beat.

The next time you see a Police Officer or two, Remember they are one of Gods Angels in Blue.
And God said: "Blessed are the Peace Makers".

R.I.P Michael Bailey, Thor Soderberg, Thomas Worthham and Alex Valadez.

Seeing Officer Bailey's retirement car really hit home. My wife immediately began imploring me, again, to retire ASAP.

We were out on Saturday and I stopped at the Honda car dealer. I looked at a new Accord and priced one and dickered around for a bit and the sales manager took my name etc. and I said we would talk during the week.

That was late Saturday afternoon. Then Sunday morning came and my wife and I looked at each other remembering our talk of the new retirement car just hours earlier.

Our leadership isn't getting any better. I am sorry I will be retiring in such a depressing low point in the history of the CPD.

richardmdaley and jodypweis will not be here forever, things will improve, they must.

Rest in peace dear brother Bailey. We'll see justice done for you, some way, some how.

Tuesday, July 20 marks the 18th anniversary of the murder of Harry Belluomini, a legendary CPD detective. Even on the most miserable of tours, "Harry Bell" would make all of the dicks laugh and smile--a gentleman with charisma and a great sense of humor.

After retiring, Harry served as a court security officer with the U.S. Marshal's Service at the Federal Building. It was there that in an exchange of gunfire with a prisoner, both the prisoner and Harry were killed. The prisoner had disarmed a female officer in the elevator to the basement transport area. A second CSO was also killed.

Today, three of Harry's children are now on the job: Anne, Karen and Michael. I know that Harry is looking down at them with great pride.

Rest in peace, Harry Bell. Another hero, Michael Bailey is now with you.

"I am the Officer"

I have been where you fear to be,
I have seen what you fear to see,
I have done what you fear to do -
All these things I have done for you.

I am the person you lean upon,
The one you cast your scorn upon,
The one you bring your troubles to -
All these people I've been for you.

The one you ask to stand apart,
The one you feel should have no heart,
The one you call "The Officer in Blue,"
But I'm just a person, just like you.

And through the years I've come to see,
That I am not always what you ask of me;
So, take this badge ... take this gun ...
Will you take it ... will anyone?

And when you watch a person die
And hear a battered baby cry,
Then do you think that you can be
All these things you ask of me?

And now some dirty scum took my life,
Leaving my family full of strife.
This is not how I planned to go,
But now I will be with Heaven's patrol.

I still had things to do, and stories to share,
But some low-life dirty scum didn't care,
But worry not for them or me,
Just take care of my family.

Please visit with them from time to time,
And remind them, I am doing fine.
This is not the way I planned on leaving,
Take care of them long after the grieving.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little - but not for long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go.

For this journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me - but let me go.

Dear SCC,
I offer my condolences to the family of Michael Bailey. This is so unfair and needless. I hope that you find strength and compassion over the next few months to help you endure your loss.

I also offer my condolences to the colleagues of Michael Bailey in the Chicago Police Department.

I am not one of your city nor of your profession. Yet I can see some of how terrible these losses have been for you all.

I pray for your safety.

Last of all, may Michael Bailey's killers be brought to justice. May Michael Bailey rest in peace.

Sincerely,
Ann T. Hathaway
