One Juror

That's all that stood between Blago and something like 275 years in the clink:
  • Jurors were just one vote shy of convicting Rod Blagojevich of the most explosive charge against him: Trying to sell the U.S. Senate Seat left vacant by Barack Obama.

A woman on the jury didn't believe the evidence clearly implicated the former governor, according to Erik Sarnello, 21 of Itasca.

"I think she wanted clear-cut evidence, and not everything was clear-cut," Sarnello said.

The hold-out "just didn't see what we all saw," he added.
Sure she didn't.

Just like no one in the Justice Department saw where this entire case was headed and took down the wire months early.

Could you imagine the community of rev'runs and thugs in this city if Barry would have gotten his ass caught in that wire? This city, and parts of this country would have erupted in complete chaos not seen ever. No wonder it was taken down quick, fast and in a hurry! I'm taking furlo next Presidential election, he's not winning another term. And you can take that to the bank....

I don't know. Maybe I'm just being selfish, but if I ever got jammed up to the point of facing a criminal indictment, I pray to God that at least one juror isn't convinced that the evidence against me is clear-cut, and gives me the benefit of his (or her) doubt.

Maybe that's too much to hope for these days.

Please, boys and girls, don't jam yourselves up. Stay safe every way there is.

Obama, the Ballerina, Jesse Jr, and others have lots to fear from a retrial. What's next:

A mysterious suicide?
A disappearance?
A plea deal?

We've left wires up for months to get a lousy kilo, years for Rico statutes and we pull this after a few weeks? You are either in denial or a Democrat if you don't see where this was heading. It wasn't just the President, but every politician in the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois that would have been exposed for the corrupt bunch they are. This includes both parties.

When they saw where it was going, they pulled it for the 'betterment of the Nation' I'm sure they told themselves. A National embarrassment and a precursor for some riots that would make the 60's seem like a house party. A scandal that would have a death toll attached to it all at the door of the first African American President who was elected for that very reason.

While it would have hurt, I wish they had let it go. Sunshine never hurt anything. This cover up is pretty see-through, and so, it festers. The American people deserve better, and are better than we are given credit for. We would have survived it.

With the quality of the Jury pool why do we still use this system today?

I think they should make the Blago trial into a movie called "Twelve Angry Men and Women"

You hit the nail on the head.
Who ever heard of a Fed investigation lasting 2 or 3 weeks. As soon as they got Rahm and Axelrod on tape they knew who was coming next, the "not so great bloviator."
It would have gone something like this. "Now let me be clear...."

Somebody got to that juror. First Blago, next would have been Daley, then they would have all pointed their fingers at Barry. Da Mare just couldn't let that happen, could he? Now move along. Nothing to see.

Did everyone forget about the Chicago Tribune's roll....
From the Wall Street Journal-
The precise timing of Tuesday’s dramatic, pre-dawn arrest of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was not dictated by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, nor was it dictated by the pace of Blagojevich’s alleged “crime spree.” It was dictated by the Chicago Tribune, according to people close to the investigation and a careful reading of the FBI’s affidavit in the case. At Fitzgerald’s request, the paper had been holding back a story since October detailing how a confidante of Blagojevich was cooperating with his office. But editors decided to publish the story on Friday, Dec. 5, ending the Tribune’s own cooperation deal with the prosecutor. The Tribune’s front page screamed: “Feds taped Blagojevich; TRIBUNE EXCLUSIVE: Adviser cooperated with corruption probe, sources say.” This headline warned those involved and stopped the investigation in its tracks.

I'm telling you, its the hair. Women go nuts for his hair. I'm sure that one female juror was so consumed by lust for his hair that she talked herself into saving him.

The hair.

Only one juror could see through this B.S. I don't like Blogo or the rest of the players, although his brother seems OK, but only one juror could see that this was the reason, because the case was going too far,and might have involved the "anointed one" Thats pretty scarry.

I told The Wifey last week it would be a hung jury because one juror, a Female Black, would not convict dispute any evidence presented. So far I know it was a female retired from a government job. Not sure yet about W or B.

That one Juror every one is talking about is the retired Director of Health Human and Services of the state of Illinois.

My question is how in the hell did a retired Director of a State agency end up on the jury???

You don't become the director of anything in this state without owing someone something. Think maybe she owed Blago some political credit or maybe she has family members in state agencies as well.

Channel 7 reported that they had talked to a few of her neighbors. One of her neighbors said that she had told them if she did get selected for the jury she would not find Blago guilty of anything.

Remember it only takes one well payed juror to fuck up the parade.

why not just have you declare him guilty and be done with it.

Hey nitwit that's why we have 12 People on a jury. the vast cases of jury use ends in a guilty verdict where is is warranted.

Thank god for this lady doing her job, If I were ever charged with a crime I would want her on the jury.

The system thou not perfect is still the best way.
