Sworn Affidavit Prosecution

  • A Zion woman who claimed she was harassed and abused by a Gurnee police officer admitted Wednesday that she made up the story.

Shirlon Rogers, 44, pleaded guilty to perjury and driving under the influence of alcohol after her story was undone by the dashboard camera in the officer's squad car.

Of course, that would never happen here. The camera would be broken or Felony Review would refuse charges and the ASA would toss the left-over charge at the preliminary.

It's amusing how every other state law seems to work outside the confines of Cook County. It must be something in the air.

and after the OPS-IPRA reform.... a marginal amount of City complaints are sustained.

The FOP or Lt. Andrews should throw that in Mr. Weis' face: the Department was NEVER out of control, NOR will it ever be out of control.

Mr. Weis was FED some misinformation about this Department during a job interview, in which a near MILLION DOLLAR contract was on the table.

The only requirement: "clean up the CPD" and you collect a cool million!

Mr. Weis delivered, and granted Daley's wishes.

Jody, I'm deliberately calling you Mister, because you don't deserve your title!

Sold your Soul for a million dollars

used to work in Lake County before coming down to Cook County. They prosecute these cases all the time and their felony review even types up all the paperwork necessary for all felony 101's and complaints

WELL FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES AND I HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP BEFORE BOTH TO THE FOP AND ON THIS VERY SITE. I BELIEVE THAT THE FOP SHOULD BE OBTAINING A RD#,THAT RD# WILL GENERATE A CASE REPORT THAT WILL THEN BE FOLLOWED UP ON BY THE DETECTIVE DIVISION (NOT IAD), THEN THE PROPERTY CRIME DICKS WILL PRESENT THE FACTS TO FELONY REVIEW.

THEN YOU HAVE THE PAPER TRAIL, THAT SHOULD EITHER SHOW TAHT THE STATE'S ATTORNEY'S OFFICE WILLHIDE BEHIND PROSECUTORIAL DISCRETION ORTHEY WILL CHARGE SOME OF THESE CASES.

IT HAS ALREADY BEEN DEMONSTRATED TIME AND TIME AGAIN THAT THE IAD WILL NOT PROSECUTE.

WHICH AGAIN WHY IS NO # BEING OBTAINDED ON THEM FOR IN ATTENTION TO DUTY???

The Sworn Affidavit is a joke in the City. I myself tried to go after a lying Complainant and was shot down by everyone. The threat of suing these people is a joke. Our Unions, ASA's, Corporate Counsel, etc, does not back us, nor do they care. Just be glad that most Complainants are too lazy to keep up with the complaint process to go through with the signing. NO AFFIDAVIT is a nice stop to any investigation. Unless the Department rally wants to hang you. We all know how that can turn out.

Outside of Cook and Chi Town the laws of this sate do work. I'm retired CPD and live near Rockford,Il. 2 yrs ago a 19 kid drove his car across my front yard and caused about $1000 in damage. Sod torn up and about 250 yrds of tire tracks that needed to be repaired. Luckily he left his license plate in my yard and got caught.
What do you think would happen in Cook/Chi?? This guy was charged with a felony CDTP. The ASA in the case called me 2x, at home, once on a Sunday to prep me for trial. The end result was a conviction for a misd., $750 in restitution, 2 yrs of probation, and 40 hrs of court monitored anger mgmt. classes. I got my check in 5 days plus another call from the ASA who wanted to THANK me for cooperating with her. Sounds like Cook County doesn't it??

No, nothing in the air. It's just the ass wipes we have for ASA's and the cop hating and incompetent shitbags calling the shots at the top of the shit heap that is Crook County law.

Again, not all. But certainly most. They let more crooks walk the streets than any other place in the country. I wonder if their conviction rate vs. their rate of prosecution should be examined.

Media? Interesting story there. Why can you get away with shooting people in Chicago more than anywhere else in the nation?

I guess that will have to be an out of town paper doing that one since Shortshanks was one of those incompetent State's attorney shit heads himself and wont allow the gutless shits in Chicago to run a story like that in an election year.

I could understand why Felony Review wanted to get rid of cases when the jail was full of drug arrests but now that it empty they should be approving more of the real felonies like robbery, agg. bat., burglary, etc.

