Goodbye Brother in Blue. You did not get to enjoy your retirement that you so richly deserved and worked hard for. But Jesus Himself said "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal".

And further, the Good Lord said that he would build a mansion for us up in heaven.

Officer you died a senseless death but now you are with the Good Lord, enjoying an eternal retirement.

May God bless you and help your family during these very trying times.

Went to the church service, IT WAS A SPECTACULAR. I have to say that the church and the Police Department did a great service for the officer's family. Also, a BIG THANKS to all those outside departments who were there in support (to name a few: Evanston, Skokie, Elgin, Northlake, Lansing, ect.) BIG THANKS! R.I.P. officer BAILEY. We will keep you in our thoughts, and we'll be here protecting your family.

What a shameful turnout for the funeral. If not for the exempts, the 1st district and the recruits (all of whom we required to be there) cpd would have been outnumbered by the CFD and outside agencies. If you did not come out today because it was too far or going to be too hot, you should be ashamed of yourself. I hope your family never has to see one rank of police officers lining the street only half way down the block. If its because bosses would not let you go or couldnt make it easy for you to go to this officers funeral, shame on them!
The lack of officers at the funeral today really spoke volumes of how little of a brotherhood this department is. Blame the Mayor and the Supt all you want but we dont even have each other's backs. RIP M.B.

St. Michael, the Archangel,

Defend us in battle.

Be our protection

against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.

And do thou,

Oh Prince of the Heavenly Host,

By the power of God,

Cast into Hell,

Satan and all the other evil spirits

who prowl about the world,

seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen

I was at the service today. I work in 001. It was a pathetic turnout for a murdered police officer, and not just from other districts. There were PO's from 001 did not attend. WTF? We talk about the "us v them", then don't show for a funeral of one of your own? What happened to other districts covering, so all could attend? Since I'm not a clout baby, I'll never make rank. But if I did, everyone would have to attend a funeral such as this, unless you had a damn good reason. As far Pfleger goes, he was doing a good job til he made it political (and forgot about MIke)-calling for protesting the NRA, asking Washington for help..etc. J-Fled also gave a good speech, just didn't know when to keep his damn mouth shut. All that talk about bringing justice for Mike was fine until you just had to go on about doing it "lawfully and justly and within the boundaries of the law"..No shit asshole! that was already implied, no need to keep running your damn mouth. R.I.P Mike. God Bless you and your family.

from the breaking news site comments on article:

This extra money was not from a police organization, it was donated to the “Chicago Police Memorial Foundation” toward the reward fund, through the “Disabled Illinois Police Officer’s Safety Group,” founded by Rosemarie “Ro” Giambalvo. This is a group dedicated to allowing disabled police officers the right to legally carry their firearms for self defense. Believe it or not, these disabled officers are being denied their God given right to protect themselves while they are on disability, but then get that right back upon drawing their regular pension, providing that they qualify on the range.

The extra $5,000 was actually contributed to the reward fund by a very generous man by the name of Joseph Spretnjak, an Allstate Insurance Agent from the south Chicago suburb of Flossmoor. Joe is a great guy and like most of us, outraged at what is going on in this once great city that we all call home. You can read about this by going to:

http://disabledcops.blogspot.com/2010/07/reward-goes-to-70000.html

This is one concerned citizens way of trying to stop the recent increase of out-of-control attacks on our police officers. As I’m sure you are aware, Michael Bailey was the third Chicago cop murdered in Chicago in the past eight weeks. It’s like the criminals have lost all fear of the police, and unless Chicago’s Mayor, Rich Daley abandons the political correctness that got us into this mess, and restores law enforcements police powers, it’s just going to get worse. If the criminals are murdering our policemen, what chance do you suppose any of the “un-armed,” law abiding citizens of this state have? As it stands now, our very capable Police Officers hands are tied from restoring law and order to the lawless streets of Chicago. They are under-manned, under-paid, out-numbered and out-gunned. They are literally sitting ducks for the gangbangers.

Please call your Alderman and Mayor Daley and demand that they hire a minimum of the 2,000 Police Officers we are short, give them a fair raise instead of the insulting 2% they got, and keep beat cars in all of the districts in Chicago at all times. After all, our Mayor and City Council members all have security details or concealed carry permits to protect themselves and their families, don’t ours deserve the same protection?

I said it before and I will say it again, the CPD is in a state of shock and clinical depression. The honors funeral was for the mayor and Weis to cry a fake river and beat thier chests about conditions that exist because they caused them. The mafia always sent a contingent and flowers to the funerals of the guys that they themselves rubbed out. This is no difference. I don't want to see the mayor or Weis for the rest of my life much less somewhere where they can tell and act out even more lies. And the fake reverends.... this was a photo opp nothing else. The poor family got a jug of kool-aide and they drank from it unknowingly.

Most are tired of the dog and pony show the exempt/nobles put on. They act like its about them.

Second...I wouldnt step foot inside father flatulences church for anything.

Many are stepping away for their own sanity. How these exempt/nobles sleep at night amazes me. I just dont want to be near it anymore. several more years and Im through.

My prayers go ot to the Bailey family. RIP Brother, GODSPEED!

I just want to know why the suckhole P/os from 35th were in plainclothes? We parked our cars from the funeral motorcade and this douchebag in plain clothes walks over and says you can't park here, this parking is for exempts. I looked @ the star on his belt it said Patrolman. I got out of the squadcar locked the door and told him to tow it!

regarding the "low attendance" from our own, all I can say is: WE ARE ALWAYS BLAMING OTHERS FOR OUR OWN INTERNAL ISSUES, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO GETTING TOGETHER, SOMETIMES WE ARE OUR WORST ENEMY. I DON'T CARE WHO WAS IN ATTENDANCE, OR THE LOCATION, WE WERE THERE FOR A FELLOW POLICEMAN. what's worst, most in attendance were from the "old" school, not many young faces, goes to show you where this department is headed with the younger generation. I am so GLAD that in 14 years, I have had the HONOR to have worked with so many fine police officers from the "old" school. I really appreciate all that they have thought me, especially, to be there for each other.
