Order of Protection Failure

  • A 47-year-old man was charged today with Friday's slaying of a woman in what police are calling a "domestic-related incident."

Carey B. Donald was charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of Chorelynn Johnson-Roth, 53. The two lived at the same address on the 1300 block of West 56th Street, officials said.

Johnson-Roth was pronounced dead at 11:50 a.m. Friday at Stroger Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. She died of multiple stab injuries in a homicide, the office ruled today following an autopsy.
According to our comment sections, Johnson-Roth had the ex served with an Order of Protection about five minutes before he inflicted multiple wounds to her with an axe.

Anyone want to point out what a useless invention the Order of Protection is? It's just another "illusion" of protection that does nothing.
Maybe she should have gotten a gun?

What do you mean? She could have used the Order of Protection to block the blows from the axe. She could have used the paper to stop the bleeding...

I mean, Carey Donald just wanted to "axe" her sumptin...

I agree that she needed a gun, not an order of protection.

I find it ironic, all an Order of Protection prevents is a violation of current law. Orders of Protection are double jeopardy. It is a mechanism to add a new charge.

It exists to fool female voters that the system works, and to trickbag coppers.

Always treat them with care. Whether they work or not is immaterial, protect yourself when responding to domestic bullshit and follow the order.

Orders of Protection aren't useless; laws simply are not effective against those who have made a decision that they and their actions are not accountable to anyone.
And yes, she should have obtained a gun AND the order of protection.

Better yet, women need to make better choices about the men they allow into their lives.

Sounds like a good lawsuit against the police. They have failed to protect and keep offenders off the street. Remember, their motto is "Serve and Protect"

It's useless when the victims lets the offenders come back home and use the OOP when the offender pisses them off and doesn't want to leave.

All an order of protection is is a legal document that explains why it was justifiable to shoot your assailant.

If anybody actually wants to get PROTECTED by one, they'd better have it printed on kevlar.

Generally, orders of protection are meaningless to your garden variety of axe murderers.

Was the axe registered with the City?

Mayor Daley went on TV on this very subject then reappeared later to retract his statement.

Initially, Shortshanks vowed to completely remove the 'ax' from Chicago via city ordinance.

Later, he was reminded by the black coalition of aldermen that 'ax' was an integral part of the ebonics language, i.e. " man, ax him, I don't know."

Daley said he'd ax the city council for a vote on Oct 6, when they are back in session.

Oh boy, another expert! The job is hard enough without having to deal with liberal pukes such as yourself.

But it is people like you who exemplify the un-official motto of the CPD: DAMMED IF YOU DO, DAMMED IF YOU DON'T

...Not! They lived in the same building, different entrances and he went after her immediately after being served. That's why you always, always follow the caveat of "Don't shit where you eat."

Hindsight is 20/20, but perhaps she should have moved.

Cherelynn was a beautiful spirit gone all too soon, leaving so many love one behind. Those who knew her, knew her well. And knew that she was a loving, caring compassionate person that wore a huge smile that would light up a room and it will never be forgotten. And we will forever cherish her memory and unforgetable smile and know that out of any bad situation their will be good. Cherelyn death will help someone to accept that domestic violence is alive and well. And do the right thing while u still can. Hate can not and does not dwell in my heart for carey donald. His fate is now in the hand of who he choose to serve and from his act it isn't God.
