Superintendant Weis? Members of the Chicago Police Department were invited to participate in a morale survey, presumably paid for by the tax payers. What were the results of that survey, and since it was paid for by the taxpayers, why haven't those results been made public?
And in a related question, in light of all of the fallout from Lt. John Andrews criticism of you and your administration of the Chicago Police Department, and knowing that you have stated in the past that if you were the cause of low morale in the Department, you would leave without being asked to do so, what is your reason for NOT resigning?
I'm virtually certain that if you ask him those two questions, you will have stories to write for a minimum of several days if not weeks.

In yesterday's newspaper we have Cozzi's sentence upheld by the courts.
Burge will be sentenced in November.
In today's paper it is reported that Alton Logan threatens the City's lawyers with no charges filed.
Swistowicz's charges are dismissed "with prejudice" and them somehow reinstated.
It appears that the FBI and the Federal courts have declared war on the Chicago Police Department.
Maybe it is time to disband CPD and turn the functions of defending the public over to Flint Taylor, Jon Loevy and the FBI!

There have been members of my family on the CPD since the early 1910's. We have considered it our family duty to be the police and to be professional. We are not alone there are many police officers out there that come from the same background. We have all tried to serve with pride and honor. I just can not recommend to anyone a career with the CPD. It will be at least a decade before the damage done by the current superintendent is corrected. Weis was not just a mistake he was a catastrophe. Thank you Mayor Daley for putting your own lust for power above the City you are supposed to serve.

Also, that it was not intended for that purpose, which he was told. Their is a Lt. in 021 who has kept her promise and kept her mouth shut, but there are other people who know but can't get their hands on the results to prove it If it ever does come out it will be so spun as to show nothing.
I'm sure that 'all copies have been destroyed.' If anyone would have the actual tallied up survey results, one would think it would be Lt. Michelle Engstrom, don'tchathink (sorry to borrow your phrase, Sneed)?

OK, the previous survey was faulty.
How about a new one, using recognized survey methods? UIC did the first one. Aren't they also running the latest national survey that J-Fled is pushing?
How can one survey be properly administered and the other flawed, when both are administered by the same surveyor?
Why don't you make a FOIA request (or ask a neighbor to)? Ask for results, methodology, how it was restricted to whom, was it anonymous, cost. If denied follow-up with AG's office. It's a start.
Even Neil Steinberg is on our side in this one and he has made a career out of ripping us. That's how bad this situation is.

Just because the survey questions only required a simple yes or no answer, it does not diminish the importance of having properly formulated the questions. And the ability to proper formulate is not one of her strengths. She is a real piece of work.
Back in 96 the CDR of 012 signed off on a mempo written in his name by one of his Lt's. She is now a Cpt in 014.

@Anonymous - Off Topic that case report is the funniest stuff since the Commander in a Northside District signed off on a not so PC letter that his secretary wrote and got DUMPED! I didn't know a W/C signed off on it TOO! Hilarious and Sad, the CR's are working on that caper. Who was the W/C? The P.O. and Sgt. were dumped immediately, just great stuff our Tact heroes.

Not too long ago, I hope, to be forgotten, but the Mo Dailey incident was an amount of high drama that seems rather quaint today.
The tempest in a teapot concerned a "beat profile" that described drinking and domestic violence as some of the main problems on this particular beat, and it tried to link the two together. And no, it was not politically correct.
But the collision of demographics and crime stats can lead to some uncomfortable realities, which may not be provable conclusions.
Mo was well-liked and is missed, taken from his family too early.
J Fled and the morale group are hiding the morale survey because morale sucks. Enough said.

The D/C in 012 during "memo-gate" was Kuroski(sp?)...
He went from 1200 to 3290.

FYI to set the record straight: UIC DID NOT administer the morale survey. Lt. ME did with the assistance of R&D. All UIC did was receive the data from R&D, summarize it and return it to the dept. And here it sits...