I'd even go so far as getting rid of I-bonds at the district for misd. cases. Can't pay up? See the judge and enjoy your stay until the next court date in a month.

Gave a woman a parker for double parking after giving her a verbal warning to move, which she ignored. She was very nasty to me and my partner during the whole incident. She then came into the station demanding that a CR be obtained, stating the my partner and I swore at her and threw things at her. Of course none of that was true. We immediately notified the Sgt that our camera, while we didn't push record because it wasn't an official IVC traffic stop, would have captured the whole incident anyway and prove that she was lying. We immediately filled out the proper paperwork requesting a download of the camera's contents. We made several calls to various units to see how we could obtain the contents of the camera and everyone we talked to said they had no idea. When we finally found the unit in charge of handling it, we were told that "the guy" in charge of taking care of downloads where the record function wasn't activated was RDO (it was Friday) and he wouldn't be back until Sunday. He said to fax over the appropriate paperwork anyway. We made copies and faxed the paperwork. A few days later I received a note back from "the guy" stating that requests for downloads off the camera had to be made within 24 hours of the incident or it would be lost forever. So, since he was RDO in those 24 hours I was out of luck.

So when that CR and signed affidavit show up, my beef will be with the department.

Thanks Jody for the cameras that are there to clear us of wrongdoing. What a fucking joke.

I had a finding of Unfounded and have a lawyer and am suing the bitch right now. Prosecution is a joke, this is Cook County, remember. I was told it is not a crime to lie about the police, true story. The criminal courts wouldn't take it.

Even now, the lawyer would only file it in small claims court. It is all I could do so I pressed forward.

I never had a detective, not once, call in a perjury case where a mope lied in a OPS complaint. Not once.

So this isn't all on the SAO. Your OPS or IPRA, or whatever they call it now, should be turning over the evidence to the detective division and they should gather the evidence, interview the witnesses, and get the charges.

If you think you couldn't get felony review to approve a case based on the facts from the article you are either nuts, or you just hate the ASAs.

And regarding squad car videos - there was much complaining about them when they started putting them in cars. I, the half assed lawyer I must be, have only found them to a great way to show cop-hating juries that the police (despite what the newsmedia tells them) conduct themselves professionally in 99.999999% of situations. Often in the face of outrageous conduct by so called civilians.

Whatever, I hate to intrude on yet another discussion about how shitty the ASAs are. I'll just go back to my "bottom 5% of my law school class" office and keep rethinking why I do this job in the first place.

But just you dare slap a piece of shit causing a problem in a hospital. Off to Federal Prison for you. The law is the law except when a cop is the victim.

I am sick of this place, I am moving way out of Cook County the day after I retire. I will miss nothing here, nothing.

The only Asas I like are the ones at grand jury. The rest are incompetent blowhards that couldn't litigate themselves out of a wet diaper.

Where is the FOP on this? Has there ever been a formal grievance filed? Has someone agreed to be a test case?

I would love to vote Conservative Republican. However I want my well deserved pension that I've been paying into. Until Republicans stop going after public safety workers' pensions, I'm going to have to vote independent. Either way we vote, we're screwed.

I have a civil case going against a woman who signed the affidavit and it was declared Unfounded by IAD.

As for prosecution, good luck, I couldn't get anyone interested. ASA? Ha! Same shit, who sent ya' kid. If I drove jodypweis around maybe they would take up my cause or if I were related to somebody who was somebody.

But I am just a journeyman police officer so I don't need to be told to go fuck myself like the Pakistani tourist in New York asking for directions. When they squirm and shuffle their feet and excuse themselves, well I've seen that act before.

Do you think for one moment that Alverez or her incompetent Chief of Staff Dan Kirk could give a damn about any of the police in this County? Perhaps if these two where pro law enforcement, supporting the police instead of worrying about activities on North Halsted Dan the county would be a much better place. Short Shanks do you really not get it, these two are costing the city 10's of millions of dollars in SOLS BFSOL and Non suits? Shortshanks do you know why because the bottom feeder attorneys are waiting to take these cases and file civil suits. Thanks again Alverez and Kirk you are costing the tax payers millions
